An SCP-5129 instance spotted near ███
Item #: SCP-5129
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5129 instances are to be contained in 3.1 meter square padded cells with a single vent installed in the top of the container to maintain airflow. A hidden camera will be placed directly above the entrance to the cell to monitor the movement of SCP-5129. If the camera is destroyed, personnel should not attempt to replace it.
The entity's appendages are to be shackled together and chained to the interior of the cell. If any significant damage is observed to the chains, grade 3 anesthetic gas will be filtered into the containment chamber and armed personnel will replace them. Instances have not been observed to require food or water, nor a sleep cycle.
Entry to cells containing SCP-5129 is forbidden without O5 clearance. Mobile Task Force unit Psi-8 ("The Silencers") is designated to be dispatched to any reports of possible SCP-5129 sightings or attacks.
Description: SCP-5129 instances resemble humanoids with asymmetrical white masks depicting a grinning face. Research has revealed the mask's uncanny resemblance to the "troll face", a piece of pop culture art that became popular on the internet in 2008 AD. An investigation is being performed on the origins of the art, which is pending classification as SCP-5129-2. The "troll face" has been deemed to have no anomalous properties and will not receive SCP classification. The skin of SCP-5129 varies between specimens, but is consistently grey with a coarse texture similar to sandpaper. Its right index finger can be up to seven centimeters longer than its left one, ending in a sharp point.
Specimens have been reported to vary in build, but are all similar in development to a teenaged human. They are commonly wearing crude clothing made of an unknown material similar to the skin of a male bos taurus. Faintly glowing red glyphs are present on the chests, arms, or necks of all known instances. These glyphs have no know meaning or correspondence.
SCP-5129 exhibits excellent eyesight and a delayed reaction to physical stimulus. It does not react to sound or smell. An autopsy on a terminated SCP-5129 instance revealed that its organs were in the mid to late stages of decomposition. Specimens have been observed to wander forests in rural parts of ███ carrying weapons such as clubs, knives, and axes.
When SCP-5129 gains visual of a human, it will sprint at speeds of up to 24 kilometers per hour until it reaches the target. Specimens have been reported to run for over 13 hours without ceasing. Upon contact, it will attack with its weapon or its fingernails, exhibiting subpar coordination and efficiency attacking the victim. Once the victim is deceased, SCP-5129 uses its right index finger to etch glyphs similar to the ones marking its own body onto the cadaver, now designated SCP-5129-1. Over the course of approximately 72 hours, the corpse's skin will take on the appearance of SCP-5129, and its skull will reform into a mask, ending in reanimation as another SCP-5129 instance.
Addendum 5129-01: An instance of SCP-5129 was sedated and transported to a secure testing chamber located at Site-██, along with a single D-class subject. Doctor Murphy and Doctor ████ supervised the test using camera equipment. SCP-5129 cornered the subject and proceeded to spend sixteen minutes grappling it and using its fingernails to attack its throat until death. SCP-5129 used its twelve centimeter index finger to create an instance of SCP-5129-1. SCP-5129 circled SCP-5129-1 for the entire duration of its "development" period. Once SCP-5129-1 reanimated, neither specimen demonstrated any recognition of the other. After 18 hours, an SCP-5129 specimen located the camera and became noticeably agitated. Both specimens were sedated and returned to Site-███. Containment procedures revised.
