Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special containment procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained inside of a 10 by 10 meter room with a security camera on at all times. The door to the room requires no authentication. SCP-XXXX is placed in a containment box with no lock. A small Foundation tracking device has been placed on SCP Blank and should be checked regularly. This room is meant to compensate for loops whose endpoints are in its containment chamber. The door to this room is accessible at all times with no other security measures other than constant video surveillance. Permission to enter the room should be given from Head Researcher Sarahs or one of her staff directly, although personnel who enter and interact with SCP-XXXX are void of punishment unless their actions are not connected to an event or could endanger the safety of the object. If there is no designated SCP-XXXX-1 or the person who will use SCP Blank is unknown, a foundation member is to be chosen in order to fulfill the loop.
Any testing of SCP-XXXX is to be planned at least a week prior, with a set date for both the beginning and end of the loop. Test subjects must also be determined and put under heavy surveillance. If SCP-XXXX-1 is unable to be used, then the test should be called off if it is before a loop. If the loop has started and the assigned SCP-XXXX-1 cannot be used, then a researcher should be chosen to fulfill the loop at the end.
An unplanned or planned SCP-XXXX event should be completed as simply as possible unless limiting variables are part of the testing. Attempting to test the upper limits of the reality bending capabilities of SCP-XXXX is forbidden without the permission of both Head Researcher Sarahs and the O5 council and must be done off site in a remote location. Any attempts to place limiting variables on an unplanned event will be punished with demotion or even termination. If more than 5 bullet holes appear in more than one area in the facility, the door to the room should be opened constantly through the 3 day loop period and a researcher will be chosen to act as SCP-XXX-1. Any anomalous bullet holes are to be reported to the research team immediately. If several events occur that suggest a loop ending outside of Foundation grounds, a task force should be formed to help locate the bullet holes and get SCP-Blank to the location during the 3 day period.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a Glock 19 manufactured in 2017. There are some small scratches on the grip of the gun, and the clip inside of the gun is unable to be removed. The only identifying marking on the gun appears to be a small infinity symbol etched on top of the slide.
When the safety is turned off and the gun is fired by a human or living being that is able to use a firearm, it creates a muzzle flash. There is no sound created when fired. Nothing is ejected from the ejection port upon using the slide. Study of the internal structure of the gun shows that there is no ammo contained inside of the clip. When fired by a being that is non-sapient living or previously living being, such as a machine, the gun doesn’t not end a loop.
Exactly 3 days prior to the gun being fired, one or more bullet hole will appear. Exactly 3 days later, SCP-XXXX is fired at the location. The initial appearance of the bullet hole create a noise similar to a normal firearm. If the target is mobile, such as a living being, the location of the end of the loop does not have to correlate with the exact position where the bullet appeared 3 days prior. (See Testing Logs for more info). If a living being is killed with SCP-XXXX, or an object is damaged beyond the point of resembling its original self, the targets have been shown to partially reform or be moved into a position which makes the loop possible.
This loop has been proven impossible to break. If limitations are placed around the access of the gun, a series of what appears to be coincidences will occur to fulfill the loop no matter what. Due to the events contained within SCP-XXXX Incident Log-2, testing for the extent of its reality bending is forbidden on site. The person who fires the gun, designated SCP-XXXX-1, is indiscriminate as long as it finishes the loop. Loops from SCP occur regularly during containment even if there is a lack of people nearby. The source of these events is unknown, although planning for testing or usage of SCP-Blank within at least one day before the start of a planned event always causes an event. The object has no latent memetic effects when not in a loop. However, memetic properties can manifest if there are sufficient barriers in place.
Discovery: SCP Blank was discovered and automatically filed under the list of anomalous items for its ability to create the sound and muzzle flash of a bullet. 2 days prior to its discovery, several bullet holes appeared in the walls of the foundation break room. On the third day, Agent REDACTED used the gun to try and gauge the angles that the bullets may have been fired from, creating the loop. Personnel was reprimanded, but this has been removed due to reconsiderations from the O4-Council.
1 week later, a bullet hole appeared in the upper shoulder of D-1428 and several positions in hallway BLANK. 3 days after this incident, D-1428 and several other D-Class personnel attempted a security breach. At the time of this loop, SCP-XXXX was put in a containment locker unaccessible to those under Level 1 Clearance. During this breach, one of the staff assigned to anomalous items picked up the gun and attempted to use it as a deterrent, firing in the exact same spots where the bullet holes were created. Reviews of the security footage prompted further research, upon which several bullet holes appeared in the designated testing chamber prior to the selected testing date.
