SCP-XXXX
Containment: scp-xxxx to be stored on site-1617, a foundation submarine which patrols the pacific ocean. scp 1a, 2a, and 3a are to be perpendicularly mounted when not being tested to prevent their destructive properties activating. due to not being distinguishable without testing, Labels are to affixed identifying 1a, 2a, and 3a and are not to be tampered with at any time except by the acting site 1617 director.
description:
It is a set of 3 cylinders, hereby refereed by as scp 1a, scp 2a, and scp 3a. The cylinders are made of a heterogeneous alloy of, in descending concentrations, copper, tin, aluminum, iron, nickel, zinc and gold. The metals are poorly mixed, giving it a "marbled look" Each corresponds to a certain point in space, hereby refereed to as scp 1b, scp 2b, and scp 3b. Scp 1b is a point somewhere on the Earth's moon, scp 2b is on the sun, and scp 3b lies on earths magnetic south pole somewhere in the mantle. The anomalous property of scp-XXXX-a instances is that the cylinders produce a constant vibration, whose frequency is inversely proportional to the distance to their respective b instance. The amplitude seems to vary based on the angle the axis of the cylinder to their respective location in space.
The more destructive aspect comes into play under event scp-xxxx-D when 2 or more of the cylinders are aligned to be parallel to within a few degrees and both facing their respective points to withing a few degrees, a feedback loop of further amplification of their vibrations is created, regardless of the distance between said cylinders, the lower these degrees imperfections, the stronger the resulting vibrations end up. Testing with all 3 at once is not to be performed under any circumstance following incident scp-xxxx-D11.
In addition, the metals seems to flow in the cylinder, normally too slow to be observed, but much faster when xxxx-D is active. The cylinders, when flowing will attempt to return to a cylindrical shape if they had been damaged, and are capable of sharing matter between them to ensure all 3 have the same mass and ratio of metal composition. Pieces of scp-xxxx may fall off during its more intense vibration periods. These pieces are non-anomalous. pieces of metal made of any of the components of scp-xxxx's alloy touching it will slowly be assimilated into it. Because of this, scp-xxxx is only to be in contact with non-metallic surfaces, metal surfaces made of metals not matching scp-xxxx alloy, or painted or coated with at least 4mm of any non-metallic substance. Scp-xxxx will not interact on contact with any substance not matching its composition, unless it is embedded into it, when the foreign object is at risk of being ejected with potentially dangerous force, as noted when a titanium screw was ejected at near the speed of sound and caused damage to the containment chamber,
Another property observed is that a secondary radiation is produced which seems to be capable of interfering with life. It can be measured directly by specialized sensors originally developed by the foundation for other scps. Humans have been observed to be immune or extremely resistant to these effects under all tested circumstances, with the only observed effect in humans is that personnel spending more than ~60 hours in a week span near scp-xxxx sometimes seem to experience parts of their inner ear anomalously vibrating at a frequency similar to the ones they had been subject to, around 1 day after leaving the containment zone. This vibration never lasts more than 4 hours, and although annoying, is not dangerous. Because of this and other potential risks, no personal are to be stationed at site 1617 for more than 48 hours in an 2-week span, no pregnant or breastfeeding humans are to be stationed at site 1617, and both male and female personnel are discouraged from attempting conception within a month after visiting site 1617.
The effects seem to only have a substantial effect towards vertebrate species whose average adult mass is roughly 200 kg or more. The radiation seems to only affect a seemingly completely random portion of organisms. Baring event xxxx-D, the effects seem to be the same, with the amplitude of the primary vibrations only corresponding to an up to x2 increase in the percent affected by the radiation.
The effects of the radiation vary from species to species and between individuals, and seem to include, but not limited to: increased fertility and libido, increased aggression, decreased resting periods, increased appetite and metabolism, increased risk of both benign and malignant tumor growths, and increased mutations and lower weight in offspring, as well as larger quantities.
The radiation can travel through and medium or lack thereof, although different mediums have been observed to dampen it, limiting its range.
The list of mediums are presented here in decreasing max range
