Special Containment Procedures: The two components of SCP-XXXX are kept on a shelf inside the office of Dr. █████, and are to be “played with” on a weekly basis. Staff access to SCP-XXXX is unrestricted by standard Foundation procedures, and is instead overseen by Dr. █████ himself. The doctor has stated for the record that “All you need to do is ask, and don’t damage it.” Direct D-class access is prohibited by Dr. █████, although he does allow them to “enjoy the show”.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a pair of objects referred to as SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-1 is a polystyrene scale model of a naval vessel of varying class, size, period of service and make. Chemical examination of all studied variants of SCP-XXXX-1 indicate that they are all made of polystyrene, regardless of the model selected. All paint is chemically identical to various mixes of the Testors®️ brand. The glue binding the pieces of every studied model has not been identified and is unable to be separated. SCP-XXXX-2 is what seems to be a black universal remote, although the standard button setup has been replaced with an LED screen and an alphabetic keypad. While all studied models of SCP-XXXX-1 have proven impossible to take apart without damaging them (See Appendix XXXX.1a), samples are able to be scraped off and the object appears to fix itself within minutes. SCP-XXXX-2 is able to be taken apart. However, several of the pieces have proven both indestructible and anomalous, and thus the object has been left alone.

When a class, type, make, or model of naval vessel is input into the keypad on SCP-XXXX-2, SCP-XXXX-1 will spontaneously transform into a suitably sized (See Appendix XXXX.2a) polystyrene model of that vessel. High-speed footage has not revealed what happens during the process. If the vessel is placed into a suitably sized volume of water (preferably a large pool), it begins exhibiting anomalous autonomous behaviour. See Testing Logs for details on the effects. If SCP-XXXX-1 is in the presence of other non-anomalous naval vessel models, they will begin moving autonomously through unknown means. If SCP-XXXX-1 is currently in the form of an armed naval vessel, it will begin to “play out” battle scenarios, presenting high intelligence related to navy battle tactics used in the period that the vessel it imitates was in service during. The other autonomous vessels, hereby instances of SCP-XXXX-1-A, will move, sink and fire back accordingly. Once SCP-XXXX-1 has “won” the battle scenario presented, all instances of SCP-XXXX-1-A will cease autonomous behavior and return to their previous state, regardless of damage done during the scenario.

+ Testing Logs

Items: SCP-XXXX-1 as it was recovered, in the form of a 1:426 model of the USS Arizona, as well as the non-anomalous version of that model.
Testing Area: An inflatable pool, 8 ft x 30 in.
Test Results: The non-anomalous model began autonomous movement upon coming into contact as the same body of water as SCP-XXXX-1. The two objects began a naval battle, with puffs of smoke emerging from the cannon barrels and small projectiles being fired at one another.
A D-class was instructed to place his hand in the way of the projectiles. The D-class reported a feeling like being hit with a spitball, despite the fact that the projectiles were striking the models with visible explosive effects. SCP-XXXX-1 eventually won the scenario, despite the fact that the models were exact replicas of one another. Dr. █████ describes that SCP-XXXX-1 moved around in a circle, giving nearby staff cannon salutes, as if pleased at the scenario and its victory.

Items: SCP-XXXX-1 in the form of a 1:426 model of the USS Kitty Hawk and two non-anomalous 1:350 models of the USS Arleigh Burke DDG-51.
Testing Area: A rectangular outdoor swimming pool, 37’9” L x 14’1” W x 6’6” D. SCP-XXXX-1 was placed at the opposite end of the pool from the two non-anomalous models.
Test Results: The instances of SCP-XXXX-1-A became autonomous upon immediate contact with the volume of water containing SCP-XXXX-1. The model planes on SCP-XXXX-1’s deck, previously unremovable, became autonomous and took flight through unknown means. The two instances of SCP-XXXX-1-A began firing at the planes and SCP-XXXX-1 as expected. After several minutes of small firecracker-like sounds, a plane from SCP-XXXX-1, visibly a miniature F-18, dived for the engine component of one of the instances of SCP-XXXX-1-A. A large puff of smoke followed, accompanied by a sound described as “like a pistol going off, but more… American.” After SCP-XXXX-1 inevitably won the scenario, it was discovered that the F-18 is now permanently absent from the Kitty Hawk model imitated by SCP-XXXX-1.

Researcher’s Note: After the skirmish, unlike before, the skip spontaneously turned into its original USS Arizona form and gave a 21-gun salute in the direction of the other end of the pool. Whether it’s merely following advanced programming or actually sapient, we don’t know, but it appears to show respect to any pieces it loses in a dramatic fashion during a scenario.

Items: SCP-XXXX-1 in the form of a 1:400 model of a Typhoon-class submarine, as well as a 1:192 model of a Robert H. Smith-class minelayer.
Testing Area: The same rectangular outdoor swimming pool. Test objects were placed in the same manner as the previous test.
Test Results: The minelayer model immediately proved to be outmatched by a model of the largest submarine ever built by humans. SCP-XXXX-1 launched what seemed to be two torpedoes through the pool towards the SCP-XXXX-1-A instance, decimating it. Afterwards, the instance was returned to its original form and became inactive, while SCP-XXXX-1 itself began diving towards the bottom of the pool. Upon retrieval, it spontaneously and unexpectedly transformed into its original USS Arizona form again, firing salutes in what was described by Dr. █████ as “sounding like its own form of laughter”.

Researcher’s Note: The display given by SCP-XXXX-1 at the end of the test seems to prove that it has a degree of sapience, and possibly enjoys these battle scenarios we test it with. I recommend we “play with” SCP-XXXX-1 weekly to prevent any sort of negative mental effects it might experience, if it’s capable of that.

Appendix XXXX.1a
In order to determine the source of its anomalous effects, various forms of SCP-XXXX-1 were studied. Among these attempts were several tries to pull the pieces apart. The models proved impossible to break or take apart in a significant way, although scratches removed enough material for analysis, showing that the models are all made of the same non-anomalous polystyrene.

Appendix XXXX.2a
During the move from the inflatable pool to the backyard pool, it was discovered that the scale of the model SCP-XXXX-1 transforms into is decided by the volume of water it is nearest when SCP-XXXX-2 is used. Ocean testing is not recommended, but a test was done in a lake approximately one mile in diameter. The resulting size of the model (The Bismarck) measured over four feet long. SCP-XXXX was tested in a larger lake, and the same model was selected. The model size remained the same, although larger-scale testing is still prohibited.

Addendum XXXX-1a
The components of SCP-XXXX were recovered in a raid of a MC&D warehouse located in █████,██. They were found in a box licensed by PoI “Dr. Wondertainment”; on the box were the instructions for SCP-XXXX-2, as well as the phrase “Just put it in water and watch it go! (Extra models not provided)”.
