Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Due to the unstable nature of international relations with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), SCP-XXX is currently considered both uncontained, and uncontainable. (Please see Addendum XXXX-1.) This containment status is subject to change, should significant diplomatic inroads with the DPRK be achieved, either by Foundation's own Governmental Relations Office, or by diplomatic channels in nations under significant Foundation influence.
Until such time that an opportunity for more direct containment presents itself, the following Mitigation Procedures and Protocols (MPP) have been enacted:
- MTF Delta-3 ("Five-Clawed Dragon") has been formed and officially activated, and since 2012 has been stationed at Armed Area 40, in the hilly region less than ██km East of the Joint Security Area, on the South Korean side of the DMZ.
- Delta-3 is composed of tactical response and exigent containment personnel, with secondary specialized skill sets necessary for cultural infiltration, intelligence/counterintelligence operations, and special reconnaissance within the Southeast and East Asian areas of operation.
- In the even that direct intervention is permitted, (or outweighs the consequences of violating DPRK sovereignty) Delta-3 can mobilize half of its forward-deployable units stationed at Armed Area 40 within four hours. Additionally, airmobile elements of Delta-3 can be on target anywhere within the designated anomalous activity zone (DAAZ) within 2 hours, by way of MH-60M, MH-60M DAP, and CH-47G helicopters. (See addendum XXXX-2.)
- As of 2015, SCiPSAT Heimdall-Er-285 has been permanently tasked to MTF Delta-3, and has been reassigned to a low Earth orbit with a ██ minute coverage period over North Korea every ██ minutes.
- SCiPSAT Heimdall-Er-285 is a reconnaissance satellite with signals intelligence and telephoto surveillance capabilities. In addition, it is equipped with an on-board AN/DOY-12 "Wraithwatcher" package.
- Embedded Foundation affiliates in United Nations Security Council member states have been directed to escalate tensions with the DPRK, with the intention of destabilizing the governing regime, or provoking an all out armed conflict between the DPRK and nations under significant Foundation influence.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a series of reported and observed anomalous events occurring within a designated anomalous zone (DAZ) entirely within the border of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, (with one exception) beginning shortly after the death of former North Korean Supreme Leader, ███ ████-██ in late 2011. The DAZ itself is located in the Western half of the DPRK, concentrated within the provinces of Pyongyang, South Pyongyang, North Hwanghae, and South Hwanghae.
Due to an ongoing atmosphere of heightened diplomatic tension between the government of the DPRK and all Foundation ally states, it has so far proven impossible to insert any observation, research or containment teams into the DAAZ. Both the Chinese branch of the Foundation, and even sympathetic contacts within the People's Liberation Army Occult Division have been completely unable to establish any dialogue with the Worker's Party of Korea regarding SCP-XXXX. Indeed, while it appears that the WPK has no known sub-organization responsible for the handling of the anomalous, they would perceive any action by the Foundation within DPRK borders as an act of "Western Imperialism."
Because of the complete lack of information regarding SCP-XXXX, it is unknown if the anomalous events known to have occurred within the DAZ are related, or are separate incidents. Until a better understanding of these events can be ascertained, each event has been given a sub-classification under the auspices of SCP-XXXX. A truncated collection1 of logs relating to a number of such events have been included below, and are presented in chronological order.
SCP-XXXX-A01
Date: December 21, 2011
Description: A convoy of 104 armored fighting vehicles approaching the Northern entrance to the Third Tunnel of Aggression, first observed by a ROK Army long-range observation post monitoring the tunnel. The vehicles enter the tunnel and disappear, causing all U.S. and ROK forces in the Sudogwon region to go to high alert. Of note, the tunnel is only wide enough to accommodate three columns of marching infantry, and is far too small for armored vehicles to pass through. After seven days of a continual heightened defensive posture, scans were performed with ground penetrating radar to attempt to locate the convoy. No traces of the vehicles were observed, nor was any subterranean space capable of housing 104 armored fighting vehicles.
