SCP-4580 prior to containment

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-4580 is to be held in a chamber no less than 20 m x 20 m x 15 m. One security camera is to be installed in the north-eastern corner, which is to be monitored 24/7. Any extensive growth in wood is to be reported to the Site Commander, (Currently Euan ███████). When in SCP-4580s containment, personnel must not be in 10 metres range to SCP-4580 for longer than 35 minutes. It is recommended that 3 or more personnel enter containment at a time in case of emergency. However, this is not rule.

2+ flamethrowers are to be present outside SCP-4580s containment at all time. All guards currently stationed at SCP-4580s chamber are to be trained in handling a standard issue flamethrower. SCP-4580 is to have a secondary containment room which is to be 12 m x 12 m x 12 m. It is to be moved there when SCP-4580s original containment is being burnt. SCP-4580 is to stay in the secondary containment room for no longer than 1 week. If SCP-4580 is reported to be in the secondary containment room for longer than 1 week, Site Commander is to be alerted immediately.

On a bi-monthly basis SCP-4580 is to be moved to secondary containment and 2+ personnel are to be instructed to torch and clear the original containment of wood with the aforementioned flamethrowers. Containment is to be washed immediately after.

SCP-4580 is never to be near a natural environment or animal SCP's ever.

Description:
SCP-4580 is animate wooden deer that resembles a Fallow Deer. SCP-4580 is made from wood and seems to act like a normal native Deer, however more docile. Wherever SCP-4580 stands wood will ‘grow’ from its surroundings, first starting at the feet of SCP-4580. Wood grown by SCP-4580 is dubbed SCP-4580-1. SCP-4580-1 seems to ‘grow’ at a rate of 1 metre per day. Growth is slowed considerably if SCP-4580 is surrounded by natural materials, up to 2x slowed, (See Addendum-1). No explanation has come forth. SCP-4580 is capable of making vocalisations consistent with non-anomalous deer.

SCP-4580 was found in ██████, UK. An abnormally wooden house with all wooden appliances, walls, floors and furniture was reported to ███ ████ and had an MTF team of 10 examine the location. The team found 2 wooden adults, one female, one male in the living room. One wooden infant was found in the kitchen. All were statue-like. SCP-4580 was found in the dining room and was taken in shortly after. SCP-4580-1 has proven to be especially durable to physical attacks but is extremely vulnerable to fire. If exposed to heat 500 degrees+ SCP-4580-1 will disappear from the surface it is currently on when exposed to such temperatures. SCP-4580-1 will grow onto live subjects at a slower pace than normal. (See Addendum-2)

A biopsy was voted on by O5 council on ██/██/2018 but was rejected. SCP-4580 has not been observed as hostile has been observed as aggressive, however rarely. All personnel must take caution when near SCP-4580. In event on a containment breach, SCP-4580 will seem not to take notice, but will eventually make its way out of its chamber. SCP-4580 has never been observed physically attempting a containment breach. (See Addendum-3).

Addendum-1:

Over a 10-day period, SCP-4580-1 was observed to grow 10 metres in relation to SCP-4580. Following this, SCP-4580-1 capped out at this distance relative to SCP-4580. SCP-4580 was moved to a 20 m x 20 m x 15 m containment facility accordingly. SCP-4580 was put near a processed salad for 1 day. The salad was observed of turning into wood consistent with growth speeds of unnatural materials. SCP-4580 was then put next to a head of lettuce for 1 day. The head of lettuce showed no signs of being made from wood when examined after. However, the area surrounding the head of lettuce and SCP-4580 was made from SCP-4580-1.

Researchers concluded that to be immune to SCP-4580-1 item must be completely natural with no changes from original. However, human life is considered to be exempt from this rule. (See Addendum-2 for more details).

Addendum-2:

On ██/██/2018, 3 D-class personnel were instructed to sleep and live next to SCP-4580 for 3 days. On the first morning, 2/3 personnel were stuck to the floor as their backs had been ‘cemented’ by wood. The other was unaffected. On the second morning, the 2 stuck D-class showed no signs of life, as their body was covered entirely in wood. The other had their toes stuck to the floor. The experiment was concluded the next day. D-Class 2223 and D-Class 5511 were KIA. D-Class 1998 was unharmed. Autopsy revealed the insides of the KIA D-class to be completely covered in wood.

Addendum-3:

On ██/██/2018, SCP-4580s containment door was opened and could not be closed. SCP-4580 was observed to take no immediate action and wondered out approximately 2 hours after the event. SCP-4580 continued turning 225 metres of hallway into wood. SCP-4580 encountered no other SCPs.

Note 1:

Scp-4580 cannot turn air into wood.

The 42 day experiment

For 42 days, SCP-4580 was released in a controlled environment in Cornwall, England. SCP-4580 was monitored to observe behaviour in a natural environment. All of below was transcribed from Dr. Woodway's journal.

