Summary

1929 the Cincinnati Subway was 7 miles long. The city was thriving. 24 hours later the stock market crashes. Unknown to the public, the crash is caused by Foundation for one reason. The immediate closer of the Cincinnati Subway.

1919 the Insurgency, secretly working for the Foundation O5 council, secretly test a new atom splitting bomb half a mile under the incomplete Cincinnati Subway in Cincinnati Ohio. The bomb fails to explode and is left behind. Three weeks after the Insurgents leave a black tar pushes its way out the bomb. Unbeknownst to the Foundation/Insurgents the sap is the same tar that created SCP-106. The tar was first discovered by the Foundation in German trenches during the Great War. The Foundation though it could cure death after a test on a Class D. The Class D sustained bullet wounds and quickly healed. The O5 wanted to test it on a civilian population so the city of Cincinnati was chosen. When the bomb failed to explode the council ordered the Insurgency to leave the bomb on the site. A week after the failed test the Foundation contained SCP-106 just hours later the Class D started showing the same anomalous affects as 106. The Class D was contained and O5 Command orders the Insurgency contain the bomb and erase all evidence of the test.

Back in 1929 a Foundation junior researcher finds a ten year old file in her desk. It contained the specifics of a Insurgency test ten years ago under Cincinnati. The researcher gives it to her head researcher who then hands it to Site Command. By the time the O5 council learns of the discovery the entire site knows of the test and the council’s involvement with the Insurgency. The council orders the detonation of the sites explosives and no one be left alive from that site. Then the council sends the Insurgency to check the bomb. When the Insurgency finds the containment cell, the bomb is leaking the tar. As they come close the bomb starts counting down 24 hours till detonation. The council is desperate to keep the bomb from detonating and creating more anomalies like 106. To evacuate the subway the O5 decides to temporarily crash the stock market. The subway is closed and the Insurgency secretly sends a bomb squad to deactivate the bomb. The bomb is deactivated and the council destroys all evidence of the event. The council then attempts to fix the stock market. In doing so the crash only worsens and Great Depression begins. The subway is canceled and converted into a Insurgency base. The tar is transported back to the Foundation and is still contained to this day.
