SCP-XXXX upon Foundation acquisition.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard lockbox in the containment wing of Site-77. Research on SCP-XXXX may be done with permission and supervision of a researcher with level 4 security clearance. The folds of SCP-XXXX are not to be manipulated.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an anomalous origami object made of white paper. When unfolding is attempted, it becomes another shape. Each shape stays roughly the same size, being no larger than 18 centimeters in any dimension. The differing shapes cause different phenomena, hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-1. It is unknown if SCP-XXXX can be refolded, and if so, what the effects are. SCP-XXXX's current form is an origami beetle. A Japanese beetle labeled SCP-XXXX-1d is always present near it. Attempts to separate SCP-XXXX from SCP-XXXX-1d have failed as SCP-XXXX-1d seems to dematerialize and then rematerialize near SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-1d appears to be immortal, as it does not require food and is apparently immune to harm.

SCP-XXXX was originally located at the ██████ █████ Shrine in ███, Japan. It is believed that SCP-XXXX was created by the Fujiwara family for religious purposes sometime between the eleventh and twelfth centuries CE. It came to Foundation attention on 1/5/████ when reports of [REDACTED] began in the area. Further investigation found information regarding the burglary of an artifact at the ██████ █████ Shrine. SCP-XXXX was apprehended and transported to Site-64. After the discovery of the document SCP-XXXX-A, it was transported to Site-77 for higher security storage. SCP-XXXX-A is recorded in Addendum-XXXX-02.

All known shapes and effects of SCP-XXXX are related to Shinto. In particular, each effect is a kami, and the shape is related to the kami. When stolen, SCP-XXXX had the form of a dharma wheel. Upon acquisition, SCP-XXXX had the form of a face, and caused [REDACTED]. Further testing revealed several more shapes and effects; see Addendum-XXXX-01.
