Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Containment Procedure
SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a standard containment unit. All personnel handling SCP-XXXX are to have their genome sequenced before interacting with the object. During transport for testing, personnel are to avoid direct contact with the object. In the event of contact with a biological substance, personnel are to disengage with SCP-XXXX, and wait for it to deactivate. If activation of the central bars occurs, personnel are to alert their supervisor, and immediately report to on site medical staff.

Description
SCP-XXXX is a sculpture of a DNA segment recovered from ████████, ND, outside of ████████████████ University’s Science Building. The object displays no anomalous properties when inactive. When SCP-XXXX comes into contact with living tissue, it activates by changing the colors of the sculpture to correspond with a section of the nucleotide sequence belonging to the subject’s DNA. Testing indicates that yellow corresponds to Thymine, red to Adenine, blue to Guanine, and green to Cytosine. When an individual slides his/her finger across the outer rim of the sculpture, they can adjust which section of their DNA is displayed by SCP-XXXX. When any of the nucleotides are impacted by a force of 5 N or greater, they shift their colors to that of another nucleotide. Genetic testing has shown that any change in the nucleotides of SCP-XXXX are reflected in the subject’s DNA. Testing on D class personnel have revealed that changes in nucleotides follow a semi-random pattern. When changing the nucleotide they have a 70% chance of following a certain pattern. That pattern is as follows: yellow-red, green-blue, red-yellow, blue-green. In the 30% chance that this pattern is not followed, SCP-XXXX randomly selects a nucleotide. Testing has also shown that if a test subject’s DNA has been altered to a point where the number of altered nucleotides is greater than 200; a restore default settings button appears at each end of the object, pressing this button undoes any changes made to the test subject’s DNA. A requisition to the site’s director has been sent to test SCP-XXXX with a D class personnel diagnosed with cancer.

Addendum
The Foundation was originally alerted to SCP-XXXX when Foundation agents stationed in the area were alerted to an abnormal medical case in ████████, ND. The patient, a 19-year-old male of ███████ decent was taken into Foundation custody and expired soon after. Class A amnesic was applied to area residents, and evidence was placed to indicate cause of death as suicide. Autopsy indicated that 100% of the patient’s cells had become aggressively cancerous. The medical personnel involved in the hospitalization and treatment were placed in observation, in case of the event that the anomaly was contagious. The sculpture was discovered 41 hours after patient zero was taken into Foundation custody.
