Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a single room containment cell with an isolated hallway in cell block X of site-XX. SCP-XXXX's containment cell must only be accessible through two lockable doors as well as a standard iron cell door. At least one door is to be locked at all times that there is not an active instance of SCP-XXXX-1. The containment cell is to be furnished with a bed, couch, table, chair, television, at least one set of cutlery and a plate or bowl, and access to a restroom, simple facsimiles of these are to be used where appropriate. The cell's hallway must have outside access through a permanently locked door and contain two seats and a table.

Its cell is to be equipped with hidden cameras allowing full view of the cell and hallway. SCP-XXXX cannot be allowed to know that it is being observed.

If SCP-XXXX becomes aware that it is being observed it's cell is to be completely locked including it's iron cell door. The first available D-class personnel should then be directed to SCP-XXXX as well as a small spool of thread or other textile if necessary.

In the case that SCP-XXXX is in possession SCP-XXXX-2 it is to be allowed to roam cell block X until it returns to it's cell and sheds SCP-XXXX-2

Description:SCP-XXXX was recovered on ██/██/20██ in ███████,███████,USA after a string of missing persons cases associated with unusual police calls mentioning "string" and "unraveling" frequently. SCP-XXXX was found by MTF Pi-1 in a small apartment after a landlord was reported missing with a similar call after saying he was going to collect overdue rent. SCP-XXXX was found among several hundred pounds of loose string sitting infront of an inactive television obscured by several piles of string. And was only recovered after one agent was entirely unraveled.

SCP-XXXX Appears as a stylized human that is a consistent matte white color. SCP-XXXX lacks any defined features except limbs digits and a face composed of just a mouth and eyes rendered in thick black lines. SCP-XXXX has exaggerated extremities and a spherical head that is not connected to the body and floats approximately 15 cm above the top of the torso. SCP-XXXX appears to be comprised of hard material similar to ceramic in appearance. No damage to SCP-XXXX has ever been recorded.

SCP-XXXX does not display any signs of an internal consciousness or thought processes only performing simple actions in reaction to surrounding conditions. SPC-XXXX attempts to mimic human behavior following a simple routine if prevented from following it's routine SCP-XXXX will become distressed and attempt to exit it's cell. SCP-XXXX's routine is detailed in addendum XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX will attempt to wander during during certain times of its routine but will not try to get past any locked doors it cannot easily unlock.

If SCP-XXXX becomes aware that it is being observed it will begin seek out an animal or person usually whoever saw it as they are the most obviously available. If it runs into an obstruction it cannot find it's way around SCP-XXXX will become increasingly agitated and attempt to destroy the obstacle. Permanently containing SCP-XXXX in an agitated state has proved impractical and possibly dangerous. Once SCP-XXXX comes into contact an animal it will grab just above the animal's skin with it's thumb and forefinger and then pull on a string now grasped between its fingers and attached to the animal, how and when this string manifests and gets attached to the animal is unclear. The thread will cleanly pull away revealing repeated wrappings of string underneath. The animal now classified SCP-XXXX-1 will react with pain appropriate to a strip of flesh being pulled off it. SCP-XXXX-1 will continue to show signs of life until the area where either the heart or brain would be. As SCP-XXXX unspools the thread it wraps it around itself pressing it into place and forming a detailed and properly proportioned human body with dimensions smaller than its normal form, this body will be referred to as SCP-XXXX-2. About the amount of thread gained from a human is needed for SCP-XXXX to form SCP-XXXX-2.

SCP-XXXX-2 looks like a 170.15cm caucasian male of average build with shortly cut hair wearing clothes that vary between formations but generally fit the description of business casual. SCP-XXXX-2 acts much more naturally than SCP-XXXX even being able to carry on basic conversation and will attempt to wander much more frequently and does more complex tasks, however it is still fooled by even basic facsimiles of items and will stick largely to the same routine. SCP-XXXX-2 accrues wear and tear that matches with that of tightly wound string despite being qualitatively identical to a human body. If SCP-XXXX-2 is cut it will reveal regular white string underneath and SCP-XXXX-2 will react with appropriate signs of pain. If SCP-XXXX-2 accrues a large amount of wear and tear SCP-XXXX-2 will unwrap itself leaving a pile of non-anomalous string appropriate to the volume of string that would be required for SCP-XXXX-2. The string is appropriately colored to how it appears as it is unwrapped. SCP-XXXX seems unaware of the pile of string left behind.

