Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a cylindrical container with an inner diametre of at least 0.5 metre and 1 metre in height. It should have at least 0.5 centimetre thick armoured glass and is to be filled with at least 60% concentrated hydrochloric acid.

Revised Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a cylindrical container with an inner diametre of at lest 0.75 metre and 1.5 metres in height. It must have at least 1.5 centimetres thick armoured glass and is to be filled with at least 60% concentrated hydrochloric acid.
This container is to be referred as Containment Chamber 1 or CC1.
CC1 is to be secured in a a room of at least 3x3x4 metres. The room can only be entered through a lock which has 2 reinforced doors. Vents are to be installed in the room as well as in the lock.
This room as well as the lock are to be referred as Containment Chamber 2 or CC2.
All vents in the containment zone of SCP-XXXX are to be meshed with carbon fiber tabs no bigger than 0.5 millimetres. Should SCP-XXXX breach containment of CC1, CC2 is to be flooded with chlorine gas. Should SCP-XXXX breach CC2 then the containment zone is to be sealed off and chlorine gas to be vented into the containment zone. In the latter event the STF must take action and the site manager is to be informed.
NOTE: LATER RESEARCH HAS FOUND THAT SCP-XXXX IS HIGHLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO TYPE-███ NERVE AGENTS IN IT'S EXPOSED STATE, USING SUCH WILL LEAD TO DESTRUCTION OF SCP-XXXX AND IS, DUE TO ONGOING RESEARCH ON IT'S REGENERATIVE ABILITIES, CURRENTLY UNWANTED AND ONLY TO BE USED IN THE EVENT OF A TOTAL CONTAINMENT BREACH OF THE OBJECT
Description: SCP-XXXX is in it's exposed state a handball sized, red ball of flesh with three to five 20 centimetres long tentacles originating from it, though it can extend those to up to 1 metre.
It seems to be pulsating, that is because it replaces the outer layers with inner constantly.
That part seems to be the "brain" of SCP-XXXX, and it is the most resistant part of it, where normal
agents or chlorine gas fail to further deconstruct it. Though it can be stunned with Type-A anaesthetics for about 25 minutes.
SCP-XXXX is able to to split it's "brain" and and over the period of 1.5 hours fully regain it's former size. The time SCP-XXXX needs to form a second "brain" seems to be the same regardless of it's size, although while consuming people it is able to transform their brains and therefore only needing about 1/24 of the original time. There is no indication that instances of SCP-XXXX are able to communicate, though a kind of swarm intelligence was noticed. Those instances are to be named SCP-XXXX-1,2,etc.
NOTE: CURRENTLY ALL OTHER INSTANCES OF SCP-XXXX ARE TO BE TERMINATED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
The "outer" layer of SCP-XXXX seems to be normal tissue and is, in contrast to it's "brain", not able to replicate on it's own and is furthermore susceptible to chlorine gas. Depending on it's size it possesses 30 to 300 teeth split between one to five mouths, has two to five pairs of eyes and is able to move them around freely.
Even though it possesses teeth it doesn't need to eat, through it's mouth it is furthermore able to shoot tentacles, pulling subjects into it.
Incident XXXX-023 has shown that SCP-XXXX's outer cells have the ability to "transform" and therefore adapt to numerous situations, namely:
- Tentacles
- SCP-XXXX's regenerative abilities allow it to grow tentacles at a fast rate, it is also able to transform cells into building tentacles. During Incident XXXX-023 it had more than 50 tentacles reaching out of it, able to accelerate it to up to 80km/h in 0.7 seconds. While it was bigger it was now able to extend the tentacles to 12 metres. It was also able to harden the tips of those and pierce site personnel wearing bullet proof wests with no problem. It is currently unknown if SCP-XXXX is able to harden it's entire skin, due to the nature of the SCP this possibility must be taken into account.
- Transporting agents
- SCP-XXXX is able to collect nerve agents internally and remove them from its organism using it's "outer" layer. Research has shown that nerve agents might have a subtle distraction effect, but during possession of it's "outer" layer any sign of halt must be deemed a luring tactic.
- Usage of dead cells
- SCP-XXXX is able to use it's cells as a shield, protecting it from extreme temperatures, these have ranged from as low as -260 °C to more than 1600 °C, the usage of flamethrowers or liquid nitrogen systems is therefore not advised. Research has shown that long exposures to either high or low temperatures will eventually have an effect on SCP-XXXX, though only fires with temperatures above ████ °C have been able to terminate it.
- Spikes
- SCP-XXXX is able to grow spikes out of it's "outer" layer. In contrast to it's hardened tentacles the spikes are much thinner and are stationary. In order for SCP-XXXX to get rid of them it has to shoot them out, while those spikes can do severe damage to personnel when shot SCP-XXXX uses them for charging into crowds.
Addendum [XXXX-001]: Incident XXXX-023
On 03/02/20██ SCP-XXXX started to grow more than it normally would but it stopped when it was 800 grams above it's median weight. The concentration of hydrochloric acid was increased to 95% but it didn't seem to have any effect. A MTF was stationed at the site in case of a containment breach. 5 hours after the growth rate increased the objects outer layer was destroyed as usual and the MTF was moved from Site-██ after 14 days of no unusual activity.
On 21/02/20██ SCP-XXXX started again, to grow, but at an even higher rate than before. 3 minutes after the growth started, the rate increased and it was now growing at an exponential rate, doubling in size roughly every minute until it reached a mass of about 1700 kilograms. Meanwhile the vicinity of SCP-XXXX was cleared of unecessary personnel and site guards were stationed. While this process was executed SCP-XXXX managed to break free and killed the two scientists as well as the guard in immediate vicinity of the container. SCP-XXXX then began to hunt down the site personnel. It was now as big as a small car but even then it was able to crawl through the vents in the containment zone with no problems and pulled personnel into them. After most personnel were evacuated the containment zone was sealed. Almost nobody who was left behind at this time returned alive. About 4 minutes after the containment area was sealed SCP-XXXX noticed the CCTV's and began to destroy them, after 6 minutes getting visual of SCP-XXXX was impossible. After 2 hours and three other breaches MTF Epsilon-11 ("Nine-Tailed Fox") took over Site-██ and cleared the zone of any SCP.

