Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures:SCP-5842 is to be kept within the confines of SCP-5842-1 (Known as the Tank) for exactly 12 hours at a time, then it is to be released to walk around it's external habitat which currently as of [REDACTED] is to be a 20 m x 20 m x 10 m chamber surrounded by 15cm steel walls decorated with forest like foliage, for the remaining 12 hours of the day. This cycle is to be repeated until event SCP- 5842-A occurs. In which the new SCP-5842 is to take up the cycle after the initial awakening. SCP- 5842-2 and 5842-1 must be kept within a 30 m radius of SCP-5842 to avoid possible containment breaches occurring. (See Addendum 5842-C).

Description:SCP- 5842 is a reptilian creature that appears to take the form of a regular Yellow-bellied terrapin or Yellow-bellied slider in terms of base physical appearance but has several biological differences. SCP- 5842 - 1 is a fish aquarium with no discernible exact size which is used to house SCP- 5842 during daily cycles. SCP-5842-1 appears to adapt in size proportionally to the size of SCP- 5842 during it's life cycle. Due to SCP- 5842's good behaviour and compliance during testing several approved toys, heating equipment as well as several internal and external environmental plants were added to the containment cell to make SCP- 5842 stay more pleasant.

SCP-5842-2 is a small blue food container that appears within a 20 m radius after SCP-5842-2 has run out of usable quantity of contents or SCP-5842 restarts it's life cycle.(See Addendum 5842-D). SCP-5842-2 contents consist of fish food like flakes which when tested are of the same biological matter of SCP-5842 itself. Despite this SCP-5842 only consumes this food as it's only means of Sustenance to grow.
SCP-5842 is to be fed 20 g of the contents SCP-5842-2 every 24 hours during the 12 hours it's within SCP-5842-1 as SCP-5842 cannot or chooses not to consume SCP-5842-2 outside of the confines of SCP-5842-1 in any known circumstance. (See Addendum 5842-B).

Addendum 5842-B:

Dr. Sarovian and Dr. ████████ are currently the only two researchers allowed within
SCP-5842's containment cell. Following incident regarding [REDACTED] that resulted in [REDACTED].
SCP-5842 grows in size and mass as it consumes the contents of SCP-5842-2, the container itself is also able to be consumed as although it appears to be made of plastic it has been tested to actually be made of SCP-5842 as well as it's contents. It is believed by Dr. Sarovian that SCP-5842-2 is actually the remains of the previous incarnation of SCP-5842 after it restarts it's life cycle process. As the recorded total weight of SCP-5842-2 that appears in the total life span of the following SCP-5842 is always the last recorded weight of the previous SCP-5842 right before the end of it's life cycle + an additional 45 g which is the weight of every starting egg shell that the next SCP-5842 hatches from which it then itself consumes.

Addendum 5842-C

On [REDACTED] during the original capture of SCP-5842 it was discovered that if SCP-5842 if ever taken outside of a 40 m range of either SCP-5842-1 or SCP-5842-2 would disappear from its previous position and reappear within a seemingly random range to them, same goes for if you try to take SCP-5842-1 away from SCP-5842-2 as all 3 will then attempt to reconvene within the 40 m range again. All 3 objects are to be kept within a 30 m range of each other to avoid potential breach of SCP-5842. Dr. Sarovian has also noted that SCP-5842 will never willingly make an attempt to leave the 40 m range of either object, despite this containment procedures are still in place in case SCP-5842 is in control of this recorded maximum range itself.

(See Addendum 5842-E).

Addendum 5842-D

SCP-5842 will eventually at a seemingly random point in time will disappear and in its place another SCP-5842 in an egg state appears within the 40 m range of SCP-5842-1. The new SCP-5842 then proceeds to consume this egg and then repeat the life process of the previous SCP-5842. Dr. Sarovian and Dr. ████████ after studying several life spans of SCP-5842 believe that it is in fact the same SCP-5842 as the one before or at least retains the previous SCP-5842's memories as it both acts the same way towards personnel it's met before as well as recognises and enjoys toys that the previous SCP-5842 played with as well as positions they were in, as shown in a test conducted using SCP-5842's favourite toy a small plastic fish labelled "Gubby".

Dr. Sarovian placed Gubby in one of 5 boxes completely opaque boxes, SCP-5842 then proceeded to check each box on it's search for Gubby, it found it on it's 3rd attempt when it check the middle 3rd box. Each day it would return to the 3rd Box to play with Gubby. When that SCP-5842 life cycle ended and the new SCP-5842 appeared it appeared to knowingly travel to the 3rd middle box again to find Gubby waiting for it. The box Gubby was kept in was changed during many following tests but SCP-5842 would always in every incarnation return the last known box it found Gubby within, as well as knew if Gubby or other toys had been replaced with an almost identical duplicate.

Addendum 5842-E:

Test Log: During several tests regarding SCP-5842, SCP-5842-1 and SCP-5842-2 ability to seemingly teleport each of the 3 would if as the only option appear inside solid matter. this occurred when SCP-5842-2 was taken into a 60 m x 60 m x 60 m filled steel cube where SCP-5842 and SCP-5842-1 both would appear within the steel cube, this causes SCP-5842 great upset but does not appear to physically harm either of them. As they will just remain within the confines until either SCP-5842-1 or SCP-5842-2 are removed and the other 2 travel to their new less confined area or SCP-5842 life cycle ends and it appears in a random position outside of the confines of the area where it was trapped in. This has lead to the belief that SCP-5842 is able to control where it appears in some regard either on it's own accord or to avoid further upset from being trapped within physical matter. Further tests regarding this will continue at later dates as to avoid containment breaches as many tests regarding it's ability to teleport have resulted in it breaching containment but normally still appearing somewhere within the foundation facility they are being stored in. So they can easily be recaptured and returned to their appropriate containment cell.