If prevented from following its routine SCP-XXXX will mimic distress, if prevented from performing its routine for a period of more than 3 days it will enter an agitated state attempting to destroy any obstacles to its routine or procure any items required through force if necessary. If SCP-XXXX becomes aware that it is being observed it will begin seek out the nearest animal (including humans). SCP-XXXX-1 appears to be a 170.5cm tall english speaking caucasian of average build and indeterminate gender with shortly cut hair. SCP-XXXX-1 instances always wear clothes that fit the general description of business casual. SCP-XXXX-1 shows behavior, emotion and stimulus response largely consistent with an average human. It can carry out complex conversation and displays a full range of human emotion. SCP-XXXX-1 instances have been known to form emotional bonds with other humanoids. SCP-XXXX-1 does not seem able to recall anything before the formation of the present instance, if attention is called to this it will show mild confusion before attempting to change the subject. SCP-XXXX cannot tell the difference between objects and even simple facsimilies of the object, in addition to this it does not eat sleep or drink again when questioned on this it will display mild confusion before attempting to change the topic. It also seems completely unaware of string left over from the creation of previous instances and will not even acknowledge questions regarding this. It poses no serious threat and as such should be granted the privileges of a standard humanoid with constant monitoring of it's cell.

If SCP-XXXX-1's skin is broken repeated wrappings of white string are revealed underneath and the edges of the skin will fray like fabric. In this eventuality it will cover the wound and attempt to return to its living quarters showing all appropriate signs of pain but refusing any offers of treatment. Once it reaches its living quarters it will wait until it sees no signs of observations and then it will unravel leaving behind a pile of string and SCP-XXXX which will return to its normal routine.

Document XXXX-02: Routine of SCP-XXXX.

8:00am: Scp-XXXX will get out of bed it then locates the nearest eating utensil and bowl and sit down at the first available table. It will then proceed to mime eating for exactly 5 minutes.

8:05am: SCP-XXXX will return eating utensils to the location they were procured it will then find a drawer of a dresser if available if not it will simply find the first available drawer or cupboard. It will then open it and stand in front of it for 10 minutes before closing it.

8:15am: SCP-XXXX will leave its residence and will walk aimlessly for 45 minutes occasionally going through unlocked doors, it will not re-enter its residence during this time.

9:00am: SCP-XXXX will find a nearby seat and sit down for the next 3 hours.

12:00pm: SCP-XXXX will locate the nearest table with a seat then sit down and mime eating for half an hour.

12:30pm: SCP-XXXX will return to the seat it was previously in and sit there for the next 4 and a half hours.

5:00pm: SCP-XXXX will get up and retrace its steps as closely as possible back to its residence always taking exactly 45 minutes to do so.

5:45pm: SCP-XXXX will enter its residence and move to a couch facing a television and sit there looking in the direction of the television for the next 6 and a quarter hours. It will not exit its residence until 8:15am the next day.

12:am: SCP-XXXX will lie down in the nearest bed within its residence and stay there for the next 8 hours.

Addendum XXXX-1a: Notes on Routine of SCP-XXXX.

SCP-XXXX will not carry out its routine if it does not perceive access to amenities such as a bathroom and running water even though it does not use these. If these are not available within its residence it will act as if its routine has been interrupted.

Dr. S. Frost: Hello XXXX. You've been cooperating well so I guess I should ask if there's anything you'd prefer me to call you.

SCP-XXXX: Well yeah those numbers aren't my name! [Silence followed by an awkward chuckle]

Dr. S. Frost: I am asking, for your name.

SCP-XXXX: Oh! It's… [SCP-XXXX Pauses for a few seconds] Patrick Jones.

Dr. S. Frost: Did you just make that up?

SCP-XXXX: Fairly sure my parents made up my name!

Dr. S. Frost: Okayy, [Brief scratching from a pencil on paper] So, Patrick, Are you aware why you're here?

SCP-XXXX: I was told you wanted to interview me? about some kind of incident?

Dr. S. Frost: That is technically correct however I meant more generally in the foundation.

