Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept inside of a locked metal container, that measures approximately 12" by 4" by 6", stored deep in Site-19's safe class storage stored in a small room near the surface of Site-19 that only has a 2" aluminum ceiling between SCP-XXXX and the outside air. Only personnel with level 2 clearance or higher are allowed access to this box. Should SCP-XXXX be found in its active state, it is to be turned off before being put back into its metal box.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a multipurpose lighter that measures approximately 10" in length. When the trigger is pressed on SCP-XXXX it consistently stays in the pressed state as if it is jammed. SCP-XXXX lets out an unending supply of gas until the container it's held in, whether it be a small room or the entire outside world, is filled completely with its gas. Once the container it is within is filled with the gas it releases, the container will heat to its melting point and ignite the gas inside. This heating process usually takes around ten seconds to complete. Most materials tested with SCP-XXXX have been melted by this process except for a set few materials (see the testing logs). The gas ignites in a flame hot enough to theoretically melt the material containing said gas. Before the container is filled, the gas is unable to be lit and doesn't have any other unusual properties so far known.
Addendum: Following the recent incident (see incident log 19-TBD-1) on ██/██/20██, SCP-XXXX has been moved to a room close to the surface to avoid further damage in case of containment breach.
Test Log:
Test-XXXX-1
SCP-XXXX is placed inside of a plastic container in its active state by D-10385 and then closed. After approximately 20 seconds the container began heating up until it fully melted. At this point D-10385 was ordered to turn off SCP-XXXX and the experiment was concluded.
Test-XXXX-2
SCP-XXXX is placed inside of a iron box in its active state by D-10385. After being securely shut, about 20 seconds once again passed and the iron box proceeded to completely melt. D-10385 was told to turn off SCP-XXXX and did so, but D-10385 suffered 3rd degree burns from the molten iron.
Test-XXXX-3
Instead of the original plan to put SCP-XXXX inside of a live human, Dr. ██████ instead advised to simply put in inside some hollowed out meat. After doing so while SCP-XXXX was in its active state, the meat [REDACTED].
Test-XXXX-4
SCP-XXXX is placed inside of a tungsten box lined with diamonds inside of it. Before the box is closed, D-11496 puts SCP-XXXX into its active state and immediately closes the box. After approximately thirty minutes, the box was still intact and D-11496 was told to open the box. With the thermal cameras stationed in the testing chamber, it appeared that the inside of the box was hot, but not hot enough to melt nor give flesh and sort of burn. D-11496 reported the faint smell of the gas that SCP-XXXX emits and proceeded to turn SCP-XXXX off.
Incident Log 19-XXXX-1:
After an electrical issue in the D-class containment area, numerous D-class personnel escaped their cells and managed to break into Site-19's safe class storage. SCP-XXXX was activated by one of the D-class personnel who most likely did not understand the properties of SCP-XXXX. After all of the D-class were terminated or contained, none of the on-site personnel noticed that SCP-XXXX was in its activated state. Upon closing the room that SCP-XXXX was contained in, it filled the room with its gas and proceeded to melt through each layer of wall in Site-19's safe class storage. Using protective equipment one of the major scientists assisting in the recontainment of any escaped SCPs, managed to disable SCP-XXXX before it caused too much damage. An estimated ██ personnel were injured or killed due to SCP-XXXX melting through the safe class storage.