Foreword: Interviewing the only survivor of Incident XXXX-023

Dr.█████: Good morning, how do you feel today?
Researcher Meier: How should I feel? After seeing that thing.
Dr.█████: Weren't you informed about it when you got assigned to your position?
Researcher Meier: (screaming) Of course I was! But it was small, more like a cat and not like an elephant!
Dr.█████: Yes, that shocked everyone. Could you please state what exactly happened after it breached containment?
Researcher Meier: (aggressive) It killed every single one of them, everyone, it ate them, grew, and ate even more! The only thing it did was (screaming) eating people!
Dr.█████: We know that much, could you go into more detail? What was the first thing it did?
Researcher Meier: It stretched out it's tentacles, not one metre, more like ten, and pulled itself down the corridor. Thank god it wasn't the one I was standing in. We were all paralysed at first, we watched researchers get smashed on the ground, on the walls, even on the ceiling. And then they got torn to shreds, their screams, it was pure agony. At least it went quick (pause) for most.
Dr.█████: What do you mean for most?
Researcher Meier: You remember when you locked it in light containment? As soon as it realized we were locked in with it it started to kill us slowly, making a game out of it. Going through the vents, pulling us in, ripping or arms and legs off and throwing them in the hallway, showing us what it would do if it catches us.
Dr.█████: When did it notice it was locked in light containment?
Researcher Meier: I don't know (pause) it felt like hours, but thinking back (pause) probably ten or twenty minutes.
Dr.█████: What did you do then?
Researcher Meier: I went to its containment area, I thought it wouldn't come back.
Dr.█████: And it didn't come back.
Researcher Meier: No of course not. It played cat and mouse with the other researchers and the Class-D's. Every once in a while you heard a scream, and sometimes the screams came closer and you began to wonder how long your own tornment would last. Maybe thirty seconds, maybe a minute, you hope you'll just die quickly, if I had a weapon back then, I wouldn't be alive anymore.
Dr.█████: You can consider yourself lucky then.
Researcher Meier: I don't know about that. I've heard too many die, I still hear them scream, even now. (stuttering) I…I just can't take it anymore, I feel like I am alive because everyone died, because they couldn't be with me, because it would've found out, (stuttering) if…if I had lured it away with me, maybe everyone would be safe now. If I had lured it with me, it hadn't been able to slaughter everyone, but I couldn't do anything.
Dr.█████: There's no confirmation that XXXX would have reacted to anything you couls've done.
Researcher Meier: Even so, I just feel like I could've saved everyone, but of course I couldn't. Have you heard enough? Can I go now?

Closing Statement: The subject seems to have strong internal conflicts about his past actions, he is a precious new researcher nonetheless so psychological therapy is advised.

Addendum [XXXX-002]: Incident XXXX-024
On 11/04/20██ SCP-XXXX started to grow at an alarming rate again, then, 3 minutes later it was doubling in size every 55 seconds, CC2 was sealed off and unneeded staff was evacuated of the containment zone. It reached a mass of about 2050 kilograms and was able to damage CC1, but it couldn't breach containment like last time. It then began to grow spikes and exert pressure on areas varying from 0.30 to 0.56 millimetres. When it breached CC1 CC2 was quickly floodes with chlorine gas, this started to quickly decompose the "outer" layer of SCP-XXXX. It's use of dead cells was also ineffective because even though it slowed decomposition down the gas couldn't be stopped by the layers of dead cells. During decomposure of it's "outer" layer SCP-XXXX began to attack the door of the lock and was able to damage it substantionally and it had to be replaced later. Before it could overcome it the SCP was back in it's exposed state and was recontained.
Addendum [XXXX-003]: Incident XXXX-083
On 29/11/20██ roughly 4 years after Incident XXXX-024, SCP-XXXX started growing exponentionally without earlier increases, doubling in size every 45 seconds. CC2 was again sealed off and the STF was on standby given the circumstances. It reached a final mass of 2400 kilograms but didn't do anything for the following 30 minutes. The concentration of hydrochloric acid was then increased to 95% but besides minor increases in movements that could also be due to random chance, to no notable effect. SCP-XXXX remained in this state for 7 days, only then began the hydrochloric acid to decompose it as usual.