Later photographic analysis confirmed that the 104 vehicles in the convoy were M38 Wolfhound armored cars, a prototype developed by the United States at the tail end of the Second World War. Less than a dozen M38's were produced by the Allies, with a further twenty-four produced for the Foundation to assist in containing SCP-████ outside of Cairo, Egypt in 19██. None were ever deployed or shipped to anywhere near the Korean Peninsula.
Responsive Action Taken:
Due to the unexplainable nature of details surrounding the incident, the Foundation was contacted for assistance, which led to the eventual identification of the DAZ and formation of MTF Delta-3.
SCP-XXXX-A02
Date: August 14, 2012
Description: A single North Korean male, apprehended near Panjun, South Korea while attempting to defect from the DPRK. The subject appears malnourished, and bears scars and injuries consistent with other survivors of North Korean work camps. When recovered, SCP-XXXX-A02 was rambling incoherently about a "room that went on forever" and some sort of enormous, green creature. After a round of sedatives, SCP-XXXX-A02 was able to give a fuller account of his experiences. A translated version, truncated to details relevant to SCP-XXXX follows.
Due to similarities between SCP-XXXX-A02's account and SCP-004, the subject has been administered amnestics to remove only the past 96 hours of formed memories.
Responsive Action Taken:
Armed Area 40 director, Col. Malcolm Stepwell, creates plans for a raid across the DMZ into Kijŏng-dong in order to locate the key and door mentioned by SCP-XXXX-A02 during his debrief. Plan denied on the basis that such an incursion would likely result in armed conflict.
SCP-XXXX-A03
Date: [REDACTED] 2013
Description: [DATA EXPUNGED]
All anomalous influences originating from within the DPRK have been removed from the 05 Council.
Responsive Action Taken:
Surviving members of the O5 Council have agreed to participate in MOLECH identity verification protocols before any in-person meeting of 3 or more council members.
SCP-XXXX-A04
Date:May 9, 2014
Description: The Greetingman statue, located in Haean, Yanggu County, Gangwon Province. Notably, this is the only event in this sequence known to have occurred outside the borders of the DPRK. It is unknown how this event, if at all, relates with other anomalies within the DAZ. However, due to Haean township's proximity to the border, this event has been classified under SCP-XXXX.
At 1104 KST, SCP-XXXX-A04 is observed drawing itself up from it's "bow" and then stretching as if waking after a prolonged period of sleep. It then begins moving westward at approximately 8kph, into the mountainous area surrounding the South Korean "Punchbowl." Aircraft from MTF Delta-3 locate SCP-XXXX-A04 meandering in the foothills at 38°18'23.2"N by 127°59'28.1"E.
As containment teams from Delta-3 approached SCP-XXXX-A04, it is reported to have stiffened then collapsed. Damage to the then inert statue revealed a cast copper copy of a complete human cardiovascular system, as well as metal replicas of several other major organs, along with an unknown internal structure in the lower right abdomen. Records obtained from the sculptor and metal die casting manufacturer involved, indicate that the statue was originally a single piece of cast aluminum.
An additional plaque was recovered from the base of the statue's original location, bearing only the words, "아르 우리 훌륭한 지금"3
Responsive Action Taken:
Shards collected and taken to Site-12, before being stored in Safe containers. Debate over attempting to reassemble the shards continues.
SCP-XXXX-A05
Date: November 28th, 2015
Description: An incident occurring a the Joint Security Area, which affected only native-born citizens of either the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, or the Republic of Korea. At 1425 KST, a broadcast began playing from speakers located on the North Korean side of the military demarcation line. The broadcast itself was described as chiefly the North Korean National anthem, slowed down to .25 playback speed, interspersed with quotes from The Communist Manifesto, sounds of animals screeching or roaring, and of glass being broken. The quotes were read by a number of different male and female voices, and in a variety of langues including Korean, English, French, Proto-Daevitic, Hmong Nua, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Russian.
