Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXX is to be kept at the Berlin site [REDACTED] within a reinforced blast proof safe, the safe’s password to be changed on a once a week schedule by Dr. Kayner. The safe’s current password is only to be shared with Dr. Kayner, Dr. Sanma and O5 [REDACTED].
Heavy monitoring is required of SCP-XXX’s containment area at all times. All slight changes in containment area environment or the position and condition of the safe are to be reported immediately to Dr. Kayner or Dr. Sanma.

During SCP-XXX active events, task force Zeta and its accompanying medical team should be present throughout the entire 37 minute 41 second event and be ready to enact surgical removal procedure of SCP from the host body. Once removed the SCP must be re-contained in its blast proof safe. At no circumstance must SCP-XXX be touched by bare human hands during this process. Any personnel who fail to correctly follow this rule will have to be subjected to emergency amputation of affected limb, or immediate termination if this is not possible.

During a breach event (see addendum) task force Zeta is permitted to and encourage to use all incendiary munitions and weaponry on sight in order to slow or temporarily destroy SCP-XXX whilst an appropriate D-Class personnel is secured and provided to it so that it will return to its active event phase, containment then possible afterwards.

In the event of SCP destruction, task force Zeta instructed to return to initial manifestation site (see addendum) to locate and return SCP XXX to containment.

Description: SCP-XXX is a 37 inch tall antique ventriloquist dummy showing signs of disrepair and mild damage, assumed to be age degradation. The dummy is mostly made of artificial material such as wood, plastic and metal however select parts have been revealed through testing to be biological in nature. SCP-XXX's hair is actual human hair, the fingernails on its hands also have been confirmed to be real human fingernails. Attempts to trace DNA identity has been unsuccessful, though it appears to share similar genetic heritage to those with primarily German family backgrounds.
The back of SCP-XXX's collar has the name "Silent Simon" stitched into the clothing with a black thread. All personnel who have been in the physical presence of SCP-XXX have noted that the stitched wording is the first thing to draw their attention about the puppet. Reasons for this are as of yet unknown.

SCP-XXX has displayed sentience multiple times, though often refuses to communicate directly to site personnel or engage in conversation. The SCP does not speak itself, speaking through its current "host" body.

SCP-XXX will remain inactive, as lifeless as a traditional ventriloquist doll, until contact with humans. If a human subject puts SCP-XXX over their arm and attempts to use it, the active phase referred to as "The Show" will begin. The human subject exposed to this will find they cannot remove SCP-XXX from their arm, the limb will have fused to the inside of the doll and only removable by surgical amputation. "The Show" is consistently recorded as a 37 minute, 41 second event in which the human subject, now the victim, is unwillingly controlled by SCP-XXX and forced to perform as a human ventriloquist dummy.

"The Show" varies in content but is always the same length of time. SCP-XXX's first actions are to control the victim's speech, forcing them to say things against their will. Statements are often part of a stand-up comedy routine, varying from family friendly to extremely insulting and offensive depending on the "mood" of SCP-XXX. The victim will begin to lose any control of their mouth, vocal chords and all limbs as SCP-XXX starts taking full control of them. By the end of the first 10 minutes, the victim will no longer have control of these body functions.
Once the 10 minute mark has been reached, "The Show" will get more violent. SCP-XXX will force the victim to enact self torture, the type of torture and its severity being different every victim. SCP-XXX will continue to narrate using the victim's mouth and voice as it makes them enact the self-inflicting pain and mutilation. Although the victim is unable to communicate, observations of facial expressions and eye movement has proven that the victim is indeed still conscious and whilst lacking control certainly experiences all the suffering during "The Show".
SCP-XXX seems to have an innate sense of when to stop enacting torture on its host body to prevent death perfectly at the 37 minute mark, at this point SCP-XXX proceeding to the final phase of "The Show" in which the victim is forced to stand, take a bow and then using their hands remove their own eyes and swallow them. It is at this point the victim experiences a severe organ failure, their innards being inexplicably converted from flesh into wood, metal and plastic replacements. At 37 minutes, 41 seconds "The Show" is considered concluded. All victims have died at the 37 minute, 41 second mark. All control of the host body is relinquished, SCP-XXX falling limp with the victim as their deceased remains collapse.

Discovery: SCP-XXX was found lying in an open grave in Berlin, Germany behind the [REDACTED] theatre which has been abandoned since the second world war. The [REDACTED] theatre was host to many pro Nazi party films and live performances before it was bombed heavily during the end of the war. Attempts to restore the building had been delayed and eventually deserted leaving its walls, roof and entrances half rebuilt and the area condemned for demolition.

Discovery of SCP-XXX occurred on [REDACTED] 2005 when 3 hired construction workers investigated the property area to assess it following the demolition procedure. They did not return, their colleagues investigating to find 2 of them deceased as a result of "The Show" being carried out. The third was only alive for a short while after being found, having already been possessed by SCP-XXX and forced to enact out the show much to the distress of their colleagues.