D-3372-14 receives a MRI scan showing no development of SCP-XXXX's cells.

The first scan shows, that SCP-XXXX's cells have doubled, due to that being the cause for D-3372-14's stomach ache is unlikely, more detailed scans have been administered.
These scans show that SCP-XXXX's cells have merged with D-3372-14's cells.
Weak pain relievers for D-3372-14 have been administered for single use.
09/08/20██, 10/08/20██, 11/08/20██, 12/08/20██
The following days D-3372-14 reported nothing unusual and also appered fine.
MRI scans showed the following:
09/08/20██: Diametre of SCP-XXXX's cells was now at 3,2 centimetres.
10/08/20██: Diametre of SCP-XXXX's cells was now at 4,8 centimetres.
11/08/20██: Diametre of SCP-XXXX's cells was now at 5,5 centimetres.
12/08/20██: Diametre of SCP-XXXX's cells was now at 6,1 centimetres.
D-3372-14 receives a MRI scan showing cells of SCP-XXXX now had an diametre of 15,8 centimetres.
Despite the size of the tumor D-3372-14 reported only slight aches.
Surgical removal was administered and executed at 15:55. No treatment was necessary.
CONCLUSION: SCP-XXXX'S "OUTER" CELLS GROW, IF DIGESTED, TO A TUMOR WHICH HAS TO BE SURGICALLY REMOVED TO PREVENT HEALTH ISSUES, SCP-XXXX'S "OUTER" CELLS HAVE FURTHERMORE NOT SHOWN ANY SIGN OF INTELLIGENCE NOR HAVE THEY SPREAD

D-3375-31 lays D-3342-74 on the MRI scanner.
The MRI scan shows that the cells now weight, based on the volume, about 17 grams but have stretched out to his left kneecap. There were also other branches coming from existing ones, currently there are 5 main branches and 44 sub-branches.
D-3342-74 reports severe pain when the administered pain relievers effect weared off. Another dose was authorized.
D-3375-31 is sent into D-3342-74's room with a labcoat and equipment for a routine examination, D-3375-31 then helps D-3342-74 onto the MRI scanner. The MRI scan shows that SCP-XXXX's cells now have an approximate mass of 283 grams and reach to the toes of the left leg and to the femur of the right leg, the fingers of both arms and the lung of D-3342-74. Currently there are 5 main branches, 164 sub-branches and 1594 even smaller branches, likely connecting to the nerves and/or cappilaries of D-3342-74.
Dr.█████: I know you have been under strong drugs for the last hours but do you feel anything unusual besides that? Maybe sometimes your muscle twitches and you dont know why?
D-3342-74: No, no, no, no, no, no, my biceps are good as they are. They don't move on their own.

TERMINATION PROCEDURES
First Response:
A group of MTF's is to be established. Must include MTF Lambda-12 ("Pest Control") and MTF Zeta-9 ("Mole Rats"). If the STF of Site-43 has not been terminated they are to follow and monitor SCP-XXXX, under no circumstances are they to close in or attempt to terminate SCP-XXXX until rendezvous with the newly formed MTF group, SCP-XXXX is then to be engaged and terminated.
Additionally, at least 2 drones capable of launching multiple missiles and the ability to monitor SCP-XXXX via camera are to be launched. A live satellite feed is to be established if possible.
Visual Lost/MTF's Terminated:
If visual of SCP-XXXX is lost one MTF stays in vicinity of last known location, the other MTF's and the drones widen their search area and try to locate SCP-XXXX.
Should SCP-XXXX not be relocated in under 15 minutes an area of 180 squarekilometres around SCP-XXXX's last known location is to be created and saturation nuclear bombing to be executed.
If the MTF's are terminated immediate nuclear bombing on SCP-XXXX's location is to be executed.
SCP-XXXX Exeeds Limits:
If SCP-XXXX exeeds any of the following limits immediate nuclear bombing is to be executed.
- SCP-XXXX covers an area greater than 10 squarekilometres, this also occurs when either:
- Instances of SCP-XXXX are more than 10 kilometres apart
- One instance of SCP-XXXX has two parts that are more than 10 kilometres apart
- SCP-XXXX has more than 5 breached instances
- SCP-XXXX is less than 20 kilometres from a biomass-rich area away
- SCP-XXXX is less than 60 kilometres from a densely populated area away
If any instance of SCP-XXXX is sighted in a densely populated area immediate nuclear bombing is to be executed.
POST TERMINATION PROCEDURES
Any area SCP-XXXX has been present is to be sterilised using Type-ZVX Nerve Agents and Dimethylmercury. Additionally, the area has to be monitored for at least 12 months, if any activity of SCP-XXXX is noticed all instructions of TERMINATION PROCEDURES are to be carried out again.
