Special Containment Procedures: Item SCP-4XXX is to be kept confined into a cryochamber measuring 5m x 5m x 4m located at site-81. SCP-4XXX is to be administered 1 kilogram of ground beef for assimilation biweekly. Due to the cognitohazardous properties of the object, testing is to be halted. Personnel known to make impulsive decisions are forbidden to conduct work with SCP-4XXX and should remain on the other side of the hall when passing the cryochamber.
Description: SCP-4XXX is a mass of ground beef that fluctuates in weight, ranging from 10-25 kilograms. The item has settled into the back left corner of its cryochamber, hidden underneath other perishable foods. Despite itself being perishable, SCP-4XXX has shown no signs of deterioration.
On site personnel report an overwhelming urge to touch the meat. Should SCP-4XXX be directly exposed to the touch of an organism, regardless of protective clothing, affected individuals, designated SCP-4XXX-A, are to be given class-C amnestics. In the event that personnel should become designated SCP-4XXX-A the subject will begin a search for more ground beef within a 2 kilometer radius. SCP-4XXX-A will then place the newly acquired ground beef upon SCP-4XXX, which will them begin absorbing the meat.
Addendum SCP-4XXX.1: On 01/24/13, D-4332 was instructed to interact with SCP-4XXX, attempting to remove the object from it's corner. Upon contact, D-4332 violently attempted to leave site-81 in a trance, showing properties of a Cognitohazard.
When interrogated by Dr. Bernstein, D-4332 could only respond with vague phrases about assimilation until an amnestic was applied. Additional testing required.
Addendum SCP-4XXX.2: After the event of SCP-4XXX.1 testing began on what "assimilation” could have meant. After rigorous testing involving multitudes of different meats, both common and uncommon, white meat was rejected entirely whereas red meats showed initial signs of integration with SCP-4XXX before being rejected. The only meat that SCP-4XXX will accept into its mass is beef. Ground beef has proven to be accepted faster.
Any beef consumed by SCP-4XXX will eventually become indistinguishable from the same ground beef that SCP-4XXX is composed of. After assimilation, the cognitohazardous effects of the object have proven to lighten.