Task Force Zeta secured the area following the recording of the 911 call made, police being turned away and the construction crew given amnestics. All bodies were destroyed, false medical reports being created stating that SCP-XXX's victims had been killed by a on-site equipment failure that resulted in an explosion.
Due to the risk of SCP-XXX, site [REDACTED] was built upon the foundations of the theatre so that containment could be built as close as possible.

Addendum XXX.1 Experiment Log:

  1. SCP XXX had been deprived of victims whilst in containment to observe results. SCP-XXX grew more restless inside the blast-proof safe over the course of one week. Upon reaching day 8, SCP managed to inexplicably unlock the safe from the inside, exiting its containment and unlocking several more security doors before reaching the on-site breakroom. Dr. Sanma's assistant was attacked by SCP-XXX whilst eating their lunch, SCP-XXX carrying out "The Show" before returning to inactivity.
  2. SCP XXX had been given two D-Class personnel victims instead of the usual one. SCP-XXX chose to enact "The Show" on D-4551, D-3756 being returned to their quarters by security personnel whilst SCP-XXX carried its grisly work through, being returned to containment after. 37 hours after re-containment, SCP-XXX's safe exploded, surveillance cameras watching the containment area catching a fast moving blurr accompanied by a high pitched scream, similar to that of a child. SCP-XXX was located via camera in D-3756's room, D-3756 being exposed to "The Show". Task force Zeta carried out re-containment following the end of the 37 minute, 41 second active event.
  3. SCP-XXX's destruction was attempted by Dr. Sanma on december 19th, 2013. SCP-XXX was moved to a new containment room which was reinforced and fitted with a failsafe that would incinerate anything in the room when activated. SCP-XXX attempted to breach its containment on december 19th when it was given a victim that had lost both arms from a prior injury. Interestingly, "The Show" was not carried out and instead the victim had its eyes immediately removed by SCP-XXX's own hands, forced down their throat before SCP-XXX tried to open the containment room's reinforced door. Dr. Sanma activated the incineration failsafe, both the suffering victim and SCP-XXX being completely destroyed by the flames. SCP-XXX re-appeared intact 37 minutes later in its original source, the open grave which has since been incorporated into the facility. Task force Zeta returned SCP-XXX to containment.

Addendum XXX.2 Breach Log:

  1. SCP dissatisfied with lack of victims. Breach duration 39 minutes. No facility damage occurred. 1 Personnel Casualty. SCP returned to containment.
  2. SCP hunted down removed victim. Breach duration 45 minutes. Moderate containment area damage. 3 personnel casualties. SCP returned to containment.
  3. SCP agitated. Reason unknown. Breach duration 1 day, 9 hours. Moderate containment area damage. 12 personnel casualties. SCP returned to containment.
  4. SCP went missing during surveillance malfunction. Breach duration 4 days, 19 hours. No facility damage. 31 personnel casualties. SCP incinerated by Task Force Zeta.
  5. SCP wept black tears for 37 hours. Escaped facility via ventilation onto the street. Breach duration 2 minutes. No facility damage. 0 casualties. SCP incinerated by Task Force Zeta before it could reach the public.
  6. SCP attempted to return to open grave location. Breach duration 21 days, 18 hours. Heavy facility damage. 89 personnel casualties. SCP ceased activity upon third assault attempt from Task Force Zeta. SCP returned to containment.

Addendum XXX.3 Dr. Kayner:
Although our research has yet to yield any definitive answers to how SCP-XXX functions or motives behind its actions, we have been able to discern some common behaviour patterns and extended observation has provided some intel that might improve containment methods in the future.
Firstly, it is important to note that SCP-XXX can be destroyed with some effort often proving particularly vulnerable to high power incendiary weapons. Every time SCP-XXX has been destroyed it always re-manifests in its original discovery source the open grave (now contained within site [REDACTED]). Its been difficult if not near impossible to stop SCP-XXX from breaching containment due to its as of yet unknown aptitude for being able to bypass almost any security door regardless of complexity, however re-containment has proven far easier with the knowledge that upon termination it will always return to the same place at the same time in its inactive state.
Likelihood of containment breach is significantly reduced when SCP-XXX is frequently provided with D-class personnel victims, although an unsettling theory has occured to myself and Dr. Sanma as of recent reviews over the breach logs. We believe that SCP-XXX is getting "bored" with its choice of victim to put it bluntly. If this is the case, containment of SCP-XXX is only going to become more difficult over time and breach numbers will increase. We are continuing to look into more creative methods of distracting SCP-XXX from its primary directive but I would highly advise O5 [REDACTED] to double if not triple task force Zeta's available resources. I regret to admit failure on my part but this…Puppet. It learns. It has been learning since we found it. I fear in the not so distant future that containment will no longer be viable at all in slowing its goals and that it will have to be neutralised on the hour, every hour.
