Containment Class:
esoteric
Subclass: Prodest
Containment Update: SCP-4943 has been classified as a Yesod entity and had been integrated into The Foundation's control.
SCP-XXXX's mnestic properties propose significant potential benefitial treatment of various memory disorders among staff and containment of anti-mnestic entities. Research into mass-producing SCP-XXXX-A has been conditionally approved based upon test outcomes. Authorized personnel are permitted to operate SCP-4943 biweekly in order to produce SCP-4943-A, which is to be recorded on designated audio recording and playback devices for field and therapeutic use. a special oil-based lubricant must be prepared prior to application to SCP-XXXX's inner mechanisms. Original documentation from Roseafaer suggests that the lubricant is to be blessed by a member of the Roseafaer Catholic clergy.
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4943 is contained within a sound-proofed, copper-lined safe-class containment chamber, in site-60 when not in testing or during scheduled maintence. In order to preserve SCP-4452's beneficial abilities, SCP-4943 is to receive external and internal inspection daily, and is to be maintained as necessary to preserve functionality.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an antique music box, with an avian automaton attached to the lid. During operation, SCP-XXXX produces a whistle resembling bird-song. Subjects who are able to perceive the sound emitted by SCP-XXXX will recover memories they've previously forgotten. Indivdiuals with hearing impairment are believed to still be able to aknowledge SCP-XXXX's therapeutic abilities, through the use of interpreting vibrations, although the effect is severely diminished. As of testing, SCP-4943 has been able to recreate a memory accurately regardless of a subject's diagnosis. Current research has shown that SCP-4943 has stimulated accurate memory recall in 89% of memories lost through aging, 80% of memories lost from psychiatric disorders, 75% of memories lost through neurological disorders and 70% of memories lost through amnestic SCPs. Ongoing research has shown success in memory recall by subjects affected by cognitohazardous antimemes and chemical amnestics.
SCP-4943 was likely constructed in the late 1800s by Lillian Hemingford, a clockmaker from Roseafaer, Scotland; an autonomous municipality, which has a well-reported history of producing anomalous objects and civilians. It is believed that SCP-4943 was constructed as a gift for Thea Hemingford, Lillian's wife. Thea's autopsy report showed several abnormal growths within the brain, suggesting the presence of Lewy-Body Dementia.
Addendum No. 1: Testing and Development of SCP-4943-A
Due to the significant potential benefit SCP-4943's mnestic properties could provide in containment of memory-affecting SCPs and treatment of memory disorders amomg staff, testing with the aim of mass-producing SCP-4943-A has been approved. A research project headed by Dr. Lucille Parsons has been developed for this purpose. The following preliminary tests were performed to quantify the effects of SCP-4943-A on memory deficits of different severity and cause.

**Addendum No. 1 A: Dr. Willow Amarte
Subject History: Subject was born in 1922, in London, England. Following the Second World war, subject became chief Foundation researcher focusing in esoteric classed SCPs. Subject is currently in palliative care in Foundation Medical, following advanced Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, a rare rapid-onset type of dementia characterized by an abnormal isoform of the PrP cellular glycoprotein in the central nervous system. There is currently no known cure.
Additional Materials: A small letter was discovered inside SCP-4492, written in a dialect of Middle English.
To my beloved Thea:
“I knowe ye have forgotten a lot: places, peple, all the days and evenyngs that we had byen together, the dayes too. But what sorrows me moost of al, my beloveaed Thea, is that ye have forgotten your beauautiful self and who ye are and were. So I made for ye a birdie, from the eald parts I hadn’t used yet. Turn the key, love, and it’ll syng, syng sweetly of bytter days to help remind ye. It ys the least I can doon for yow. I hope at the verray least it helps ye, and, mayhap, manie maine others.