Day 1: I recently arrived in Cornwall after a 15 hour plane trip. All I could think about is SCP-4580. I have never seen, or observed SCP-4580 before, so this was a new experience. They gave me this diary to document SCP-4580 but I'm going to use to for venting a little bit. However, SCP-4580 is the main character of this show. I am stationed in a wooden watchtower overlooking 23 acres of forest. Little wildlife is present other than SCP-4580. SCP-4580 was transported in a number of different ways. First ship, aircraft, helicopter and then car. SCP-4580 was placed 6 km's away from the watchtower. There is 1000+ video cameras to help document SCP-4580.
.
Day 2: SCP-4580 has been looking especially weary of its new environment. It has not encountered any other wildlife yet. Today I also spent some time catching up with the characteristics of SCP-4580. Now I can say I am an expert at SCP-4580 knowledge. SCP-4580 spent most of its day wondering around its new habitat. At 9:13 pm, SCP-4580 began to sleep under a cave in quadrant A-7. SCP-4580 did not wake throughout the night. Even though SCP-4580 is made of wood, it does seem to need sleep but not food. I can't think why yet. Surely by the end of this SCP-4580 will have revealed its true nature to me, and the foundation.
.
Day 3: SCP-4580 has know become accustomed to its new way of life. SCP-4580 was observed rubbing against trees and any wooded material. This is likely because of SCP-4580 relation to wood as a whole. Nothing unusual or unprecedented was observed.
.
Day 4: As SCP-4580 becomes more and more 'average', it seems to become more boring. SCP-4580 has shown no new characteristics of behaviours. How am I going to last 42 days?
.
Day 5-7: I decided to bunch these days together as nothing exciting or new happened. SCP-4580 usually spends its day wondering around its habitat. It was observed to rest for 2 hours, between 2 pm and 4 pm.
.
Day 8: I was recently told off by the lead researcher not to bunch days together. I will take this in mind. Writing does make the day go quicker. SCP-4580 did what is considered usual for it today. SCP-4580 was observed running 52km/h across quadrant A-8 to quadrant C-12. SCP-4580 has unusually high stamina and then was observed running across C-12 to E-1 6 minutes after the previous run.
.
Day 9: The first major anomaly has been observed. Wildlife, (especially bushes), seem to move out the way for SCP-4580 even when the wind speed is low. There seems to be a connection to SCP-4580 and the rest of the observed environment. Perhaps SCP-4580 creates a link between the forest and itself. Other from this, nothing new was observed from SCP-4580.
.
Day 10: SCP-4580 encountered its first native wildlife today. It was observed walking across a clearing in the trees when SCP-4580 came across a squirrel. The squirrel did not run but stood in its place. SCP-4580 approached the squirrel and was observed to show a sniffing notion. This implied that SCP-4580 is capable of smell. This also furthered my hypothesis on SCP-4580 being connected to the forest. SCP-4580 went to sleep at a much later time, 11 pm. SCP-4580 had no reason to begin sleeping at this time. SCP-4580 woke up at the usual time in the morning. (7 am).
.
Day 11: SCP-4580 again began sleeping at 11 pm. SCP-4580's athletic abilities were not changed even though the late sleeping time. SCP-4580 also did not seem tired when it woke up. SCP-4580 spent most of the day near an opening in the forest. Theres just 31 more days. I can do this. At least its better than office work. That's not interesting.
.
Day 12: SCP-4580 began sleeping at usual times again. Nothing else to be noted.
.
Day 13: SCP-4580 went from quadrant E-10 to Quadrant A-14. As of right now, there is no form-able reason for this migration.
.
Day 14: SCP-4580 encountered a herd of 5 deer today at 1:06 pm. SCP-4580 was easily welcomed as on of the herd and led the other 5 deer across 2 quadrants. SCP-4580 now seems the leader of the herd even though the previous deer have never met or seen SCP-4580 before. SCP-4580 was also observed scaring of a lone fox. The fox posed no harm and was scared away quickly.
.
Day 15: SCP-4580 slept with the herd over the night, showing even more signs of being included. The herd (including SCP-4580) went foraging for food, even though SCP-4580 does not need it. The herd found sufficient food. I also noticed that one of the deer seemed to be pregnant.
.
Day 16: 2 new deer joined the herd. From the presence of SCP-4580, new deer seems to just be welcomed into the herd with no questions asked. This might be because of the forest connection theory. Or, SCP-4580 is just really charming.
.
Day 17: SCP-4580 and the rest of the herd seem to be staying in quadrant A-9. All day, they did not leave this. They might have set this up as there home.
.
Day 18: SCP-4580 is likely to encounter confrontation in the coming days. 2 men which seem to be hunters are on the outskirts of the controlled environment. I was going to tell the guards to stop them but I thought this will be interesting. Other than that, SCP-4580 till stayed in the same quadrant.
.
Day 19: SCP-4580 has grown bigger antlers since being placed here. Possibly, SCP-4580 has become the dominant alpha male of the habitat. The 2 hunters are setting up camp outside the environment. It will probably be a few days before they make their move. When SCP-4580 eventually encounters them, I don't know what will happen.
.
Day 20: The pregnant doe gave birth today. SCP-4580 payed almost no attention. At approximately 6:22 pm, the herd went away leaving SCP-4580 behind. Again, SCP-4580 showed little notice.
.
Day 21: I would have said that the half way point is today but this is now the final day. SCP-4580 is to be secured as soon as possible. In the early morning, the two hunters entered the area. They spent 2 hours walking and eventually coming across SCP-4580. SCP-4580 did what I would never expect. SCP-4580 made sharp spikes from SCP-4580-1. SCP-4580 proceeded to impale the two hunters. I reported to the guards straight after. I am getting airlifted shortly.
.
Day 22: SCP-4580 did not attack the retrieval MTF team. All things should go well from now on. I hope.

Addendum 4:

As of order of the O5 council, SCP-4580 is now to be classified to Keter. The Keter classification is to be only know to personnel level 4+. SCP-4580 is suspected to be able to exponentially increase SCP-4580-1 growth when in a natural area for an extended amount of time. This is the only event when SCP-4580 has been seen as hostile. If SCP-4580 is ever able to establish a link with its surrounding habitat, immediate action is to be taken. SCP-4580 is thought to be able to increase its growth speed of SCP-4580-1 the longer near nature/natural materials. If left near nature for an extraordinary amount of time, many lives could be lost.
