Special containment procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in the newly constructed eco-anomalous rainforest habitat at site ██. The habitat is outfitted with a fully functional micro ecosystem including producers, primary, secondary, and tertiary consumers, scavengers and native flora. All of these organisms should be native to the ██████ rainforest. During the day the habitat is to be kept at 35°C and at night, 19°C.
The terrarium is to be monitored by high-definition magnified cameras and patrolled by zTYS-MK.IV “Micro-poda” drones controlled by Foundation AI ‘Heliosis’. All data received is to be analysed by Heliosis and data of interest to be sent to the research team.
An exclusion zone 20km in radius, centered around the location where SCP-XXXX was located is to be patrolled by 10,000,000 (ten million) ManTYS-MK.II “Myrmidon” drones controlled by Foundation AI ‘Acridina’. Acridina is instructed to capture any spotted instances of SCP-XXXX and taken to a nearby temporary habitat before monthly transportation to the main colony at site ██. If any instances are found closer than 10km to the outer edge of the exclusion zone, the exclusion zone is to be increased by a further 10km and 5,000,000 (five million) additional ManTYS-MK.II units are to be constructed to aid in additional patrol operations. If no instances of SCP-XXXX are located within a time period of 5 months since the last spotting, the removal of the exclusion zone operation is to be up for discussion.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a colony and species of previously unknown ants named ‘Formica sapiens’. These ants show hyper-intelligence, developing at an anomalous rate. They also possess a basic form of telepathic communication between organisms. At the time of discovery, the specimens showed a ‘human stone age’ level of societal development. At present, their society is similar to a post-war period monarchy.
Physiologically, instances of SCP-XXXX are similar to the bullet ant1, but feature a smaller head and much smaller mandibles, longer thorax and enlarged abdomen. They also feed and perform most other activties the same as other ants. The only difference is their societal structure, which can be described as a form of feudal monarchy. It features a Queen at the top echelon of command, with her honor guard and other soldier ats below, filling the stereotypical roles of nobles and knights. The worker ants lie at the bottom, forming approximately 85% of the colony's population and acting as a labour force2.
Among the colony, the ‘worker’ ants are designated instances of SCP-XXXX-A, The soldier ants SCP-XXXX-B, the queen is designated SCP-XXXX-C and a specific ant named ‘Zurich'3, whom the foundation uses to communicate with the colony and learn more about their eusocial systems, is SCP-XXXX-D.
