This is an NK class SCP awaiting approval for transfer to SK class after the sighting of scp XXXX-1 on December 24, 2017. As per protocol 5324, if any individual leaks information about this SCP without the unanimous approval of the 05 Council, they are subject to punishments ranging from relieving of their position with the application of amnestics to termination depending on the situation and severity of the leak.
Special Containment Procedures:
There are currently no known methods of containment for SCP XXXX. This is due to the pandemic scale of the SCP with approximately 653 million confirmed cases and an estimated [REDACTED] additional cases. However, limited containment procedures, such as in cases where foundation or government personnel are infected, can be contained by quarantine in a sterile room with NBC air filters going both in and out. If any individuals within the foundation are exposed to SCP XXXX, they are to be immediately quarantined and, if blood tests reveal infection, they are to be given class 3 amnesiacs and immediately expelled from the Foundation unless above clearance level 3, in which case they will be kept in quarantine indefinitely. While in quarantine, they may only leave while wearing a full body hazmat suit and accompanied at least two armed guards at all times. They will only be given amnesiacs and released into the general public if they specifically request that option. There are no exceptions to these rules. If SCP XXXX should activate at any time, quarantine area lockdown protocol Alpha 6 is immediately to be put into effect. Also, due to the severity of this event, upon activation all SCP facilities are to immediately follow self-sufficiency protocol Omega 240 code-named “Lifeboat.” All non-infected civilians are to be instructed to stay in a secure location and the governments of every G20 nation, as well as those of Cuba, Switzerland and Norway, are to be immediately evacuated to the nearest facility with self-sufficiency capability. Upon their arrival, sterilization protocol 232-Zulu is to be activated to try to prevent the ratio of [REDACTED] from being reached. See addendum-5, and addendum-6 for further details.
Scp XXXX-1 Special containment procedures:
There are no known ways of containing SCP XXXX-1 with current technology. This is due to SCP XXXX-1’s massive size and far superior technological capability. Due to this SCP's current low emission of light and distance from earth, as well as its presence hidden under the lunar surface it is not yet visible with civilian telescopes. However, in the event of a leak, amnestic protocol #2352 is to be immediately put into effect. The craft is to be monitored by no fewer than two satellites or observatories at any given time. In the event that it enters our atmosphere, defense protocol Kepler is to be immediately put into effect.
Description:
SCP XXXX is a self-replicating nanobot approximately 0.5 micrometres in size. The nanobot appears to have entered the general population after the impact of the Chelyabinsk meteor on February 15, 2013, near Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia. It was first discovered by agent [DATA EXPUNGED] after he came into possession of a fragment on the day of impact. He proceeded to send the fragment to Site 39 where it was found to contain SCP XXXX after testing was conducted. The area subsequently underwent a soft quarantine under the guise of restoring order, and travel was restricted due to poor road conditions. In the following days, hospitals, media and social media in the area were monitored for any mention of SCP XXXX. The SCP was originally thought to have been contained and was briefly classified as Euclid before Foundation and Russian government testing revealed that the nanobot was self-replicating and had likely spread outside of Russia. Upon this discovery, SCP XXXX was upgraded to Keter and was designated as an NK class SCP. Of greater concern, however, Sierra level disease progression tests conducted by the Russian Ministry of Health showed that SCP XXXX is capable of “activating” via a remote command. Despite the failure of physical tests to try to activate SCP XXXX, computer simulations have proved a reliable alternative.
- 30 seconds after initial activation, infected individuals will likely begin undergoing seizures.
- 5 minutes after initial activation, an individual will lose consciousness and cease convulsions.
- 10 minutes after initial activation, an individual will display obvious signs of physical change such as loss of body fat, depending on the individual; the restructuring of the eyes to no longer include pupils, becoming larger in the process; and a decrease in size of the nose, mouth and ears.
- 15 minutes after initial activation, individuals’ fingernails will completely dissolve and the fingers will taper off, with a similar effect on the individuals’ feet. At this time, any health issues the individuals previously had are projected to be completely eliminated by the nanobots. Interestingly, at this time individuals’ skin color will begin turning a dark shade of purple. It is not yet known if this is a way of identifying humans by SCP XXXX-1, or if this is simply the skin color of their species.This is also the stage in which the organs completely restructure, becoming more efficient and eliminating organs that are not essential.
- 20 minutes after initial activation, the individuals’ mouth, nose and ears are no longer visible. It is believed that food is ingested through absorption, smell though microscopic pores throughout the head, and noise through all pores above the waist.
