when i originally posted this idea it was even longer and very unclear and as per the replys i have rewritten it to be clearer.

for the scp reality it is a lovecraftian conceptual level deity but to the readers it is a mere lack of focus written out on a website.
the idea is a manifestation of the concept of cognitive diversion, with a few layers of meta narrative.

it is a branch of chaos and it is one of the pillars of the scp-universes weird existance.

+ how and why?

it helps uphold the universe that is not strictly "built" in a logical way and more pieced together by differant people creating parts of it regardless of eachother.the entity capitalizes on the idea that every article by itself should be entertaining enough to let the readers forgive its inconsistancies and divert their attention from that (and anything else they are putting off) to the story in that article.
this is how the entity helps chaos ensue - buy letting the scp-reality stay as is.
sometimes the inconsistency in the lack of canon itself is the diversion the entity is living as.
i want to link it to S Andrew Swann's proposal to explain why this concept works.

the entity i want to write about has a few differant layers of activity with which it causes any kind of distraction and loss of focus.

1. psychological manipulation in universe - it uses a powerful cognitohazard to force anybody cognisant of itself into procastination and neglegance in handeling the information about it. meaning any person who saw it or is supposed to compile it's document and reports in universe will be extremely uncharacteristicly distracted by anything and everything else, leading to a lot of delays in the process of documentation.
2. the prior effect bleeds into the rest of all other things in existance and this effect has been in place since it's creation.
3. frontal "hiding in plane sight" the entity uses everything and anything in existance to distract sentiant lifeforms from whatever they are viewing at any point - including its own image and metaphysical embodiment. meaning it posts pictures of itself on instagram and plenty other sites just to add one more picture to the feed of distraction.
4. it is the very concept of diversion of attention and has controll over reality to an extent that lets it use physical things to distract people, such as causing discomfort, itching, minor allucinations such as noizes and shadows, minor control of probabilty to create coincidences solely for the purpose of the diversion involved, and since it lives within the scp universe it also effects the wiki itself.
5. being an article in a recreational entertainment site it is a diversion from "real life" outide of the internet and i would like to add messages that pop on the screen sent by the entuty in an effort to distract the reader using averything from messages such as "look behind you" to "how would you like to read about this differant scp?" all the way to "did you remember to call a friend today and just talk?".(needless to say this entity has no sense of style in its craft and oporates in the entire possible spectrum of diversion)
6. this can be thriwn out but i think it would be cool to allude to the idea that it is partially responsible for every struggle in reality including the fight between the broken god and the flesh goddess and the fight between the foundation and the anomolous.

the word diversion leads to the assunption that there is something important that this entity doesen't want people to directly know about, but that assumption is also a distraction from the fact that the entity doesen't really have anything to hide, when the foundation is trying to figure out its goal they realise this and that the wwhole idea of a goal in the first place is just a distraction to keep leading them on in an endless spiral or cycle of irrelevant possibilities.
i would like this to be a plot point of some kind: the realisation by someone in a log that it is playing on a whole other level and that they are only experiencing effects it considers "minor".

since the entity is crucial to the status quo of existance it may be an esoteric class with a secondary class being "ein sof¹"

origin- its origin is a decision of a writer and (hopefully) the decision of the mods's and readers to let it exist.

as i stated earlier, thanks to its main cognitohazardous effect (not antimemetic - as it wants its existance and knawladge of it to also be a distraction) it took the foundation an abnormally long time to actually get to documenting and deciding on its containment procedures, though data on it's online activity has been automatically documented by foundation bots, the poeple in charge of reviewing their findings were subject to its effect and therefore they couldent properly work on it.
this went on for a whie until it was finally noticed by a new administrative bot that alerted a person with an extremely haigh cognitohazard resistance score and sufficiant clearance (a site commander) and it still took them a very long while to stop fidgiting and remembering other tasks before they actually assesed the situation and personally alerted the 0-5 Council.
the information gathered by the bots shows that the entity is practically oozing one of the strongest cognitohzards ever logged and its effect is simple redirection of attention.
a significant portion of the document should i my opinion - consist of 0-5 Council meeting logs concerning the entity and attempts at communication with it.
the 0-5 Council is filled with mostly people with sufficiant cognitohazard resistance scores but if one or two are not then they will be subject to attempts at extreme and borderline violent changes of topic starting from "can you smell that" up to storming off after starting a phisical fight due to confusion and frustration. after a meeting log or two the article has two diffferant narative directions i think it can go in:

1. the entity succedes and all that is left is maybe one log in which the whole meeting is tangenctionall and at the end a motion to litterally ignore it is passed only to be affirmed by one last addendum realising that it is better this way as the entyty is crucial to reality anyway.
2. the 0-5 Council goes as meta as it possibly can so far as to contact the administrator (which this document proposes is a communication method with the top most site moderators only to be used in extreme situations) and bargain for the entity's deletion. in this case it is made clear that the docuent is being deleted the moment the reader exits the page and they can see that its pending deletion regardless of its rating (this means this is hinted at from the start of the article) but it is never actually deleted (unless of course the rating is low enough as to really issue a deletion).
3. i would love to hear any ideas for more options or alterations to these two.

when i imagin it the entity's "embodiment" and visage that it uses is every mosquito that buzzez in your ear at night but doesen't bite and the body it uses in the internet is my current profile picture which i am planning to redraw photorealisticly and turn into a gif with a lot of audio interference
