Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a soundproof box approximately 5m x 5m x 5m. The soundproof agents inside should be made of a steel wool woven substance in order to dissipate any clawing at the walls or containment apparatus. A 0.5m thick cast iron shell should be placed on the outside of the box. An unconnected microphone prop should be placed in the cell at all times. Modest bedding and entertainment is provided in order to maintain a lax environment.

The entity should be monitored by video only. SCP-XXXX constantly attempts to pluck its hair like an instrument. If this action is stopped for more than 30 minutes at a time, report accordingly and notify the Site Director.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 should be disposed of through incineration at a minimum of 1500 degrees Celcius.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a humanoid entity standing 183cm (6ft) tall. Its body is made entirely of calcium carbonate, particularly that found in pearls. Texture of the surface differs in patches, ranging from corse to smooth. The neck of the specimen has been severed previously. An additional arm is placed in the center of the chest. This arm is utilized to hold the head in its natural position. White, shiny strands grow from the head and run into the organism's back. SCP-XXXX habitually runs its hands through its hair, often times appearing to play it as a stringed instrument. The sounds made, when plucked by SCP-XXXX’s fingernails, are barely noticeable and can only be heard from a distance less than 2 meters away. Test subjects have described them as "musical scores of low rumbles or magnetic whines."

After being exposed to the sounds of SCP-XXXX, subjects will demonstrate symptoms within seconds of exposure. Four phases occur.

Phase 1: Subjects begin to show symptoms of exaggerated ecstasy and leisure. Each will also note that the sounds of SCP-XXXX can still be heard. Patients show signs of drowsiness.

Phase 2: White strands grow from the teeth in the subjects’ lower jaws. Within 13 seconds of initial breach, pearl beams anchor themselves to the subjects’ upper teeth and roof of mouth. These mineral wires, deemed SCP-XXXX-1, tighten themselves and contract, pulling the mouth closed and moving past normal range of motion. This process is continued until the head is folded in on itself brain death is achieved.

Phase 3: The bodies of deceased subjects continue to carry out bodily functions without brain activity. Unnatural levels of endorphins and serotonin run through the subjects' system. The body will continue to survive without an active brain until disposed of.

Phase 4: SCP-XXXX-1 grows from subject's crushed skull and plants itself on the back in the same pattern exhibited by the strands on SCP-XXXX. Phase 4 individuals are now considered SCP-XXXX-2. Shortly after the completion of this phase, the body will play its hair in real time with SCP-XXXX’s actions. The sounds made by converted subjects have no effect on those who hear them.

Note: Traces of SCP-XXXX-1 are harmless after the victim's death and should be disposed of through means of incineration. Handle with caution. Do not maintain contact with SCP-XXXX-1 for more than 30 seconds at a time. Prolonged contact with remaining strands will result in identical symptoms and death.

Initial capture of SCP-XXXX achieved on 04/07/████
Containment of SCP-XXXX achieved on 04/13/████

Addendum XXXX-1: Initial manufacturing of SCP-XXXX’s cage produced a small hole in the floor on the sound proof section. The gap, 2.1mm in radius, was left undiscovered until staff began showing symptoms of phases 1-2. The discrepancy were repaired by personnel. █ deaths have been filed and bodies are waiting to be disposed of through prior written measures.

Addendum XXXX-2: Communication with SCP-XXXX has been carried out through means of texts and writing. The following transcripts document the interaction between the specimen and Dr. Furstun.

Interviewed: SCP-XXXX
Interviewer: Dr. Ferstun

Foreword: Communication through writing was commenced by Dr. Ferstun in order to prevent sound interaction with SCP-XXXX. The entity’s containment compartment was moved into a larger soundproof room with video-only surveillance and a stack of writing supplies. A one way speaker was wired in order to allow for easy communication by staff. Interview has been cut brief in order to maintain [Data Expunged].

Dr Ferstun: Before you there are materials for writing. Please answer questions asked to you in writing and direct them to the camera to your right. Now, what is your name and age?

SCP-XXXX: ███ █████, I do not know my age. What is the year?

Dr Ferstun: ████.

SCP-XXXX: Specimen appears to be computing age in head. That makes me ███.

Dr Ferstun: Alright ███, thank you. Now, we have seen that the noises you make kill violently. Are aware of this?

SCP-XXXX: I am aware, yes, but I do not kill.

Dr Ferstun: Please explain further.

SCP-XXXX: The sounds I make are no different than any other. I create music! It is to be listened to by any that wishes; I only wish to please the ears and soul. One transcends emotion after my pieces are composed. This "death" you speak of is a lie.

Dr Ferstun: If it is not death then what would you call this state then?

SCP-XXXX: It has no name, only a feeling.

Dr Ferstun: Please answer the question. If this state is not death then what is it?

SCP-XXXX: It is a bridge to joy, a stairway leading to bliss! It is a work of beauty! Nobody can achieve true peace while the brain nags at them behind their back. By eliminating the distractions of thought, music can be heard in its true form.

Dr Ferstun: So you believe this vegetative state is a healthy one then?

SCP-XXXX: Specimen nods at camera. A smile is noted

Dr Ferstun: That's all I needed to know for today, thank you Mr. ████.

SCP-: Much obliged. Next time i'd like to play a piece or two for you. I want to share the love.

Closing Statement: SCP-XXXX shows no signs of remorse and instead believes that the works it does benefit those who it affects. Any belief in this theory should be dismissed immediately and reported to security personnel.
