Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to remain installed to a dummy frame in the sub-basement of Site-19. Both SCP-XXXX (if possible) and the entrance to the room where it is installed are to be locked at all times while not in use for research or testing purposes. Access to SCP-XXXX-1 can be obtained from the site administrator for Site-19 or from Dr. S████████ by submitting a full request including a description of any instances of SCP-XXXX-2 to be removed from SCP-XXXX-1. Access to SCP-XXXX-1 has been restricted to active testing by Dr. S████████ only excepting those with explicit overseer permission following T-XXXX-7.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a slate-grey obelisk measuring approximately 2040 mm x 930 mm x 390 mm. When fitted into any standard door frame, SCP-XXXX will take on the appearance and qualities of doors within the building and area in which it has been installed, always including a single handle or knob on only one side. It will maintain this appearance until removed from the door frame and for up to two hours afterwards, at which time it will revert to its standard appearance. While installed, SCP-XXXX can be opened using the handle, and will invariably lead to an instance of a pocket dimension, designated SCP-XXXX-1. If jimmied or forced open from either side without operating the handle, SCP-XXXX simply disengages from the frame in which it is installed (see experiment log T-XXXX-12). Attempts to dismantle or alter SCP-XXXX, either while installed in a door frame or not, have failed (see experiment log T-XXXX-3 and T-XXXX-13).
SCP-XXXX-1 instances always consist of a room of indefinite dimension having concrete floors and numerous steel shelves spaced approximately 1.5 m apart from each other and typically being either 600 or 900 mm in width and 5 m in length, and up to 20 m in height. These shelves will bear materials in various media forms, including clay tablets, books, manuscripts, film, optical discs, flash memory, and more esoteric storage media, henceforth designated SCP-XXXX-2. Any instance of SCP-XXXX-2 removed from SCP-XXXX-1 will last for only a matter of hours (typically 3-6 but with recorded instances as short as 12 minutes or as long as 37 hours) before disintegrating into a fine grey powder similar to ash. Any object or materials left within SCP-XXXX-1 when SCP-XXXX is closed or disengaged from its door frame is lost, not being within SCP-XXXX-1 the next time it is accessed (obviously excluding instances of SCP-XXXX-2). Instances of SCP-XXXX-2 found within SCP-XXXX-1 can take virtually any form, including published works of literature or film, private writings or recordings, blank media, or even unique recordings that have been intentionally destroyed (see experiment log T-XXXX-7). If, when an individual opens SCP-XXXX, he bears in mind a particular category or piece of material that he would like, the instances of SCP-XXXX-2 immediately inside SCP-XXXX-1 will tend to match that category (see experiment log T-XXXX-7).
T-XXXX-7: Dr. S████████ presiding.
D-32675 is instructed to picture the bible and open SCP-XXXX. Within SCP-XXXX-1 are found numerous editions and versions of the bible including several original semitic scrolls, 36 different printings of the King James Bible, 7 modern versions of the Hebrew Torah, a complete DVD set of Veggie Tales videos, and one copy each of the Book of Mormon and the script for the Book of Mormon play.
D-32675 is instructed to think of Charles Dickens and open SCP-XXXX. Notable instances of SCP-XXXX-2 found include multiple editions of A Christmas Carol, a hand-written manuscript of Oliver Twist, and a recording of magician David Copperfield disappearing the Statue of Liberty.
A short interview between Dr. S████████ and D-32675 is filmed on an analog camera. All film from the camera is immediately removed and burned, and D-32675 is instructed to focus on the interview and open SCP-XXXX. Within SCP-XXXX-1 are found a copy of the film that was just burned, as well as usb flash disks containing security camera footage of the interview and several other interview with similar-looking participants (notably three involving Dr. S████████ and other D-class personnel).
D-32675 is instructed to concentrate on the phrase SCP-028-J and open SCP-XXXX. [REDACTED].