Despite being discovered 2 days prior to the endpoint of the first loop, it is unknown how this exactly occurred. The tip placed for SCP-XXXX has no known source, with the information about the object appearing on the databases without Foundation input. The information about it’s anomalous abilities, along with its inclusion on the log of anomalous items, all occurred through unknown means. The Foundation members who brought the weapon into custody cannot recall where they found it in exact terms, nor when they were informed of the tip. However, the item was likely found in the REDACTED region of the Eastern Coast of the United States. The ongoing theory states this occurred in order to complete the first loop in the Foundation break room, and that this tampering of information and reality to this extent was due to the large amount of limitations and distance. No further tests or unplanned loops have bended reality to this extent or in a similar manner, which seem to show that changing information is only done in order to fulfill specific loops with heavy limitations.
SCP-Blank Testing Logs:
| SCP-XXXX-1 | Starting Event | End Event | Additional notes | ||||
| D-1241 | 3 bullet holes appeared inside of the designated test chamber. | D-1241 was handed SCP-XXXX and asked to fire at any random spot in the room at any amount he wanted. D-1241 was not told of SCP-XXXX's properties. D-1241 fired at the exact same locations where the bullet holes were. When questioned afterwards, D-1241 stated no reason why he shot there, and expressed confusion over the reason for the testing. | No Additional notes | ||||
| D-1512 | A target placed in the testing chamber had a single hole shot in the top left third outer ring. SCP-XXXX was then immediately moved into the room and placed in a locked container. | SCP-XXXX was placed in a container with a keypad and a 16 digit code. D-1512 was asked to open the safe and shoot one time at any location they wanted. D-1512 was not aware of the abilities of SCP-XXXX. On the 3rd attempt, D-1512 was able to successfully guess the code, and fired at the same location as the start of the loop. | The chances of him getting that code right was 1*10^16 power. That can’t be just a lucky guess. The extent of the reality bending still needs more testing. | ||||
| D-4121 | A bullet wound correlating to SCP-XXXX appeared on D-4121’s left foot, destroying the two of her toes and chipping her 3rd metatarsal. First aid was applied, and the test continued without delay. | SCP Blank was placed in a steel box 2 inches thick and 0.5 meters in diameter. D-4121 was not told about SCP Blank or what was in the steel box, and was given no orders upon being placed in the room. D-4121 explored the room, then checked out the box and knocked on it to test if it was hollow. Without being prompted, D-4121 attacked the box by punching it and was able to destroy it despite her never showing this level of strength in the past. She attempted to fire at the window where the researchers were, but tripped due to the wound acquired at the start of the loop. She fired at the area where the bullet wound was and hit the ground. Subject was immediately terminate | No Additional Notes | No initial subject | Testing was planned in order to test how SCP Blank-A were chosen. Bullet holes appeared in the containment room 2 days before testing was planned, causing it to be rescheduled. SCP Blank was left in its containment room with an open door. | Nearing the end of the loop, SCP Blank was under heavy surveillance by researchers and security. Dr. [REDACTED] was watching the footage and suddenly felt panicked, ran out of the room and into the chamber and fired several rounds into that location. When asked, Dr. [REDACTED] said he felt panicked and worried that not having a subject would cause more collateral and that they were not prepared for those types of damages | Dr. [REDACTED] was initially reprimanded for interfering with testing, but after further review from the Ethics Board, all charges were dropped. It is believed that his actions were caused by the SCP, and that he had not broken protocol by participating in a test. His name has been expunged from the document in order to prevent harassment. |
| [REDACTED] | [REDACTED] | All items and persons involved in this loop partially reformed in order to allow for the loop to be finished. | It seems like the items have to at least partially resemble what they were before the loop ends. This shows that the item has more potential for bending reality than initially believed. | ||||
| A mechanical apparatus meant to simulate a human hand | A single bullet hole appeared in the testing chamber. The apparatus was selected and placed in the room one day prior to the end of the loop. | Apparatus attempted to fire the gun, but no muzzle flash was created. The controls of the mechanical hand malfunctioned, throwing the gun through the bulletproof glass and into the hands of Head Researcher Sarahs, causing her to accidentally use the firearm and fire at the hole. | So only Humans can finish the loop? Sarahs also didn’t want to use it, so intention doesn’t seem to be necessary. | ||||
