Talk About Some Catchy Tunes.
Item#: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a standard containment locker, unplugged and locked at all times.
SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a a sound proof box within a standard containment locker fitted with sound proof material. Site personnel overseeing testing or guarding SCP-XXXX are to be equipped with sound cancelling headgear and must be able to understand sign language as a means of communication. Under no circumstances is the headgear to be removed. In the event of a containment breach involving SCP-XXXX, all on site personnel must put on sound cancelling headgear when possible.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a retro vinyl record player with a radio, CD, and cassette player that is 33.8 centimeters in length, 42.3 centimeters in width, and 23.4 centimeters in height.
When SCP-XXXX is in the vicinity of any sapient individuals, SCP-XXXX will then begin to emit music that correlates to any exposed individual's preference. When individuals listen to the said music, they are then rendered completely inert and will not break from this state until completely removed from the vicinity of SCP-XXXX and are unable to hear the music anymore. Individuals who remain inert in SCP-XXXX's vicinity for longer than fifteen minutes will cause the appearance of an entity, hereby designated as SCP-XXXX-1, a shrouded black figure roughly two meters in height. SCP-XXXX-1, once spawned, will then walk or levitate to all inert individuals in the vicinity and begin transforming them into either a disc, vinyl record, or a cassette tape, hereby called SCP-XXXX-1-A. The transformation is a painless process that results in the individual being surrounded in the same kind of shroud that envelopes SCP-XXXX-1. Once fully shrouded the shape of the individual begins to contort and rearrange the once human shape until it has fully developed into SCP-XXXX-1-A.
When SCP-XXXX-1-A are played from anything that is not SCP-XXXX they then begin to have the exact same effects as SCP-XXXX until removed. When SCP-XXXX-1-A are played on SCP-XXXX, the previous mentioned anomalous properties stop and allow the listener to hear the thoughts of the individual before they were transformed by SCP-XXXX-1. On top of this, it is learned that SCP-XXXX-1 will appear as well, only their shrouded appearance is gone. Without the shroud SCP-XXXX-1 is noticed to be a healthy Caucasian male wearing a clean grey business suite and a pair of aviator sunglasses. During the duration of SCP-XXXX-1-A recordings, SCP-XXXX-1 simply stands by SCP-XXXX and observes the listener.
Note: SCP-XXXX is capable of activating even when unplugged resulting in the incident in the addendum below.
Addendum: After several foundation personnel who oversaw security and testing of SCP-XXXX were found transformed as SCP-XXXX-1A around SCP-XXXX's containment locker, SCP-XXXX's designation is to be upped from Safe to Euclid. Containment procedures are to be adjusted as such.
Discovery Log: Upon discovery by Foundation Agent ████████, SCP-XXXX-1 had managed to transform all but two people in the town of ██████, Nebraska into SCP-XXXX-1-A to C. Amnesiacs were given to the two remaining civilians as well as a cover story being made. The retrieval team managed to secure SCP-XXXX and brought it to site ██.
Test- 01 ██/██/██89
Subjects: Two D-Class personnel
Procedure: Neither subjects are to wear sound cancelling headgear.
Results: SCP-XXXX began to play music as indicated by both subjects going inert. After fifteen minutes of exposure SCP-XXXX-1, appeared and transformed both subjects into SCP-XXXX-1-A.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX properties appear to be as the discovery log stated when retrieval teams went in.
Test- 02 ██/██/██92
Subjects: Two D-Class personnel
Prodecure: Subject-1 is to wear sound cancelling headgear, Subject-2 is not.
Results: Only Subject-2 went inert upon SCP-XXXX playing its music. Subject-1 attempted to remove them from this state by shaking and shouting at them. Upon the fifteen minute mark SCP-XXXX-1 appeared and only transformed Subject-2 and ignored Subject-1 who fled to a corner and cowered. Subject-2 was transformed into a SCP-XXXX-1-A.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX-1 appears to only transform individuals who are rendered inert by SCP-XXXX's effects.
Test- 03 ██/██/██06
Subjects: Two animals one a canis lupus familiaris, and the other a felis catus.
Prodecure: Subject-D and Subject-C are to not wear any sound cancelling headgear.
Results: SCP-XXXX did not begin to play any music, while both subjects began to wander around the cell. Guards later came in wearing sound cancelling headgear with one D-Class personnel not wearing any. SCP-XXXX was then indicated to activate when the D-Class went inert. The guards escorted Subject-D and Subject-C out along with the inert D-Class.
Analysis: SCP-XXXX seems to only effect sapient individuals, the D-Class also returned to a normal state once unable hear the music.
Test- 04 ██/██/██12
Subjects: Two D-Class personnel.
Procedure: Neither subjects is to wear any sound cancelling headgear. A copy of SCP-XXXX-1-A is to played on a Foundation device.
Results: Immediately both subjects went inert when the copy was played, and after fifteen minutes of exposure SCP-XXXX-1 appeared, and transformed both subjects into a copy of SCP-XXXX-1-A.
Analysis: Copies of SCP-XXXX-1-A appear to be able to display the same anomalous properties when played. Further testing of SCP-XXXX-1-A is required.
Test- 05 ██/██/██12
Subjects: One D-Class personnel.
Procedure: Subject is to have no sound cancelling headgear, due to Subject-1 being entirely deaf. Subject is to wait for a total of fifteen minutes before exiting the testing chamber.
Results: SCP-XXXX did not activate at any point during the procedure.
Analysis: On top of knowing when an individual has sound cancelling headgear, SCP-XXXX seems to be able to know when an individual is even capable of hearing sound.
Test- 06 ██/██/██13
Subjects: One D-Class personnel.
Procedure: Subject is to have no sound cancelling headgear, and to insert a copy of SCP-XXXX-1-A into SCP-XXXX.
Results: SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties were not evident due to the subject not going inert when played. SCP-XXXX-1 also appeared nearby SCP-XXXX watching the subject. Once of SCP-XXXX-1-A was finished, SCP-XXXX removed the copy of SCP-XXXX-1-A and SCP-XXXX-1 disappeared. The subject then collected the copy of SCP-XXXX-1-A.
Analysis: Due to SCP-XXXX not having any anomalous properties when a copy of SCP-XXXX-1-A was played, and the appearance of SCP-XXXX-1 without the shroud, suggests that a possible interview with SCP-XXXX-1 in the future.
Test- 07 ██/██/██15
Subjects: Four D-Class personnel.
Procedure: SCP-XXXX is to be unplugged and all but one of the subjects are to not wear any sound cancelling headgear. if SCP-XXXX is to activate then the subject wearing the headgear is to wait for SCP-XXXX-1 to appear. During this time they are to then escort one of the three subjects out of the testing chamber.
Results: SCP-XXXX activated as indicated by three of the subjects going inert. After fifteen minutes SCP-XXXX-1 appeared and began to transform the inert subjects. The subject wearing the headgear went to escort one subject out of the chamber only to be paralyzed the moment they laid a hand on one of the inert subjects while SCP-XXXX-1 was in the area.
Analysis: Once SCP-XXXX-1 is spawned, any means of removing any inert individuals from the area around SCP-XXXX seems to be impossible as of current.
