Skiddly Whittler

Item #: SCP-4xxx

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4xxx is to be kept in a secure room located in site 62. The room must be sealed and accessed only through an airlock. The room must be able to withstand an exterior pressure of at least 20.3 psi or 140 kPA. Testing may be requested by personnel level 3 or higher. At this time SCP-4xxx is not to be used for the containment or destruction of other SCPs. Thaumiel classification pending further testing.

Description: SCP-4xxx was discovered in 20██ during the second excavation of the Tunguska impact site after new equipment installed at observation post ██ detected a dimensional anomaly.

SCP-4xxx is a smooth white marble ellipsoid with a perfectly circular hole on one side measuring 35cm in diameter. The ellipsoid itself would have proximate dimensions of 60x60x40cm if the hole was not present. The ellipsoid weighs 450 lbs, around the expected weight of a perfect marble ellipsoid of this size. The hole doesn't appear to have any effect on the weight of the ellipsoid.

The hole itself has a form of force barrier covering the entire opening. This barrier supplies a constant pressure to anything touching it, including air. The barrier appears to have no mass and is not solid. Attempts to measure its thickness are inconclusive thus far. The pressure exerted by this barrier is constant 29.4 PSI or nearly 100kPa exactly. At sea level, this barrier can be breached with man power alone, and testing of the other side has been carried out on a number of occasions.

The interior of the hole does not have a measurable diameter. Instead, a seemingly endless expanse exists past the barrier. This expanse is devoid of light and is a perfect vacuum. despite the lack of any matter, there exists within the void a constant force that behaves similar to gravity. This force is perfectly perpendicular to the hole and accelerates objects inward at 12.4m/s which is roughly 25% stronger than gravity experienced at earth's surface.

Test Log:

The following table contains overviews significant tests carried out on SCP-4xxx. Additional tests and more detailed accounts may be available upon request of personnel level 2 or higher.

Experiment Description Outcome
00 Field agent ██████ pushed his hand past the barrier Agent ██████'s hand reddened and swelled. The swelling and reddening were consistent with exposure to vacuum.
03 A small camera was inserted into the void No light was observed in any direction, the opening itself wasn't visible from inside
04 A small light was inserted into the void with the camera The light was observed by the camera, but nothing else was visible
07 The small light was dropped and recorded by the camera The light was only visible for 6 seconds
09 Containment room was pressurized regardless of the volume of air introduced to the room, the pressure within never exceed 100kPa