| D-6723. The subject has expressed suicidal tendencies, and willingly chose to participate as the starting point of the loop. | A single bullet hole appeared in their head while in their quarters, going from the left to right hemisphere of the brain. Subject was then immediately placed in a testing chamber along with SCP-Blank with a steel door. There were no methods of observation other than a security camera that would show the footage after the endpoint in order to prevent interference. | Just before the endpoint, the corpse reanimated in order to finish the loop and fired SCP Blank in the corresponding hole. The corpse immediately returned back to an inanimate state. Tissue studies found no changes in muscle or skin, suggesting the body was moved by a third party. | The dead body reanimating is pretty extreme. From this test, along with previous events, it seems to choose the simplest method in order to finish the loop. Apparently corpses count as humans, or something that can use the item. We haven’t seen any other species or entity use SCP-Blank, but maybe that’s because we haven’t facilitated that. We could potentially test whether or not a corpse could finish a loop, or if a non-human entity could complete a loop. | ||||
| D-7613 with D-1921 as the target | D-1921 died due to a headshot going through his left eye, completely destroying his brain. D-1921 was then moved to Site-15, approximately [REDACTED] kilometers away. D-7613 was stationed in a locked room with 2 guards as surveillance for the next 72 hours. SCP-Blank was given to one of the security personnel in order to facilitate the end of the event | 2 hours before the endpoint of the loop, D-1921 began moving towards D-7613's location. Subject was reportedly seen flying through the air, as if launched or pulled by some greater force. Once it had exited the building, the subject used foundation transport in order to arrive at the location. None of the people on that transport remember seeing the body moving. 1 hour before the event, guards located and identified D-1921 and were told to allow it into the building to complete the loop. D-7613 fired the weapon accordingly. | No Additional Notes | ||||
| SCP-163 | 3 Bullet holes appeared in the testing chamber in standard fashion in a close spread. | SCP-163 was brought into the testing chamber and handed SCP Blank with the safety turned on. Researcher REDACTED used a similar Glock 19 to teach SCP-163 how to use SCP Blank, including firing blanks to show them what would happen after firing it. SCP-163 expressed distress over the loud noise, but complied. Safety was turned off by Researcher REDACTED. SCP-163 used SCP Blank and fired it successfully. After firing it, SCP-163 expressed that he wished to return to his containment cell and showed the correct signal asking to leave the testing chamber. SCP-163 was escorted without incident. SCP-163 was rewarded with extra canvases and painting supplies for compliance in testing. He also was allowed to pick a board game to play with one of the personnel assigned to it for an extended period of time. | So it isn’t just humans who can use SCP-Blank. I’m also impressed with SCP-163’s compliance, although he appears to express discomfort around those types of firearms. The only limitations on SCP Blank appear to be that the SCP Blank-A are able to handle a firearm and were living at the beginning of the loop. | ||||
| Assistant Researcher Dan | Before the loop was planned to start, 4 Scranton Reality Anchors were placed in the testing chamber. 3 bullet holes appeared in the test chamber in a close spread. | The 4 Scranton Reality Anchors were kept in the testing room throughout the entire period of the loop. On the day of the loop, Researcher REDACTED stood 2 meters away from SCP Blank, which was placed on a small pedestal. SCP Blank then gained magnetic properties, becoming a south pole while Assistant Researcher Dans right arm became a north pole. SCP Blank was then attracted to his hand, after which he fired the gun willingly in order to prevent further collateral. The Scranton Reality Anchor didn’t detect nor attempt to correct any form of reality bending. Assistant Researcher Dans retained these magnetic properties over the next few hours, before slowly returning back to normal. Future tests have shown that no magnetic properties have been retained. SCP-Blank returned to a non-magnetic state immediately after being fired. | So Scranton Reality Anchors don’t work. That’s problematic for long term containment, as that means we can’t protect from loops occurring at random. I wouldn’t say that this thing is more powerful at reality bending than an SRA can deal with, but I think it works in a different way than what the SRA’s can deal with. Now we just need to figure out what makes its form of reality bending unique enough to work around Scranton Reality Anchors. The magnetism is bizarre, but after reviewing the test, it makes sense as the simplest solution to the loop. It is consistent with other methods used to finish the loop, and doesn’t seem like it specifically occurred due to the SRAs. It’s likely that if there were other variables placed in the room, the outcome would have ended differently to work around them. |
