Item #: SCP-4822
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4822 is to be kept in a locked research cell with at least one armed guard present at all times. Researchers entering SCP-4822's cell must be at least level 2 security clearance, and be accompanied with an extra armed guard. All items created by during testing must be recorded in a log and submitted to SCP-4822's test database. Even though SCP-4822 has never been recorded as producing an inedible meal, all food produced by it must be reviewed by Site Health and Safety before consumption.
Description: SCP-4822 is a large sarcophagus covered in an outer layer of solid 18 karat gold and measuring 2.1 meters in length. SCP-4822 was discovered in archaeological dig at ██████ on April 17th, 2005. Foundation personnel were dispatched to recover the object when it was reported that archaeologists on the project had made cakes out of sand and tried to feed them to each-other.
Testing of the object reveals that it contains 2 extra interior layers of thick clay, as well as an Egyptian mummy carbon dated to around 3,000 years old. The mummy is found to have no anomalous properties, and removal of the inner layers confirms that that the golden shell is the source of SCP-4822's effects.
Whenever within 10 meters of SCP-4822, people will have the compulsion to cook continuously, starting on another meal every time the last one is finished. It is unknown how these meals are made, as those affected by SCP-4822 have shown to be able to create food without the use of any common cooking utensils or ingredients. When in proximity of SCP-4822 for an extended period of time, affected persons will become increasingly aggressive and violent, eventually attacking anything in sight after a few hours of exposure. When leaving SCP-4822's circle of influence, it's affects will slowly dissipate, completely disappearing after 4 hours.
Addendum: SCP-4822 Test Database
Test 1 [4/22]: D-6452 was placed in SCP-4822's cell with a pile of sand. D-6452 was then observed to create multiple small patties of sand until the pile ran out, in while he began to search around the cell for something, becoming increasingly agitated until the test was ended. Personnel involved in the test refused to eat the sand patties, but described them as smelling surprisingly good. Interestingly, refused to eat the patties even under threat of punishment.
Test 2 [5/4]: D-2864 was placed in SCP-4822's cell with a table holding a box of █████████ brand fettuccine, two fresh tomatoes, a variety of spices, and a basil plant. She was also supplied with a small kitchen placed in the cell. D-2864 quickly created multiple plates of fettuccine with tomato sauce, before running out of ingredients. D-2864 then began to start breaking kitchen utensils, and the test was cut short at the request of Dr. ████, who had volunteered his cooking supplies to be used in testing. The meals created by D-2864 were found to be of exceptional quality after testing, despite D-2864's insistence of her lack of experience in cooking.
Test 3 [5/7]: D-2864 again placed in the cell with SCP-4822 with the same ingredients as Test 2, but without the provided kitchen station. D-2864 started making fettuccine with tomato sauce again, but was observed to somehow fashion the ingredients into their cooked forms despite not having any materials to do so. When nearly completely, D-2864 expertly broke down the table and fashioned the wood into multiple plates using just her hands and the walls of the cell. After finishing, D-2864 was observed to act similarly to D-6452 in Test 1, searching the room in the angry fashion until the test was ended. After Health and Safety testing, the meals created in Test 3 were found to be of just as high quality of those from Test 2, despite a lack of proper supplies. During an interview, D-2864 was unable to remember how she made the food, stating "I just could."
Test 4 [5/10]: D-4100, a D-class who was a high-profile professional chef before his time with the foundation, was placed in the cell with SCP-4822 and the same conditions as Test 3. He was observed to go through the same steps as D-6452 did, producing exceptional quality meals and testifying with no knowledge of doing so. It should be noted that D-4100 has shown signs of depression and disinterest in cooking since this test.
