SCP-7001
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Do everything not to provoke the creature as studies are still being performed. The SCP is to be kept in the glass room designed by Dr. ████ ████████ and is described in detail later in the document. There are to be two armed soldiers patrolling SCP-5001's case because of its recent signs of mind-altering abilities and failed escape attempts recorded in addendum 1.
Description: Also known as "The Void," SCP-7001 is an enlarged cellular being, with a thin black, bile substance that surrounds a dark red nucleus. Occasionally even when not in use, 7001 will turn its "bile" into makeshift appendages or tentacles to draw attention to itself.
The first field researcher who discovered the SCP was the current head researcher ████, (after capture, he was promoted to head researcher on the SCP) who found this creature during a mass missing person case. While searching for almost 20 missing people in the small town of ███████, Mississippi, he stumbled upon a cavern not too far from the town hiking trail. He entered into a small cavern with all 20 bodies found inside along with the corpses of squirrels and other small fauna. He also discovered the SCP covering the face of a young girl, the thick grey liquid comprising the girl's face and flowing into her body. Dr. ████ ripped the SCP off of the girl's face with his protective gloves, and as the nucleus detached from the tentacles, the young girl's body started rejecting the SCP's bile as she started vomiting. Then Dr. ████ forced the SCP into a glass containment cube. The young girl is being closely monitored, her health is on the rise, and she doesn't show any significant side effects other than her near-death experience while being attacked. She was extremely reluctant to say anything about her experiences other than the fact that she said she felt nothing.
More recently, however, SCP-7001 was discovered to have bodily nerve canceling abilities. While being studied, it attacked a young researcher, and the poor man seemed to go limp. When asked about his experiences, he said, "I felt it enter me from the nostrils and the ears, despite fighting it, it entered my mouth, then for a while I couldn't feel anything. It was like my entire body shut down except for my mind. It was like I was floating in a void, an empty expanse. I felt nothing."- ███████.
Further research revealed that the SCP attacks through all and any entry points on the head. The study of the body after an attack proved that the bile, as long as it's attached to the SCP, can cancel the body's nervous system. It does this to absorb the bio-electricity the human body creates from the victim before attacking the brain. The bile by itself will dissolve within 3-5 minutes from detaching from the nucleus-like body, and it doesn't persist long enough for any significant in-depth testing.
Despite our tries, we can only seem to find one in existence, and this is a problem for our more high-ranking scientists, for they have found a more useful purpose for 7001. They are using the creature as a low budget sensory deprivation tank. Only scientists with level 4 clearance or higher are allowed to use it. They claim that without having to focus on your body, the brain can focus on more big picture ideas and problems. The only downside is because the SCP uses bioelectricity from nerves as a form of food. The scientist (SCP-7001-1) is always in extreme danger because the body is slowly shutting down, anyone can use the SCP for no longer than 5 minutes, or less if the overseer of the SCP believes that the scientist is dying.
The unique room design was created by a Dr. ████ ████████ to help with containment with the creature. It allows the monster to unleash its tentacles through the walls without the nucleus also passing through. First, the doctor or scientist will wash themselves to be sure they don't bring any disease with them into the chamber (to prevent any unknown bacteria or virus that the SCP isn't prepared for). The scientist will step into the room and relax his body so the SCP doesn't need to put forth too much effort to get inside. The SCP, sensing the scientist, will send the tentacles through small holes in the steel wall. Then the inky tentacles will enter the scientist through the mouth, ears, and nose. The scientists will monitor the personnel that is in "the void" and if anything goes awry like what is detailed in Dr.'s notes. (diary entries below) the emergency switch must be flipped, and the alarm will sound, and a sharp ended wall will drop, severing the tentacles from the nucleus and severing the SCP from the scientist. Then the scientist will be rushed to the in-house hospital to help him or her have a safe recovery.
Below is Dr.'s research and findings on SCP-7001.
<------------------>
The date is April 5th, 20██. I've finally made my way to the small town of ████████, ████. I am making my way into town after spending the night in a hotel just outside. The staff there seemed friendly, but none of them could look me in the eye. I checked my room to be sure that there weren't any kind of traps or anyone hiding inside. I can't be too careful; the foundation has already lost two people to this SCP. I looked in the desk next to the bed, and I found the sign meaning the foundation has been carved into the drawer under the bible, then below that, I found the sign indicating that this is a safe place to rest.
Going into town, I had an interview with the mother of a girl that had gone missing for less than a day. If it were up to me, I would have given it at least a day like police do, but the foundation said that if any more people went missing and didn't turn up that people would start calling in more prominent authorities than the police. If the FBI gets involved, we could risk losing the SCP, and it would be destroyed rather than captured and studied. They have a point, I assume, but I don't want any more "wild goose chases" over nothing. I'm nearing her house now, and maybe I can get some answers.
████: thank you for having me here today
████████: Of course, anything to help you find her
████: So, what is her personality? Your daughter, I mean?
████████: She is outgoing… umm, she enjoys nature a lot. She doesn't like being home for too long.
████: Well, that's a start, I suppose. Is there anywhere specific she enjoys being around? Where does she go when she goes out?
████████: Oh, I think she has a spot deep in the woods she likes to be. I wouldn't know where that is, of course, she always wanted it to be a secret.
████: Does she have any reason not to be at home?
████████: What do you mean by that!
This was a touchy subject.
████: Nothing, of course! Just is there any problems family wise so she wouldn't want to come back?
████████: Don't you have enough information?
She was dodging the question.