- 30 minutes after initial activation, the nanobots will begin to affect the minds of the individuals. It has been found that each nanobot has been programed to make the host either docile or hostile. If an individual is being affected by the docile version, his or her mind will not be drastically affected. However, the nanobots appear to convert the brain into a series of complex computer systems rather similar to SCP 217. Despite this, the docile version of SCP XXXX, unlike SCP 217, preserves emotions, personality, critical thinking, reaction times, and other components of the mind that are warped or eliminated by SCP 217. However, if an individual is affected by the hostile strain, they are projected to lose up to 90% of their higher brain function, becoming extremely hostile toward all non-infected individuals in the process. Their bodies are also projected to be able to mutate rapidly if infected by the hostile strain. This would likely allow for greater levels of infection and access to previously inaccessible areas. Despite this it is still projected that infected individuals will remain carbon based.
- 35 minutes after initial infection the individual will regain consciousness.
- 37 minutes after initial infection, an individual's body will automatically begin producing copies of SCP XXXX adding to the regular self-replication of SCP XXXX. These copies will “infect” unprotected individuals near the individual while the remaining copies of SCP XXXX latch on to and eventually convert air particles, making them infectious and allowing infected individuals within their vicinity to have damaged body parts repaired or even replaced in a matter of seconds after they are damaged. Eventually, it is predicted that once infected individuals outnumber non-infected individuals by a ratio of [DATA EXPUNGED], it will be impossible to halt the process and within [DATA EXPUNGED] weeks all oxygen on Earth, except for oxygen located within sites with self-sustaining capability, will be converted into a previously unknown substance now designated by the Foundation as [REDACTED]. This substance is found to consist of 45% Oxygen 5% Argon 5% Helium 30% Nitrogen 5% Neon 4% Krypton and 6% Hydrogen.Their motives for terraforming Earth are currently unknown.
Addendum-1:
After testing was conducted by DR. Thompson all plants and animals were determined to be susceptible to the nanobot. During the testing it was found that species with an IQ Above 30 are subject to the same level of altering as humans. Although all species except for humans lack a hostile strain.
Addendum-2:
SCP 3003-3 has reported cases of SCP XXXX, leading the Foundation to believe that this could be an attempt at universe wide colonization by SCP XXXX-1. This discovery has also lead to joint cooperation between both civilizations to try to find a way to deactivate the nanobots. However there has been no success thus far, and SCP 3003-3 has refused to share any further information with the Foundation.
Addendum-3:
Further computer testing has revealed that SCP-XXXX appears to create a “hive mind” in infected individuals once activated. This appears to only be partial however, and will not be capable of overriding an infected individuals mind. This also appears to be present in hostile individuals leading researchers to believe that it will be a way for those infected with the hostile strain to coordinate once the nanobots “activate”.
SCP 4562-1 Description:
Scp XXXX-1 refers to the alien species and their crafts suspected of creating SCP XXXX. It was first discovered in 2005 after the Foundation detected a wormhole within the Whirlpool galaxy. At the time, the most available telescope was the [REDACTED] space telescope. It took 21 pictures over the next three hours before Foundation space telescope [REDACTED] took over and NASA classified the pictures. About 36 hours later, the craft was classified as SCP [DATA EXPUNGED]. About 14 years later, on September 16, 2018, at 3:34 AM Pacific Standard Time, severe tremors were reported by automated systems within Lunar Area 32. After about four seconds of tremors, all automated systems located on floor B6 and below within Area 32 abruptly ceased functioning, and the area was placed under automated lockdown. Within the next five minutes, automated systems detected no life signs below floor B5. This lead to the activation of automated distress protocol Atrium X-2. However, once a rescue team arrived at Area 32, they found that no individuals within Area 32 had any recollection of the event or subsequent lockdown.
Furthermore, all individuals who automated systems had determined to be deceased were found alive and unharmed, and all video and audio recordings of the event located both at Area 32 and on Earth were reported missing. Upon this discovery, Area 32 was quarantined and all staff underwent physical and psychological tests. Remarkably, every member of the Area 32 staff who were below floor B5 tested positive for SCP XXXX. What appeared to be a nearly-impenetrable metal wall was discovered after drilling for about 213 meters in an operation that took until September 28, 2018. Upon examination and testing conducted by DR Rallison, it was determined that the substance was not native to any known region within the visible universe, adding that the material likely ranked as an 87 on the Mohs hardness scale. The element was subsequently named [ENTER SECURITY CODE HERE] and placed on the Foundation’s Periodic Table. The situation was monitored, but beyond the quarantine and subsequent relieving of the low-level infected individuals’ positions, as well as the placing of new equipment to monitor the wall, no major action was taken.

However, of greatest concern was the fact that after laser analysis below the lunar surface, it was found that the moon possibly had been “hollowed out” during the event that took place on September 16, 2018. This was not widely believed by Foundation scientists until February 1, 2019, when a meteorite impacted Cuba, a nation which at the time was one of only two countries where no infections had been reported (the other being Kazakhstan). The meteorite in question was detected by Cuban military radar after Foundation sensors recorded a rock being ejected from a previously unknown 213-meter deep hole located on the lunar surface. When Foundation personnel were dispatched to the area, they did not find any such hole, and after another smaller drilling operation took only two days, nothing except the metal barrier was found. Within five days of the event, the Cuban government reported to the Foundation that multiple hospitals had reported outbreaks of SCP 4562 in western Cuba. This finding led to all low-level hospital staff being monitored for any mention of SCP XXXX in the following days with no mention reported. This event led to SCP [DATA EXPUNGED] being reclassified as SCP XXXX-1. After this reclassification multiple wormholes were detected under the lunar surface with no subsequent effect on area 32.