SCP-XXXX: Well I guess I live here now.

Dr. S. Frost: And that's not alarming to you at all?

SCP-XXXX: I mean I have a roof over my head and food and water.

Dr. S. Frost: Speaking of that. I've been told you haven't consumed any form of sustenance since arriving at the foundation.

SCP-XXXX: I haven't? Well I'm sure I must have. Anyway I'd like to know about the incident you called me in for.

Dr. S. Frost: Well actually you haven't. We have the security tapes to prove it.

SCP-XXXX: You have security tapes watching me? creepy.

Dr. S. Frost: This is going nowhere. [More scratching of pencil on paper] Do you know what incident we are interviewing you for?

SCP-XXXX: No..?

Dr. S. Frost Ok. You are dismissed.

Preamble: Dr. S. Frost Assisted SCP-XXXX-1 back to containment after an apparent injury being the only person on site who had both seen the initial capture log and was willing to come in contact with SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX shed SCP-XXXX-1 shortly after Dr. S. Frost left its room leading her to return after a report of confusion from video surveillance staff.

Transcript of audio logs and relevant information from video logs:

<Begin Log 2014-06-08 7:26pm>

[Dr. S. Frost enters SCP-XXXX-1's cell escorting SCP-XXXX-1 which is limping. Dr. S Frost. leaves the cell almost immediately. shortly after the skin and hair of SCP-XXXX-1 near its scalp loosen and seperate into a length of string wrapped repeated around it. The string starts slowly falling away revealing more coils underneath and accelerating as it unravels.]

Surveillance Team comms: Paging Doctor Frost, Something uhh strange is going on in the cell you just left.

Dr. S. Frost: Okay I'm checking it out.

Surveillance Team comms: no DON'T GO BACK IN GOD uuuuuuhg somebody get out the incident report paperwork, and get security on hold while you're at it.

[Dr. S. Frost re-enters the cell. The rate of SCP-XXXX-1's unraveling has increased and the top of SCP-XXXX's head has been revealed]

Dr. S. Frost: OH FUCK!… Wait its not responding to me.

Security Team comms: Doctor Frost it would be best if you were to leave XXXX's cell.

[Dr. S. Frost waves her hand in front of SCP-XXXX's head. SCP-XXXX-1 has unraveled to near its neck]

Dr. S. Frost over comms: Look its completely unresponsive while its doing,,, whatever this is.

[Video Log shows Dr. S. Frost taking out a note pad and scribbling down notes on it. Occasionally she picks up piles of the discard string and inspects it.]

Security Team comms: Ok we're going to come get you and if anybody asks why we forcefully removed you we'll say it was a cognitohazard.

Dr. S. Frost over comms: Oh you're SO kind.

Security Team Comms: Who let you have level 3 access.

[The legs of SCP-XXXX-1 slough off leaving a large pile of string while Dr. S. Frost is engrossed writing notes. SCP-XXXX proceeds to a chair infront of the television and sits down]

Dr. S. Frost: Wait is this string 1-Alpha? Oh and XXXX is gone that's my cue to leave.

[Dr. S. Frost carefully stands up and makes her way to the door of the cell. As she nears the exit she looks back towards SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX gets up and turns towards Dr. S. Frost it then charges her holding her in place and carefully pulling what appears to be a strand of string from her leg.]

Dr. S. Frost: [Screaming]

[A squad of 6 security officers arrive at SCP-XXXX's cell]

Security officer 23: Oh CHRIST that, that's something alright. Is that string under your leg?

Dr. S. Frost: [Continues Screaming]

Security officer 23: Ok yeah yeah never mind not the issue right now. 15 and and 12 go lock down the area 41 get a tactical response team, 24 and 32 wait there by the door it only seems to be attacking the doctor, I'll see what I can do.

Security officer 15: Let's go 12.

[Two security officers depart the cell and security officer 23 approaches SCP-XXXX with a gun drawn. SCP-XXXX show's no reaction to the officer approaching it as it methodically unwraps string pressing it into place on its own leg.]

Dr. S. Frost: [heavy breathing through gritted teeth] Kn- KniiaaHH AHH [Resumes Screaming]

Security officer 23: Oh ohhh is that string part of you still? whatever.

