Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a standard-issue living specimen container of 1m x 2m x 1m. The upper lid must be outfitted with fine-grain air filters. The container is to be stored in a empty sealed room. Weekly inspections have to be performed by on-site personnel, ensuring that
- The specimen has not outgrown the container;
- Its surface is not pushing against the container walls or lid;
- The air filters are unobstructed;
- The organism is still attached to its food source.
SCP-XXXX must not touch organic tissue of any kind, first and foremost human skin tissue, exception made for its food source. Personnel is required to wear standard issue Hazmat suits while introducing a new food source to SCP-XXXX. Appropriate sources include, and are not limited to: human limbs, skin, ears. In the event that no human part is available, swines and / or monkeys can be used instead.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a anomalous specimen that parasites humans.
It appears as a single, porous red cyst 1 cm wide. In this early stage, the cyst lies dormant until it comes in contact with the naked skin of a suitable host.
Once attached, the organism feeds from the host bloodstream, steadily growing in size. This incubation period can last from 2 to 3 weeks, with the specimen doubling in mass every third day. When the growth rates slows, SCP-XXXX reaches sexual maturity and can release new offsprings - spraying red cysts in the enviroment or on other potential hosts directly.
Mature instances of SCP-XXXX look like pulsating bulbs of red meat and scar tissue, that can cover as much as 70% of the host's skin. . This extra organic matter is usually arranged in incoeherent patterns, but can sometime mimic human organs. Structures resembling extra hearts, kidneys and lungs have been observed, although their functionality is yet to be tested.
Once reached a critical mass of around 40kg, the cyst will begin a process called *emancipation*, where it detatched from its host. The mass of meat will arrange itself in a humanoid shape ranging from 1 to 1,2 meters high, capable of deambulation. Those instances - labeled as SCP-XXXX-Offspring - are not aggressive, and usually walk around with no apparent aim, but they are still able of releasing more cysts in their surrounding, thus spreading the contagion.
While the entity is clearly of parasitic nature, hosts are not heavily affected by its presence and report little discomfort. They experience increased appetite, a loss of pigmentation and muscle tone. As the mass of red cyst grows, however, hosts can experience difficulties moving around due the extra weight. SCP-XXXX is also able to slightly influence its hosts' behaviour. Affected individuals are aware of the parasite, but they consider it normal. Psychological screenings have showed that, while there is no loss of mental faculties, affected subjects seem to regard the parasite with a deeply rooted affection. When given the option of having the parasite surgically removed, they refuse with various degrees of hostility.
Once the parasite detatches, reaching the Offspring phase, its former host usually sticks around until a new infection occurs.
The first known case of SCP-XXXX dates back to 19██, in Hamburg, Germany. The local Foundation branch was alerted of anormal activity in the nothern district of the city. A survey of the zone revealed a whole apartment building affected by the red cyst at various stages, including three istances of SCP-XXXX-Offspring. Several individuals were found at the later stage of the infection, with sprawling red masses of meat forcing them to their beds. A few residents, carrying early stages of SCP-XXXX, were tasked with feeding, cleaning and taking care of the others.
The following interviews have been translated from German. The original transcript can be found at [DATA EXPUNGED].
Interviewed: Hans Grunman
Interviewer: Dr. Spinne
The subject is a 46 year old caucasian male, apprehended from the collection site in Hamburg. At the time of this interview, SCP-XXXX covers the entire right side of Grunman's body, including his left eye. The parasite has developed a second heart at the subject shoulder. While Grunman's infection looks severe, he appears lucid and cooperative.

The entire zone was quarantined and the affected individuals were collected and sent to Area-12 for further studies, including the three SCP-XXXX-Offsprings. Low grade amnestics were administered to the population of the surrounding area and the apartment building was closed and sanitized.
Addendum 14-166: Test Log
For brevity, only significant tests are displayed.
Test 11A - 04/03/19██
Subject: D-432002
Procedure: A colture of SCP-XXXX was attached to the outer left thigh of the subject, and D-432002 was kept contained in a standard cell with basic amenities. After three weeks, the cyst reached its mature stage, covering most of D-432002 left leg, groin and abdomen. Three sets of samples were collected, 1 kg each harvested at a different time; respectively 2-weeks, 4-weeks and 8-weeks into the infection. The samples where then subjected to Reisengard's procedure for anomalous matter. Subject D-432002 carried the infection to its offspring phase, then was administered a C-class amenstic and kept in quarantine for 40 days before being reassigned.
Results: 2-weeks old samples showed the same anomalous properties of the red cyst. Later stages showed a stark resemblance to human cells and tissues.

Test 13A - 24/03/19██
Subject: Test Sample 8022-11A
Procedure: 500 grams of the sample were cut into slices and cooked on a hot stove for ten minutes. They were then served to three Foundation-certified cannibals, unaware of the source material.
Results: The three cannibals reported a taste indistinguishable from human flesh. One inquired if any spice was used during the cooking.

Test 34A - 01/05/19██
Subject: SCP-XXXX-Offspring generated by previous testing, labeled "J-11A".
Procedure: Cognitive assessment tests were administered to J-11A. The specimen acted passively through most tests, either due to a lack of understanding or interest. Tracking of the proto-head movements showed reactions to basic shapes and colours

Addendum 34-466-X: Following incident [DATA EXPUNGED], SCP-XXXX must not be contained on live hosts. It has been showed that matures instances of the parasite can survive on fresh dead humans. Containment procedures have been updated to include a severed limb as the preferred food source.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in an electrically insulated containment room. The outer layer of the walls must employ an effective faraday cage to block any kind of electromagnetic signal breaking containment. Furthermore, the room must be in a offline Sector; access to both the internet and the Foundation private network are to be strictly prohibited.
Furthermore, any item entering SCP-XXXX room has to be examined by a two Security Officers with a special training in dealing with information security and memetic hazards. Electrical appliances of any kind, storage devices, books, newspapers, notebooks and any form of written media are to be kept out of the room, unless given a written and recorded authorization by a level 4 Senior Researcher.
While SCP-XXXX has been cooperative, and sometime her help has been unvaluable to the Foundation, no laxism should be allowed in the following of these procedures.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a sentient multidimensional entity usually appearing as a small spider. SCP-XXXX is capable both of telepathic and normal means of communication in friendly tone, usually resembling that of a young woman. SCP-XXXX refers to herself as "Sister Longlegs" and has been, until now, very cooperative with the containment procedures.
Sister Longlegs was discovered in 1999, following MTF Eta-10 ("See No Evil") investigation of the early phenomena of "urban legends" and "creepypastas" in the early Internet. While many of those tales were of little to no interest, some led to the discovery of network-based memetic agents. SCP-XXXX was referenced as "the spider you can't crush", featured in a dozen amateur horror stories from different sources. In some forums the tale was followed by low fidelity video of a human subject repeatedly trying to squash a spider with a solid object (shoe, slipper, book) his hand or his foot. Each of those attempts was ineffective, as the spider is shown surviving the blow without any visible damage.
Preliminary analysis showed that the video was authentic and was traced back to an house in the outskirts in Mexico City. MTF Eta-10 was sent to investigate and eventually discovered SCP-XXXX.
