(Okay so this is my first attempt at writing an SCP article. Ive read the guides and all the other stuff for newbies so hopefully i can excersize what I've learned. This idea has been in my head for a while and I just recently got the drive to materialize it.)

Object Class: Safe
Appearing as a thick and black leather bound Latin dictionary with yellowed pages and golden lettering on its front cover, (SCP whatever whatever or just a name I don't have yet idk) was found in the sands of Omaha Beach, 15 days after Allied Troops set foot there to push back the Nazi line. Discovered by [DATA EXPUNGED], (SCP whatever, I'll be calling it "XX" as a placeholder from this point forward) apparently gave [DATA EXPUNGED] a sudden urge to open it's pages, according to witnesses. Immediately, she had burst into flames, quickly reduced to ash. When witnesses went to inspect the book, the word "Incineratio," Latin for "incineration," had been crossed out in a thin line with blue ink.
If any living tissue of a sentient being comes into contact with "XX," an uncontrollable desire to open it's pages to a random word fills the victim. Testing has been coordinated, supervised by Prof. Tamaho, in which a Class D had been forced to come into contact with "XX" but was restrained before he could open it's pages.
The Class D showed signs of extreme paranoia, refused to eat and drink, clawed his cell walls until his nails peeled back, and slowly went from screaming and demanding the book, to sobbing in the corner for days on end.
Prof. Tamaho, after 5 days of keeping the Class D in confinement, let him come in contact with "XX" again. The Class D laughed hysterically as he opened the book to a random page and slammed his finger down on the word "Surdi," Latin for "Deaf." Afterwards, a thin line of blue ink crossed it out.
The Class D apparently lost all hearing within seconds. When he tried to open the book again, presumably to pick a different word, it would not open.
Prof. Tamaho has concluded that "XX" may only "assign" one word per sentient being before having the word crossed out and the book not being able to open again for said being.
It has been noted that roughly (idk how to blackbox cause I'm stupid, but it's a double digit number) words have been crossed out, indicating (same blackbox amount) victims have been "assigned" a word. A list of words that have been crossed out is available to scientists under the authority of Prof. Tamaho who request it.
"XX" is currently being held at [REDACTED], inside of a glass display within a 10 foot by 10 foot concrete room. A door with an electrical lock is it's only entrance.
Periodically, new employees and scientists authorized personally by Prof. Tamaho may enter "XX's" chamber to practice handling techniques and tool usage required. "XX" is regularly opened with gloves, metal tongs and simple machinery by amateur scientists.