These events have lead many Foundation staff to believe that this species has reached type IV or possibly even type V on the Kardashev scale. It has also lead to speculation that this species is capable of Interdimensional travel due to their utilization of wormholes, and elements not known to our universe. On top of this due to the infection of Cuba, and the moon appearing to be used as a base of operations, most Foundation researchers agree that SCP XXXX-1 is in the final stages of activating SCP XXXX. This has lead to significant worry among the 05-council and senior research staff as well as the increase in priority of retrofitting facilities for self sufficiency.
Addendum-4:
Multiple attempts have been made to communicate with SCP XXXX-1 including, but not limited to numerical communication, morse code, the 36 most spoken languages on earth, and multiple SCP’s. All attempts to communicate with SCP XXXX-1 have failed.
Addendum-5:
Emergency self sufficiency protocol “lifeboat” is a biological self sufficiency protocol that is to be put into effect at all available facilities in the event of the activation of SCP-XXXX. This protocol requires multiple steps, which are laid out below:
Upon reports of SCP-XXXX’s activation all foundation facilities are to go into lockdown, until confirmation from at least 30 field agents. In the event that the facility has individuals quarantined, facility staff are to immediately check in on the individuals, to see if the process has begun. If it has, the hostile individuals, before regaining consciousness, are to be terminated via radiation poisoning and the filling of the room with hydrofluoric acid. The docile individuals are to be watched until they regain consciousness upon which they will be asked whether they want to stay, or leave. In the event that a hostile individual survives, all docile individuals are to be evacuated and released outside of the facility, while the quarantine area goes into lockdown. Approximately 5 minutes after lockdown is put into effect Novichok agent A-232 is to be dispersed into the quarantine area. Following this, the quarantine area is to be abandoned. If abandonment is not an option, remote operated flamethrowers are to be used to sterilize the room.
Immediately following this, all foundation personnel including field agents are to be immediately recalled to foundation facilities. Governments are to evacuate all non-infected civilians to “evacuation zones” (non infected cities, and isolated areas). This is meant to limit infections, and keep them below the terraforming threshold. At this time, governments are to be instructed to execute all hostile infected, and to take any means necessary to stop the threshold from being reached.
Once a capable foundation site has at least 1000 individuals inside or it has been 4 days since activation it is to be automatically sealed off from the outside world. Upon this event, large amounts of plants as well as SCP’s if available, are to be used to generate air, and filter out carbon dioxide. Greenhouses utilizing aquaponics and sunlight replicating lights are to be used for food. Water is to be generated through underground aquifers, the eventual goal being to drill to other sights where SCP’s can be utilized to generate more water, food, and air. During this, research is to be conducted into utilizing SCP’s with the goal, of escaping to an alternate dimension.
Addendum-6:
sterilization protocol 232-Zulu is the protocol that is to be activated, if SCP-XXXX activates. This protocol is only to be used as a last resort, and would likely kill up to 97% of the human population. This protocol requires the approval or pre-approval of at least ⅘ of the O5 council as well as the approval of the administrator. The administrators refusal can only be overridden with a unanimous agreement from the O5 council.
Upon approval of sterilization protocol 232-Zulu emergency broadcasts are to be broadcasted on all televisions, phones, computers, and radios. These broadcasts are to order all citizens to seek shelter with 3 weeks worth of food and water. Governments are to be told to evacuate to smaller cities, nuclear shelters, or aircraft.
24 hours after the broadcasts killable Keter and Euclid class SCP’s are to be released in heavily infected cities.They are to be contained in the cities by MTF units in cooperation with national militaries.
48 hours after the broadcasts Nuclear bombs are to be detonated in the 4000 most infected cities. Larger cities will likely receive multiple nuclear detonations.
After 2 months if the infection threshold for terraforming has not been reached, rescue teams will be dispatched to infected areas to evacuate any surviving civilians and eliminate any surviving infected individuals. These individuals are to be evacuated to so called “evacuation zones” or foundation sites.
Once evacuations have been completed, foundation and government teams are to search all possible areas. Using all available methods to find and eliminate infected individuals before the onset of nuclear winter.
Upon the onset of nuclear winter all foundation MTF units will be recalled. Surviving individuals will go to work in greenhouse farming and, in colder climates such as the Siberia or Northern Territories evacuation zones, hunting. This stage will last until nuclear winter passes. Further planning depends on the state of the planet, and the state of the foundation.