[Security officer 23 attempts to cut the string connected to Dr. S. Frost with a combat knife, SCP-XXXX grabs the knife and bends security officer 23's arm away twisting it breaking security officer 15's index and ring fingers causing him to drop the knife. Dr. S. Frost retrieves the knife and cuts the string without interference from SCP-XXXX. Dr. S. Frost shows increased signs of distressed at the moment the string is cut. SCP-XXXX continues pressing what string it has already unraveled into its own leg.

Dr. S. Frost: Ah fuck. Help me up.

Security officer 23: Ok [grunts of effort] Let's go. And don't go near the skips again.

Dr. S. Frost: But I got so much information,,,

[Dr. S. Frost passes out presumably from pain and is dragged the rest of the way out of the locked down area. A tactical response team arrives shortly after and restrains SCP-XXXX with steel cabling]

Results: SCP-XXXX repeatedly broke containment over the course of 75 hours until a D-class personnel was requisitioned for testing allowing it to form another Instance of SCP-XXXX-1 [Test Log XXXX-01]
Dr. S. Frost was immediately put into quarantine and assigned class E for the length of quarantine.
SCP-XXXX was given a Euclid classification.

Test 01 - 2014-06-11 10:45pm

Subject: D-53581

Procedure: D-53581 is instructed to enter SCP-XXXX's provisional containment cell and SCP-XXXX is to be allowed out of restraints.

Results: D-53581 was quickly overpowered and was unraveled by SCP-XXXX over the course of 5 minutes. During that time D-53581 attempted to break the string several times but reacted in pain and was unable to each time. D-53581 continued showing life signs until their head was unraveled past a depth of 1cm. Once D-53581 was completely unraveled it took SCP-XXXX a further 30 minutes to form a new instance of SCP-XXXX-1 this instance was granted a small humanoid containment cell at Site-XX after several days of crying from SCP-XXXX-1.

Analysis: Creatures being unraveled have been designated SCP-XXXX-2 due to the anomalous nature of the wounds.
String that has just been separated from flesh and has not yet been melded into part of SCP-XXXX-1 seem to give responses to stimuli as if it were still flesh.
It seems that SCP-XXXX-1 poses insignificant threat and SCP-XXXX should be kept from shedding it as long as possible. However feeding SCP-XXXX D-class personnel to form SCP-XXXX-1 instances is not a solution, further observation of SCP-XXXX is recommended.

Test Log XXXX-2-02

Test 2-02 - 2014-06-22 2:00pm

Subject: SCP-XXXX-2 Dr. S. Frost

Procedure: Medical examination of the wound left by SCP-XXXX.

Results: The wound is about 9cm wide and 4cm deep. The entirety of the area where there should be exposed flesh is instead composed of repeated winding's of cotton string. An isolated sample of the cotton string shows no anomalous properties. There is no feeling in the wound except for a small strand of thread that has been directly separated from the surrounding skin. Probing of the wound indicated that SCP-XXXX-2 Dr. S. Frost's entire body is made of similar winding's of cotton string. Probing through a small incision made beside the wound revealed no string and furthermore no wound; This is consistent with vital sign readings that show no obstruction of blood flow in the area of the wound. SCP-XXXX-2 Dr. S. Frost requested that the SCP-XXXX-2 be removed from her title.

Analysis: It seems that SCP-XXXX does not directly convert flesh into string possibly retrieving the string from somewhere else via the flesh of animals or spontaneously generating the string as it is revealed. Dr. S. Frost has been ejected from quarantine and her Class B status has been returned, her request to remove SCP-XXXX-2 from her title on official records has been granted as well. Dr. S. Frost is also no longer allowed free access to medical equipment as shortly after she used suturing equipment to sew lace across her wound on the logic that "it's all string already."

Procedure: SCP-XXXX is to be allowed to roam a blocked off section of site-XX for observation for a period of 2 weeks. It is not allowed to come into contact with any employees of any class during this time and is not to allowed to know it is being observed.

Results: SCP-XXXX Follows a very simple and predictable routine detailed in Addendum XXXX-1

Analysis: SCP-XXXX follows this routine to the letter making loopholes easy and useful to exploit. Its containment procedures should be modified to take advantage of this. If successful it may be reclassified to safe.
