Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be secured in a medium sized foundation locker, secured with a standard lock. The only other special accommodations is that the blade of SCP-XXXX not be touching materials on both sides due to its anomalous effect. Use of SCP-XXXX for testing or repairs must be approved or done by at least Level 4 Research Clearance personnel, with oversight from higher foundation personnel onsite, to avoid abuse.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a fixed blade knife with a blade approximately 8 inches 7 inches long, (See experiment log XXXX-1A-4) and a 4.5 inch handle. The handle is fashioned of leather and a black blade, resembling a standard USMC Ka-Bar knife, straight edged variation. It’s material composition is completely normal, with blade having a being composed of 1095 carbon steel.

Its anomalous properties begin to manifest themselves when personnel try to use the knife to cut something, in which no matter how hard they try it will not cut any substance, be it organic or inorganic. However, its main anomalous effect is when two separated materials are placed next to each other and the blade is run through it. The blade begins to discolor to a neon blue, and appears to fuse, or bond the two materials back together.

The knife is noted to vibrate as personnel use it within the bonding process. Upon completion of the bonding process the knife returns to normal color and the bonded material has a dark discoloration upon the fuse point, which gradually fades over on average 15 minutes. At the fuse point, the material has the same structural integrity as the rest of the original material, if not stronger. It can even bond two materials that were not originally put together and then cut (See experiment log XXXX-1A), however with greater difficulty as it requires more strength to pull the knife back through the bonding process as its vibrations intensify.

SCP-XXXX was recovered by Agent █████ out in the field, in Iraq within the Baghdad area, in an abandoned camp on a ridge overlooking several villages, being closest to ████████. The camp is presumed to have been left by a group of marines, and judging by spent casing, who hastily abandoned camp in a gunfight. Agent █████ discovered the anomalous effect when he tried to cut some rope with the knife and, thinking it dull, put it in the accompanying sheath. Upon removal, the sheath had become a solid piece of leather, the inside having been fused together by the knife.

Document XXXX-1A: Experiment Log

(A senior researcher, who will be referred to as the operator, is instructed to drag the knife through both materials to bond)

Materials: Two pieces of paper
Result: The knife faintly glowed blue and the two pieces of paper meshed into one, with a dark mark along the fuse point, which gradually faded over a couple of minutes. The operator reported no resistance as he dragged the knife down. The paper was easily cut at the conclusion of the test.

Materials: Two halves of a log split by a laser
Result: The knife glowed much brighter than before as the operator dragged the knife up the logs to mend it. The operator reported much higher resistance and large amounts of vibration as he pulled the knife through the log to fuse it. The dark mark at the fuse point persisted for fifteen minutes afterwards. When tested for structural integrity, the log was observed to be stronger along the fuse point then the rest of the log.

Materials: D-█████’s arm which had been immediately prior sliced through, halfway down the forearm by a laser. D-█████ was strapped to a chair to restrain him, as well as strapping the remainder of his arm to the table to hold steady.
Result: The operator lined up the cut half of D-█████’s arm back to the stump and placed the knife in the groove which began to glow bright, and caused steam to emanate from the wound site. The operator indicated mild resistance and vibration as the blade worked up through the arm, with resistance being heaviest where the radius and ulna were located. Upon conclusion the arm was perfectly mended and D-█████ had ceased screaming. D-█████ was able to demonstrate full control of his arm as if it had never been separated, indicating full nerve connections and restoration. D-█████ also reported that it was a warm sensation that slowly moved with the blade up the arm, however, despite that and the steam coming from the wound during the bonding process, thermal imaging indicated no increase in temperature at the fuse point. The marking at the fuse point persisted for several days before it finally faded away. A bone density test on D-█████ concluded that the bone density had increased by 15% at the fuse point.

Materials: The blade of SCP-XXXX, which had approximately an inch cut out from the middle of the blade, would be used to bond the tip of the blade to the rest of the blade of SCP-XXXX.
Result: The operator grabbed the removed piece of SCP-XXXX and put the two pieces of the remainder of SCP-XXXX right next to each other. Upon application, the removed piece began to glow extremely bright and generated heavy vibration and resistance, to the point where the operator requested assistance by a nearby researcher. Through the combined effort of both personnel they were able to finally pull the fragment through the cut, bonding the knife back together. A functionality test with the repaired SCP-XXXX indicated that its anomalous effect remained, with the only difference being the knife was now an inch shorter. The removed chunk was taken into possession of Dr. ███████

Materials: Anomalous tissue sample from [REDACTED] and chunk of wall from its containment cell.
Result: SCP-XXXX, when placed between the anomalous tissue sample and the wall chunk, glowed an intense blue so bright that the test had to be halted and the operator and all observers were given safety goggles. Upon resuming the test the operator requested additional help as he stated that the knife was stuck and vibrated excessively. Through the assistance of three other operators the knife was able to slowly progress through the tissue sample taking approximately █ hours as well as multiple rotations of operators, with four on the knife at a time to get any progress done. At the conclusion of the test ██% of the operators who participated in the test were treated for HAVS as a result of the excessive vibrations they endured. The test was deemed successful as the anomalous tissue sample was securely bonded to the wall chunk, with the dark mark at the fuse point remaining for three weeks, and only through excessive force were the two separable. Following this an observer suggested the object be reclassified as a Thaumiel to help contain other SCPs by bonding them to their containment cell. However, this was quickly denied by the leading researcher due to the immense effort and time required to bond the SCP to the cell, and the inherent danger of being exposed to the SCP in question, as well as the possibility of the SCP merely ripping the part of tissue off their body to free themselves.
