Bloodletting
Figure 1: SCP-XXXX during initial incubation.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Instances of SCP-XXXX are held in a 0.2 mL vial stored through standard cryopreservation means at Site-66. Suspected instances of SCP-XXXX-A are to be captured and studied for effects of SCP-XXXX, as the symptoms manifested are still evolving and unknown. When observing instances of SCP-XXXX-A, all personnel shall adhere to Biosafety Level 4 (BSL-4) precautions. Upon death, all instances of SCP-XXXX-A are to be left for a period of 48 hours to allow the infectious agent to expire before handling the remains. All remains of SCP-XXXX-A are to be cremated fully, and the ashes disposed of in adherence to BSL-4 precautions. A cure is to be developed for SCP-XXXX as soon as possible, as the current reported treatment is unable to be located.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a parasitic life-form similar to Gongylonema pulchrum that inhabits the gums of a human host, designated SCP-XXXX-A. SCP-XXXX was purchased by Barnardo Dental Applications LLC to tamper with and use for financial gain. Within 24 hours, SCP-XXXX creates calcifications within the gums of SCP-XXXX-A to feed off of the nutrients within the bloodstream. It is speculated that prior to tampering, SCP-XXXX would continue to make calcifications within the mouths of SCP-XXXX-A and eventually expand inward towards the jaw and possibly the throat and brain. Due to a lack of observable instances of SCP-XXXX prior to tampering, it is unknown at this time whether SCP-XXXX was a benign anomalous object or a normal parasitic infection.
SCP-XXXX has a variable incubation period between 30 minutes to 2 hours. During this time, it siphons nutrients from SCP-XXXX-A's gums and calcifies the bloodstream, creating a more suitable environment. Over the course of 24 hours, SCP-XXXX will continue to create these calcifications until they expose themselves from SCP-XXXX-A's gums. These will act as a natural irrigation for the blood in the hosts system, causing fatal hemorrhaging due to the anti-coagulant agent produced by SCP-XXXX. When SCP-XXXX has reached this final stage, SCP-XXXX-A will begin to sputter and cough, as its airway will be compromised by the profuse amount of blood streaming out of its mouth. SCP-XXXX is transmittable through droplet and airborne passage, making this the most infectious stage of SCP-XXXX's lifecycle.
Recovered Patient Reports: Detailed below are relevant patient reports annotating SCP-XXXX's evolution from what is believed to be its original state to its current, more violent form. Prior to discovery, the documents were severely damaged by Barnardo Dental Applications LLC, likely in an attempt to destroy any evidence of their involvement. These reports were all that was recoverable and have been declassified for Level 2 security clearance personnel. Due to the stop order on experimentation by Site Director Dr. Thomas Henway, these documents are the only reference with which the Foundation is able to ascertain the nature of SCP-XXXX.1
Debrief XXXX-I: The following is the debrief by Intelligence Officer ███████, who was dispatched to Caracas, Venezuela after Foundation assets were reported missing.
«NOTICE: Sanitization #HB9 Protocol initiated // Alias randomly generated and assigned»
Interviewed: Intelligence Officer [ANDERSON].
Interviewer: Dr. Ogle // SCP-XXXX Project Lead
Foreword: Debrief interview of IO [ANDERSON]'s findings in Caracas, Brazil.
<BEGIN LOG>
Dr. Ogle: Dr. Ogle, interviewing Intelligence Officer [ANDERSON] in reference to SCP-XXXX's discovery and retrieval. The date is [REDACTED], time: sixteen thirty. So, [ANDERSON], let's start with why you were in Caracas.
[ANDERSON]: I was dispatched to Caracas when Foundation assets failed to check in twice. Standard procedure dictates that an intelligence officer assigned to the region is to investigate when an asset fails to check in more than once.
Dr. Ogle: I see. Please continue.
[ANDERSON]: I arrived in Caracas and made contact with another Foundation asset within the city, who's duty was to keep track of those assets that were, at the time, considered AWOL. I exchanged the appropriate amount of currency approved for an intelligence report from the asset and learned that our people hadn't deserted, but had gone missing.
Dr. Ogle: Why did this asset not report of their disappearance.
