Item #: SCP-xxxx

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Although SCP-xxxx has been categorised as Keter, it should be noted that this is more a result of how many of its number have been approximated to exist rather than any obvious danger it appears to present. Based upon data taken from over 2000 subjects per continent, it is estimated that instances of SCP-xxxx inhabit approximately 64% of the human population.

Description: SCP-xxxx is not currently visible to the naked eye, nor have any studies confirmed it to have any physical presence. SCP-xxxx was first discovered on the 6th of February 2019 by the [DATA EXPUNGED] Medical Institute, whilst testing prototype Gamma scanning technology in conjunction with the use of [Data restricted level 2 access required]. It is unknown at this stage whether SCP-xxxx is parasitic or symbiotic in nature, though Foundation studies so far would suggest the former is more likely.

Foundation scientists have made numerous attempts to isolate SCP-xxxx, but have been unable to do so, leading to some suggestions that it may exist in human bodies in the form of some sort of living electrical current given form within the human body.

SCP-xxxx appears capable of reproduction through close proximity to other humans, though generally speaking, this seems to be a rarity given it is so widespread throughout the human population and it is suggested that most humans will have been exposed to hosts of SCP-xxxx at least once in their lifetime. Out of 2000 cases of attempted exposure of subjects hosting instances of SCP-xxxx to subjects without it, only 33 were confirmed to have become hosts within a 2 week period. These subjects were noted to have developed approximately a 12% decrease in their mood approximately 1 month after becoming hosts. A larger follow-up study is currently underway to determine whether occurrences of SCP-xxxx impact directly on mood.

Addendum: After follow-up, studies seem to indicate that though there is a strong correlation between instances of SCP-xxxx and bad mood, temperament or depression in the host, there is nothing to indicate that SCP-xxxx instances seem to be the cause. The study concluded however, that a host suffering from the above symptoms seems to present a more favourable environment for SCP-xxxx to exist within.

Approval was recently been provided for interactions between test subjects hosting SCP-xxxx with SPC-049 after a recent incident occured wherin the latter had become hostile towards a foundation scientist it had previously deemed free of 'pestilence''. Foundation scientist [Data restricted level 2 access required] had recently been seconded to research program [Data restricted level 2 access required] for the study of SCP-xxxx as senior science officer in order to asist in the establishment of the program, however was noted to have contracted an instance of SCP-xxxx after a critical incident, research no.[Data restricted level 2 access required. Though the research is still underway, early results seem to indicate there being a 36% increase in the likelihood a subject is deemed as having 'the pestilence' by SCP-049 if they happen to harbour an instance of SCP-xxxx, however, this does not always appear to be the case.