Immediately following cessation of the broadcast, all effected individuals lapsed into a stupor for 3 minutes and 26 seconds. Basal brain functionality seemed to continue, as all victims were able to maintain standing posture, and retained control of handheld objects Additionally, autonomic respiratory functions continued as normal. One Master Sergeant Villalobos, a United States Army advisor stationed at the JSA, attempted to open the eyelid of an effected ROK guard. Msg. Villalobos reported that the guard's eyes were rapidly flicking to side to side. At the cessation of the stupor period, this individual expired. ROK personnel later all reported dreams involving many of the same elements, most notably including the heads of ███ ████-Il and ███ ████-Un grafted onto *Velociraptor* bodies.
Following the 3 minute 26 second period, all ROK personnel "awoke" and reverted to normal function. Personnel on the KPA side are reported to have remained in the stupor state, but resumed motor functional. Individual soldiers approached the MDL at differing speeds, as though attempting to cross it into South Korean territory. However, all seemed to collide with an invisible barrier, some being violently thrown back, and some simply falling over. This behavior continued for roughly 7 minutes.
Responsive Action Taken:
A recording of this broadcast was later analyzed by a memetic recognition algorithm, which reported a 97% Marquardt-Dunmore neuroharmonic disjunction rating. Plans to attempt an investigation of the invisible barrier area have been scrapped, as a thorough scientific analysis would require crossing the border at the JSA.

Date: September 9th, 2016
Description: A series of satellite imagery and telemetric readings obtained by SCiPSAT Heimdall-Er-285 during an orbital flyover of the DPRK between 15██ and 16██ hours Korean Standard Time.
The focus of this satellite imagery concerns a structure located at 39°46'23.0"N by 126°19'43.6"E, in the town of Tokchon, which is speculated to be largely uninhabited.
During this flyover period, the circular roof of the indicated building is gone, and appears to have been replaced with a human eyeball, with a sclera 24m in diameter. The iris appears hazel-brown, and maintained a diameter of 14.7m. No dilation of the pupil was observed, and remained at a static 3.45m diameter for the duration of the flyover. Thermal imaging of the building indicated that the eye was organic in nature, as opposed to being a paint layer on the roof. In addition, each sequential picture seemed to indicate that the pupil and iris readjusted several times, as if to keep SCiPSAT Heimdall-Er-285 in focus. During subsequent orbital flyover periods, the eye was not observed, and the circualr roof section of the structure had returned.
Responsive Action Taken:
Further analysis performed by 285's ground penetrating radar module indicated a void at least 20km deep, (significantly deeper than any other man-made excavations,) exactly under where the eye was previously observed. Plans for an excursion to Tokchong were drawn up, but were once again discarded due to the political climate.

Date: August 11th to august 14th, 2019
Description: A series of satellite imagery and telemetric readings obtained by SCiPSAT Heimdall-Er-285 during several oribtal consecutive flyover periods of the DPRK.
On August 11th, a featureless bronze stele measuring 14m x 2m x 2m, was observed being loaded on to a flatbed trailer attatached to a tractor-truck directly outside the Ryugyong Hotel, near the eastern road. Subesquent images show the truck moving on a north-eastern route, eventually approaching the Taedong River. Of note, crowds have been observed lining the streets of every village the truck has passed through, and smaller crowds have been noted behind the truck during its transit of highways. It appears that these crowds might be attempting to follow the vehicle or it's cargo, for whatever reason.
During the flyover on August 12, the stele was located at coordinates 39°33'58.2"N by 126°04'35.5"E, inside the Bukchang concentration camp. A large gathering can be seen around the stele, though it is impossible to tell if the individuals present are all prisoners, all gaurds, or a mixture thereof.
On August 13th, the unorganized gathering noted the day before appears to have arranged itself into 11 thin conentric rings, with a larger mass of individuals at a single point along each ring.[[footnote]]The significance of this pattern is unknown. However, one astro-physical model proposed by Senior Researcher Deborah Bloom suggests that the inner 9 rings coresspond to planetary positions in 1253CE, during the last occurence of the ████ ████.