[ANDERSON]: The asset explained that it was sick at the time and was being taken care of by their family. Due to the state of medicine in the region, it didn't surprise me that he was unable to report on their disappearance. He even explained he didn't know about it until it was too late. I'd arrived before he even had the chance.
Dr. Ogle: Very well, please continue.
[ANDERSON]: He explained that prior to falling ill, the assets in question had been hearing rumors of disappearances near Caracas and had gone to investigate. Apparently, these missing persons were all concentrated West of the city.
Dr. Ogle: It's to my understanding that Caracas has a crime problem. What would make them think that people going missing was so strange?
[ANDERSON]: There wasn't much West of the city. It wasn't a steady stream either, but rather several people vanishing at once. Not just homeless, but people that would be noticed. Members of the community that, in his words, mattered. So they decided to go and check the place out.
Dr. Ogle: And that's when they found the hospital?
[ANDERSON]: I'm of the opinion the people working at the hospital found them instead. They weren't Foundation personnel, doctor.
Dr. Ogle: Very well. Please continue.
[ANDERSON]: I decided to rent out a vehicle and traveled to the last known location of the assets. I went from the heart of the city to the slums. Immediately I started to get a bad feeling. You ever been to a slum, doctor?
Dr. Ogle: No, sir, I've had the good fortune to avoid them.
[ANDERSON]: Usually, the people there instantly will recognize outsiders. Gangs ruling the area have children looking out watching for anybody coming in. Usually the police, but rival gangs too. But I didn't notice anything… it was strange. Nobody was out, windows were boarded up, and some of the doors had spray painted X's on them. I knew something wasn't right, but I kept going.
Dr. Ogle: What made you continue instead of stopping to question the local populace?
[ANDERSON]: The asset I spoke to mentioned that they were going to an abandoned hospital. The only one I could find on the map was that one. I guess the assets thought a perfect place to find kidnapped people would be some place nobody would want to go to. I'm not really sure if they were looking for something that was useful to the Foundation, or if this was an instance of attempted vigilante justice.
Dr. Ogle: Okay. Tell me about the hospital.
[ANDERSON]: Well, it was most certainly abandoned when I got there. I'd parked a few clicks away from it on the map and had staked it out for a few hours hoping to see something… anything at all. But I couldn't.
Dr. Ogle: And then you decided to enter?
[ANDERSON]: Yes. I'd had enough and entered the hospital through the main entrance. It was… well I was surprised.
Dr. Ogle: What did you see? For the record, please.
[ANDERSON]: Doctor… the smell alone was… too much. I gagged immediately, and I could hear flies buzzing around. Some might have been dead for god knows how long.
Dr. Ogle: So you saw the dead as you entered?
[ANDERSON]: No, I could just smell them… I didn't want to go in, but with just that evidence alone I knew I had to at least check it out so I could have something to report when I requested backup. So I continued in. Doctor… there was blood everywhere. On the walls, the counters, the floors. I mean… it's like somebody had just gone to town on the patients in there. Some of the rooms had multiple dead bodies in them, covered in what I now know was their own blood.
Dr. Ogle: I see. Our assumption was correct. SCP-XXXX did somehow breach containment and, by your own account, it appears it infected everybody in the building. You're lucky you arrived a day later, as that blood was all infected. Thankfully, SCP-XXXX had expired by the time you set foot in the door.
[ANDERSON]: I'm quite aware how things could have gone, doctor. At any rate, nobody was alive. At least, none that I could find. I could smell burnt flesh, which I would eventually discover that the smell came from attempts to burn the bodies of infected persons, as well as most of the intelligence that was related to this incident.
Dr. Ogle: All that was left were those four patient reports and a few purchase cables, yes?
[ANDERSON]: Yeah. We're handing the intel part, but the patient reports were declassified so you wouldn't have to use this thing. It seems like even though all precautions were taken, one tiny error somehow lead to the whole facility being wiped out.
Dr. Ogle: Yes well, after reading those reports, I'm glad we're not subjecting anybody to its effects.
[ANDERSON]: Some of those people had choked to death on their own blood… they scratched at their own throats to try and get some air. Others clawed at the walls. Concrete walls… this hospital was old, and decrepit. I'm not sure what those dental guys were up to, but Christ, they used such a dirty place. They didn't care at all about who they hurt, that's for sure.
