The spinning wheel

rating: 0+x

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-xxxx sits in a 2x2m room with no windows or openings other than its door. Level 0x clearance and above are allowed access.

Description: SCP-xxxx resembles a standard spinning wheel using to make yarn from materials such as wool. Instead of an open material feeder like other spinning wheels, SCP-xxxx has a box-like attachment fitted on the side, with a 3x4cm opening on top. Light does not appear to enter this box compartment, or rather it is absorbed into the box in such a way that not light is reflected back out. On the side are two switches, with the settings 'off, on', and 'large, normal, embroidery, thread'.

SCP-xxxx has been shown to have the ability to create yarn from any kind of material .

Tests performed on SCP-xxxx conclude that materials placed inside the box will 'disappear' from sight. it has been suggested the box attachment connects to a pocket dimension, since there seems to be not limit to the volume of materials put into the box, the only requirement is that they fit the 3x4cm dimensions of the opening.

If materials are a placed in the box while the switch is off, said materials will simply disappear from sight. If materials are placed inside while the switch is on however, a yarn thread will come from out the bottom of the box after exactly 15 seconds, and catch onto the spinning wheel. The rest of the wheel will automatically begin operating when the yarn comes in contact with it, finishing on an available yarn spool.

The finished product is a uniform yarn that only remotely resembles its raw material.

Test 1 - 1kg of washed loose wool fibre was placed inside the box with switch 1 'off' and switch 2 'normal'. no reaction. Switch 1 is turned on. After 15 seconds a yarn string of average size resembling wool comes out, attaching to rest of the spinning wheel. After 2 minutes 37 seconds, yarn stops producing and wheel stops all movement. Switch 1 is turned 'off'. Another 1kg of wool is placed inside the box. Switch 1 is turned 'on'. Production of new length of yarn resumes; after 2 minutes 37 seconds yarn stops appearing and production stops. It is assumed SCP-xxxx has stopped because it has run out of material.

Test 2 - plant fibre normal and thread

test 3 - hair

test 4 - flesh
after the xxxxxxxx incident where xxxxxx lost his right index finger to SCP-xxxx, it is believed SCP-xxxx can convert most materials into yarn, including materials that are not normally yarn-able.

resulting yarn resembles a single length of muscle and tendons. Yarn still resembles flesh in texture and anatomy. After 2 days of sitting in a room at 23 degrees celsius, flesh yarn proceeded to spoil in the same manner as normal meat.

test 5 - wood
wood chips placed inside result in a single length of sinuous yarn. It has a fine texture no unlike the torn edges of paper. Durability of yarn is like fiberglass threads; very strong when pulled straight, but breaks easily when folded, creased, or knotted.

test 6 - light
a strong light shone into the box creates a yarn that resembles condensed light. however, once it makes contact with the other surfaces of the spinning wheel, it breaks apart and scatters into nothing.
