Formerly SCP-3474 (for like a day).
Two instances of SCP-3474 in containment.
Item #: SCP-3474
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-3474 are to be kept in a plexiglass tank suited for the containment of small fish and other aquatic life. Tank should be within the dimensions of 40cm x 30cm x 30cm. Removal of SCP-3474 instances from said tank are only permitted for the purpose of testing, and must be carried out by personnel with level 2 access or higher.
Specimens must be returned to containment within twelve (12) hours, unless termination has occurred. Containment tank is to be monitored with no fewer than two motion tracking cameras, positioned around the container to ensure there are no blind spots in the view. SCP-3474 instances do not require feeding. Despite specimens producing no waste products, the tank should be equipped with a filter to ensure maximum visibility.
Note: SCP-3474 is currently kept in Small Containment Room 11 of Site ██.
Description: SCP-3474 is the collective designation given to (at this point in time) 8 anomalous members of the species carassius auratus1.
The most identifiable anomalous trait is the absence of all facial and bodily orifices, with the exception of the gills.
Instances display poor directional and spatial awareness, will frequently bump against the walls of their containment tank, and occasionally each other.
In addition to unusual anatomy, SCP-3474 specimens appear to age at a rate fifty percent slower than standard. Lifespan is theorized to slightly exceed that of a non-anomalous goldfish.2
Instances survive approximately 90 hours in a non-aquatic environment, but will attempt to move towards their point of origin. The most effective method of termination is cutting open the subject with any implement; most manners of direct harm would also be sufficient.
Upon removal of any number of specimens from the tank, the remaining fish will cease swimming momentarily before proceeding as normal. If, after a period of twelve hours, the removed subject(s) are not returned (due to their termination or otherwise), a new instance SCP-3474 will anomalously materialize among the fish in the original tank, and will continue doing so once every hour until there are eight inside.
Test Log 3474-1 (3/26/18)
09:31:57: One instance of SCP-3474 was removed for chemical analysis.
Momentary halt of activity in other specimens noted.
Results not dissimilar to average, non-anomalous goldfish.
13:48:09: SCP-3474 instance returned to containment
Test concluded
Test Log 3474-2 (4/03/18)
Permission granted by Dr. █████ for autopsy of one (1) specimen.
09:26:03: Subject removed from water and continued to exhibit life signs for 6 minutes, at which point subject was bisected.
Examination reveals an absence of digestive and reproductive organs; the space where they would be found is filled with tissue. Other systems function as normal. Lack of optic nerve noted.
Remains disposed of, test concluded
Test Log 3474-2b (4/03/18)
21:25:58: <Security footage of containment chamber shows remaining SCP-3474 specimens beginning to swarm together.>
21:26:04: <Specimens disperse and 8 instances are counted as opposed to the previous seven.>
Notes: The change in number was reported the next morning. Review of camera footage prompting further tests.

Test Log 3474-4 (4/05/18)
08:00:07: One SCP-3474 instance removed from tank
08:00:16: Subject placed into separate tank
<Twelve hours elapse>
20:00:03: Specimens in original tank crowd together as with previous test
20:00:09: Specimens disperse and eight (8) instances are counted
20:00:14: Lone specimen in second tank swims deeper in its container, and appears to drag itself across the bottom for several seconds.
20:00:23: Subject rises and reveals second instance has been created
21:00:15: Both subjects in second tank circle around each other rapidly
21:00:18: Third instance is sighted moving between the other two
21:17:58: All specimens in second tank terminated
Testing concluded
Note: After some discussion, we have decided to reclassify SCP-3474 as a minor anomaly, as opposed to a full SCP classification.

Incident Log 3474-6/██/18
On 6/██/18, Junior Researcher B█████ reported a sudden loud disturbance emanating from the storage closet adjacent to (former) SCP-3474's chamber. He soon after notified security, as the closet had been locked since testing had ended.
The closet contained approximately 1600 dead instances of SCP-3474 in varying states of decay, as well as 8 which still exhibited life . Most of these instances appeared to have spilled out from the secondary fishtank used in previous experiments. The tank in question seemed to have fallen or was knocked to the floor, with the shelf it was resting on being dislodged from its bracket3.
Deceased and living specimens found in incident incinerated and involved tank destroyed. No further related anomalous activity detected after 24 hours.
Note: Due to Incident 3474-6/██/18, reinstatement of SCP status is being considered.

Initial Recovery: SCP-3474 was recovered from a pet store located in ███████████, ██████. An advertisement leaflet, dubbed Document 3474-A, was taped to the fish tank that SCP-3474 was found in.
