Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be fenced off by a 12-meter high concrete wall in a 5x5 meters squared enclosure. Any unauthorized personnel entering the area will be detained and administered Class-C amnestics due to the risk of a potential information leak. A team of four researchers are to monitor the tree every May 18th, taking samples of the blood.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an approximately 8.4-meter high Scarlett oak tree (Quercus coccinea) located in ██████, Indiana. The tree is covered in thousands of leaves, more than the usual amount for this species of tree. Once a year on May, 18th. The tree will "weep" large amounts of a thick, odorous blood from each one of its leaves. The blood is consistent with typical human blood composition. DNA tests show that the blood excreted from the leaves match records of deceased former Foundation D-class personnel. Upon approaching the tree, subjects express feelings of intense guilt and sorrow, even if they are not a part of the Foundation itself.

Addendum: The first instance of the tree "weeping" blood was discovered on 18/05/80 by ████████ █████, a local resident of ██████, Indiana. ████████ █████ found the tree whilst hiking and reported it to the local authorities. When the Foundation caught wind of this, class-C amnestics were administered to everyone involved due to the risk of public interference leading to damages.

Incident c-02838: On 10/6/13 a containment breach took place at Site-██ resulting in the deaths of ██ researchers and ██ D-class personnel. At the time the containment breach occurred, the leaves on the tree started rapidly excreting a thicker, black blood-like substance until the containment room was at full capacity. After the breach was contained, the substance dissipated and the tree returned to its normal state. This event is believed to have been connected to the containment breach.