Dr. Ogle: I read in your report that the patients had poor living conditions.
[ANDERSON]: It was like a concentration camp… like Josef Mengele himself had somehow come back from the dead and just… did this to these people. Their bodies were piled up in these small rooms when they died, and then burned. I have no idea how they worked in these conditions. Maybe they did it because the corpses had taken up all the ground outside.
Dr. Ogle: A mass grave?
[ANDERSON]: Yeah, pretty much.
Dr. Ogle: Tell me about how you found SCP-XXXX.
[ANDERSON]: Not much to tell really, I found a locked box with a note taped to with a key code. I open it and it was a cryostorage box with a couple vials of the stuff. The name was scratched off so I don't know what these guys called it but I could tell it was what caused everything.
Dr. Ogle: And that's when you called the Foundation.
[ANDERSON]: Yeah. I shut the lock box, pulled out the sat-phone, and called in for retrieval.
Dr. Ogle: I see. Well, Mr. [ANDERSON], thank you for your time. I apologize for the questioning, we just wanted to get what happened on audio.
[ANDERSON]: I get it… I think I need a shower now.
Dr. Ogle: Have a good day, Mr. [ANDERSON].
<END LOG>
Closing Statement: Intelligence Officer [ANDERSON] has been assigned to the tracking and retrieval of instances of SCP-XXXX, as well as to uncover the manufacturer of SCP-XXXX.
Dead Signals
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: As SCP-XXXX can only be heard in the Cascadia (PNW) region, standard radio-transmission jamming protocols are to be observed between frequencies (24) - (26) MHz. Foundation assets are to infiltrate prominent amateur radio clubs within the region and monitor for any signs of SCP-XXXX. Should a transceiver receive SCP-XXXX, Foundation retrieval is to confiscate it and administer class A amnestics. The transceiver is to be designated SCP-XXXX-1 and placed within a standard Foundation containment chamber at Area-13 with other instances of SCP-XXXX-1. D-Class personnel with experience in amateur radio are to monitor SCP-XXXX-1 within the designated frequency range for SCP-XXXX transmissions. SCP-XXXX-1 is not to be used for transmission, by order of the area director.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an anomalous radio transmission of unknown origin. SCP-XXXX can be heard through the use of a standard amateur radio, designated SCP-XXXX-1, by listening to frequencies (24) - (26) MHz. Every (24) hours, SCP-XXXX-1 will activate and transmit SCP-XXXX which, at time of documentation, is presumed to be a male of unknown age conducting reports on a landscape presumed to be of anomalous nature. See Transmission Logs for currently recorded transcripts.
A
Addendum XXXX.01: It has been determined that SCP-XXXX is a transmission used for reconnaissance and intelligence purposes. It is unknown at this time if the male is of a currently known Group of Interest (GoI), or a lone actor. Investigation on this matter is currently underway

911 Emergency
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: A disinformation campaign is to be maintained in regards to events related to instances of SCP-XXXX. Foundation personnel are to isolate SCP-XXXX-A from its peers when a new instance of SCP-XXXX is discovered. Information on events centering around SCP-XXXX is to be sanitized, with unauthorized personnel being administered class A amnestics.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a series of 911 phone calls occurring within ████ County, W█. Each call consists of a subject closely acquainted with the answering operator, designated SCP-XXXX-A, describing their death. The disposition of the subject is dependent on their personality as known to SCP-XXXX-A. Despite attempts from SCP-XXXX-A to dispatch public service to the location of the subject, the end result will be the death of the subject in the same manner described over the phone. Should a subject not be at the location described, the subject will be compelled to arrive at the destination by SCP-XXXX. This cycle will repeat itself until the death of SCP-XXXX-A.
It is to be noted that the depression experienced by SCP-XXXX-A during these events is not anomalous in nature, but rather a byproduct of the deaths of each subject. As the cycle occurs over a period of six months on average, SCP-XXXX-A does not have an adequate amount of time to fully process each death, leading in its inevitable suicide. To date, all known instances of SCP-XXXX-A have committed suicide as a direct result of events surrounding SCP-XXXX.
Additional Notes: Calls related to SCP-XXXX are usually in length of 00:██ and 01:██. If an interruption is experienced, subjects will call back and continue from where they left off.
