Item#: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained in a standard humanoid containment room with furniture and appliances to the item's request. Personnel are warned of its anomalous effect, but not barred from speaking with it.
Recovery: SCP-XXXX was found under a house in [REDACTED], Germany on April 3rd, 1982 . The owner had just bought the house, and was moving a dresser out when he noticed that wallpaper was put over a hidden door. After managing to open the door, he noticed what sounded like a cry coming from inside, so he called the authorities.
The local police went inside, and returned with SCP-XXXX. The reported that he was chained to a wall, surrounded in old feces and urine. Reportedly, upon seeing the officers, it said "Finally… people. I've been calling so long…"
The Foundation was notified after that police had taken its vitals, and noticed there were none. The entity was very cooperative with the containment team that arrived, and was willingly brought to site-[DATA EXPUNGED].
Description: The anomaly is a humanoid of about 1.5 meters in height, weighing at 30 kilograms. Its anatomy is just about the same as that of a human, but none of the organs are functioning, seemingly only serving to fill space. The creature, appearance wise, resembles that of a human male, but has thin, gray skin and deep, sunken eyes.
It is very cooperative with all personnel, and actively tries to converse with them. It is encouraged to talk to him if assigned to him, because when not responded to, it gets depressed, and won't consent to testing.
Just from handling SCP-XXXX, it has been confirmed that leaving the entity from within a 3 meter radius causes a depressive feeling in those that leave it. Returning to the entity, in turn, alleviates the effect (see Addendum XXXX-1). In order to further research the extent of its effect, all personnel that speak to the entity are required to wear audio devices (see Addendum XXXX-2).
Note: After the suicide of a personnel (see Addendum XXXX-2: Audio Log XXXXXXX), those who are observed visiting SCP-XXXX often are to be separated and put on suicide watch.
Addendum XXXX-1 (Experiment Log):
Experiment 1 (directed by Dr. ███████): In order to research the range of the entity's anomolous effect, 5 personnel (each confirmed to have no past issues of depression) were placed at a variety of distances away from the entity, who was asleep in a pod. Each subject was then instructed to leave. The result was:
- Subject 1, 5 meters away, walked away with no apparent issue.
- Subject 2, 4 meters away, walked away with no apparent issue.
- Subject 3, 3 meters away, walked away with no apparent issue.
- Subject 4, 2 meters away, showed hesitation, and glanced back at the pod several minutes after leaving the range.
- Subject 5, 1 meter away, initially refused to move, only leaving after a minute of coaxing.
Before and after the experiment, each subject was interviewed. While the effects on Subjects 4 and 5 were more prominent, Subject 3 had reportedly experienced increased anxiety and depressing thoughts. Subjects 1 and 2 had no change in mental state.
5 more trials were done, with very similar results. As a result, the effective radius of the entity was confirmed to be 3 meters.
Experiment 2: In order to test a hypothesis that returning to SCP-XXXX alleviates the anomalous effect, each of the effected subjects from Experiment 1, shortly after their second questioning, were instructed to return to their original position, and underwent another psychological analysis.
Each subject interviewed returned to a normal psychological state. The experiment was therefore repeated several times for the 6 groups. It became apparent that the effect of leaving SCP-XXXX grew more severe after each time returning when each Subject 5 had to be forced away, and each Subject 4 started to behave just as each Subject 5 had during Experiment 1.
As a result of Experiment 2, further experiments involving personnel has been prohibited, and each participating subject was placed in psychological care.
Addendum XXXX-2 (Audio Logs): Due to the entirely psychological nature of the anomaly, Dr. ███████ began to require personnel to wear audio devices when entering the entity's chamber shortly after its obtainment. The following are notable conversations had with SCP-XXXX (each audio log has been given a code based on which personnel is interacting with the entity for ease of identification).
Audio Log JSPFF-1: June 17th, 1982. At 0853 hours, D-187342 enters the containment facility to speak with SCP-XXXX.
D-187342: Uhh… Hey there. I heard from a lot of the guys in the break room that you were one of… one of the nice ones.
SCP-XXXX: I'm not sure exactly how to respond to that… but I do know that I certainly do like talking to people. Many of the… folks here have been… talking to me more lately.
D-187342: Yeah, probably cause news about you has become more talked about lately. Everyone was kinda scared to talk to you at first, but then someone took the plunge, and told everyone that you were actually pretty nice!
