Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: [7 instances of SCP XXXX are currently contained at site 77 by means of placing 50 ounces of raw sika deer venison in the containment chamber in case of a containment breach. SCP XXXX will walk towards the venison without questioning. Instances of SCP XXXX are to be fed regularly.]
Description: [SCP XXXX resembles various crocodilian species, notable differences being longer limbs, tail and neck, as well as fur covering portions of its body. It was first discovered after the foundation investigated a report of a car being lifted up by an invisible force in █████ ███████ in Italy. 5 Mobile Task Force units were sent to investigate, and upon arrival found SCP XXXX. The anomaly displayed its anomalous properties when it felt threatened, as it lifted one MTF unit into the air with what seemed like telepathy. SCP XXXX was however easily tranquilized and transported to site 77. Upon closer inspection, it was not the creature that exerted these telepathic abilities, but rather an anomalous species of fungus growing on the underside of its lower jaw. The foundation researches were not completely sure whether or not the creature itself exerted anomalous properties, so further testing had to be conducted.
Shortly after, a second instance of SCP XXXX was spotted in the same area as the first one, and was placed in the same containment chamber. The two instances of the anomaly then appeared to be communicating in clicks and low-pitched growls, further study revealed that this was in fact morse code, and transcribing the message revealed that they were speaking simplified italian in morse code, and confirmed the creature to be sapient. A D-class member, who knew morse code, was instructed to try and communicate with the creature, and the creature displayed no ill will towards the D-class, however, after the conversation, the D-class reported feelings of nausea, and seemed to have a worsened sense of direction. Following the discovery of the anomalous properties of the creature itself, the creature was dubbed SCP XXXX-1, and the species of fungus SCP XXXX-2, and due to SCP XXXX-1’s sapience, it was classified as an euclid class anomaly.
After this was revealed, one instance of SCP XXXX-1 was interviewed, which revealed interesting information. It said it did not know how it ended up in █████ ███████, but could remember that it was born somewhere in Italy. It also made random comments about its life, revealing its favorite beverage was a type of medicine called “Brad’s Drink”. Seemingly irrelevant information, but this is the old name for the soda brand Pepsi, which stopped usage in 1903 as it switched to the modern name of the brand, meaning the creature is at least 117 years old by the time of writing this entry.
Strangely enough, in the period the beverage was sold under the name “Brad’s Drink”, it was not sold in italy, which raises the question of how it even knows about its existence under that name, and why it prefers an artificial beverage over natural water.
4 more instances of SCP XXXX-1 have been contained, each of which speaking different languages in morse code, and have been found in different parts of the world. It is theorized that there are far more out there, and the foundation is trying to track most of them down.
One incident at site 77 involved one of the creatures somehow escaping, even though no sign of damage to its containment chamber was found. When questioned about how it escaped, the creature had no idea how, and mentions how he “just got lost” and how he “simply ended up there”.
Further testing revealed that the creature was blind, and used smell to navigate. An instance of SCP XXXX-1 was placed in a maze where it was instructed to find meat. It could not find the mutton placed within the maze for 3 days, after which the creature was nowhere to be found. This specific instance of SCP XXXX-1 was later spotted eating sika deer venison in a house in █████, while the owner of said meat was cowering in fear. The creature was transferred back to site 77 and the man was given class B amnestics.
Further testing revealed that specifically sika deer venison was able to help the creature traverse the maze, as it was able to navigate through it without problem once the mutton was replaced with sika deer venison. It is currently unknown why it is able to smell this specific type of meat better than others.
Another incident involved a seventh instance of the anomaly which was spotted near SCP 3008-1, but before it was contained, it had already entered the building. 50 ounces of raw sika deer venison were placed at the entrance to the building, and after two weeks, the 7th known instance of SCP XXXX-1 returned. How it was able to do this is as of yet unknown.
Sika deer venison has been utilized to help the creatures return to their containment cell in cases of a security breach, and their ease of containment has resulted in them being reclassified as safe.]