████: No, could you tell me if she has any kind of drug problem or was around any people that would be doing those types of th-
████████: Absolutely not! What organization did you say you were from anyway?
This conversation was going downhill.
████: Well, I think I have enough information.
████████: I'd hope so.
I stepped out and made my way to the forest, and I checked my notes that the foundation gave me. The last man to hunt this creature interviewed this older man's wife, and the previous townsperson to go missing was an older man who used to be a forest ranger. So, the fact that this girl was a hippy wasn't surprising to me. The forest seems to be where this monster resides. So, I headed straight there.
The forest looked foreboding from right outside the entrance to the walking path. I looked at the ground and saw the millions of footprints that layered the ground. That didn't nail anything down; this is a frequently used path. I looked up and saw the full trees, rooftops of green filled the sky; it was going to be almost pitch black at night. It's a good thing I have all my equipment because I have until sunrise to find her before that mother goes on mass panic. I take my first step into the unknown. The main path isn't going to be where the SCP is, or else almost everyone in the town would be gone, but I didn't have many options. I walked down the path, looking for any sign of where to get off. There weren't many animals here either, not that I was looking for them, but I thought it strange that I couldn't hear any birds, and I didn't see any squirrels. Then I found a squirrel; it was lying on the ground dead. I picked it up, and I couldn't make out how it could have died, it's almost like it stopped, possibly a heart attack. I prodded its stomach, and some strange dark liquid came out of its mouth and ears. I dropped it out of a reflex; it was disgusting. It didn't have much of a smell so it couldn't have been long, or the dark bile was preserving it; either way, the monster was here, and the beast is real.
I pressed on and found cracked sticks and some dead grass forming a path to a clearing. I was getting darker, and I was going to pull out my flashlight when I saw some light smolders on the ground. I pulled out my flashlight to reveal I was at a small campsite. Some wrapped snacks and cans of beer littered the ground. I couldn't find anything that would point to any illegal substances. Then as I stood back up, a blur flew past my flashlight, and I gulped. This creature was fast. I took out my knife and held it in a threatening motion, I didn't want to kill it, but I hoped that it thought I did. I circled, looking for it with my flashlight, but it was nowhere in sight. I closed my eyes and listened to the creature, but I couldn't hear anything. Then I heard a twig snap and a mush sound. I opened my eyes, and I saw a cellular creature with a dark fluid body and a mysterious red orb inside. The SCP leaped at me, and I moved my head just in time, I turned around and pointed my flashlight only to see it flee into the forest.
I can't miss it. I can't lose my chance at capture. It was pitch black now, and I was in a full sprint, trying to chase it. If it wasn't for the noise, it was making moving at such a high speed, and I would have lost it. I followed its trail to a large cave, and I shined my light into the entrance. There wasn't anything that stood out, but when I saw movements deeper inside, I knew I had to follow.
The cave started narrowing when I saw a fence gate. It warned "no trespassing," but the shackles that held the door shut have already been worn off, and the door stood wide open. I thought that I probably ranked higher than a police officer, and I pressed on. I didn't get too deep into the forbidden part of the cave when I found the SCP's lair. What I found was disturbing, litters of squirrels and similar small creatures, then I found bodies, several of them. I found the fallen field agents by the logo of the foundation on the insides of their coats. As I stood in horror at the pileup, I heard a squishing noise and muffled noises, noises that sounded like a human's.
I ran into the next area of the cave and found who I assumed to be the missing girl. She had long blond hair that had flowers in it, a majority of those flowers had fallen out and were laying around her in an almost makeshift funeral, the creature had attached itself to her face and had made its way inside her head. It hadn't seemed to notice me yet, so I had the element of surprise on my side. I reached into my bag and grabbed the containment cube I had been given before I started fieldwork. The creature had been reported to be about the size of two basketballs put together, so the cube was sized according to that. All I had to do was rip it off her face and put it in. I had my special gloves on so this shouldn't be too difficult. I quietly walked behind it and grabbed it from behind, my gloved hands passed through its gelatin outside, and I almost pulled away as the nucleus inside started panicking, I shuttered as I felt small shocks when I grabbed the center and I started pulling. As I drew it towards me, the girl opened her eyes, and I pulled harder as the tentacles seeping into the girl started detaching. The SCP started fighting me, the liquid started seeping up my arms, and onto my jacket, I fought it for what felt like an hour (but was probably five minutes) as I finally pushed it into the container, and I shut the lid. I fell to the girl's side and started providing CPR. She started coughing up the liquid, and it started steaming once it hit the ground. I helped her to her feet and asked her a couple of questions. She refused to answer any of them until I asked how it felt. She said "Nothing" and started repeating that to herself over and over again until she vomited the thin black bile that surrounds SCP-7001. I set her outside and called in for a helicopter to take her to a foundation-funded hospital. I got outside the town before daybreak and gathered my things and left. The hotel staff must know that I'm a part of the foundation due to the dirty looks I'm getting, that or they want me to leave so they do not have to look busy anymore. I hope I can get a higher rank after I get back, so I do not have to worry about field missions anymore. I believe I deserve to be the head researcher of this new SCP.
<------------------>
Addendum: This SCP has recently shown signs of mind-altering abilities. Scientists and D-Class members alike have recently made failed attempts to release SCP-7001. These compromised individuals (SCP-5001-2) have been recorded to have voices in their heads, asking them to release SCP-7001. If someone is proven to be compromised, then they are to be taken in for questioning by Dr. ████ the finder and head researcher of SCP-7001, and if signs persist, then they are to be terminated.
