Item #: SCP-5751

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: All testing with SCP-5751 is to be temporarily paused until further notice.

SCP-5751 is to be kept inside a 6 m x 6 m x 4 m cell at all times. There is to be a working vacuum system inside the airlock located outside the cell, and a gas chamber located above the cell for easy gas release and collection. The cell is to be monitored by at least one security personnel 24/7. SCP-5751 is to be cleaned and polished once a week by no more than one level 1 clearance janitor. The use of a D-class is also permitted. Personnel cleaning SCP-5751 are to wear latex gloves at all times while performing the task, and are to avoid making contact with SCP-5751 while not wearing their gloves.

Should one come into contact with SCP-5751 that is not with latex gloves (who will be referred to as SCP-5751-1), the cell airlock doors are to be immediately closed and the carbon monoxide gas valves opened. Personnel are only to be allowed back inside once SCP-5751-1 is killed, removed from the cell and incinerated.

Description: SCP-5751 is an old smokey grey colored sandal made for the right foot, measuring approximately 0.25 m in length and 0.1 m in width, indicating it were made to be worn by a child. SCP-5751 was retrieved from a house located in █████, ██████, after reports of carbon monoxide leaking out of the house. All residents of the house were found dead, and those who had seen the SCP at work were administered class B amnestics. No company names were found on the shoe, so it is indeterminable where SCP-5751 was manufactured. The tag on the sandal appears to have been scratched off, so further information is currently being gathered.

If SCP-5751 is not cleaned within two weeks, it will begin to leak carbon monoxide, and will not stop until cleaned appropriately. If SCP-5751 is seen leaking carbon monoxide, the Site Director is to be immediately notified. (See Incident-5751-1-A.) It is unknown at this point where the carbon monoxide that leaks from SCP-5751 is produced or comes from.

When SCP-5751-1 comes into direct contact with SCP-5751, no anomalous effects are shown or are recorded to occur immediately upon connection of the two. However, around 38 hours after this event, SCP-5751-1 will die from unknown causes, presumably from anomalous effects produced by SCP-5751. Soon afterwards, SCP-5751 will begin moving around in a circle with a radius of approximately 2.98 meters. A ghostly form of SCP-5751-1 can be seen when viewed through infra-red goggles. SCP-5751-1 appears to be wearing SCP-5751 and will show no signs of notice when interacted with. This process will continue without stopping for around 1 hour and 24 minutes until SCP-5751-1 eventually disappears and SCP-5751 returns to a immobile state. This process can be stopped entirely if SCP-5751-1 is killed by carbon monoxide within 1 hour of contact with SCP-5751. It has also been recorded that when a human wearing latex gloves comes into contact with SCP-5751, the process does not trigger.

"No further incidents have taken place since then, however, testing is to be paused until we can figure this out." - Dr. ████████, Site-██ Site Director
