SCP: Unknown aquatic entity #42020

This SCP is a squid or species squid closely resembling that of a Magnapinna pacifica (Bigfin squid). To this date only 2 sightings of the SCP have ever been recorded leaving most of the information of it unavailable.

One of the only known anomalous properties of this SCP is its inability to be found using mapping devices. Any tracking devices placed on the SCP will immediately be disabled via unknown means. It is currently being tested whether sonar can track the SCP.

The other anomalous effect known is that any crustacean within a 73 m radius of the SCP will begin to move towards the SCP, the crustacean will than disappear from the area. This is theorized to be how the SCP eats. This is the only known way to indicate if the SCP is present in the area.

The first sighting of the SCP was on ██████ beach on 4/█/2007. At first the SCP was thought to be a regular Magnapinna pacifica and due to the animals rarity multiple aquatic scientist went to the area to study it. The SCP was recorded to be 158 m away from the shore and was seen sitting motionless
for 14 hours. Individuals also recorded a number of crabs, lobster, and shrimp around the entity, additionally when subjects attempted to digitally map out the size of the entity they reported that they were unable to. The SCP left the area after a diver tried to interact with it. A day later crab, lobster, and shrimp populations in the area dropped by 85%.
