An adult female in captivity.
Item #: SCP-4154
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4154 instances are to be kept in a 5x5x5 meter airtight steel cube with no interaction from site personnel.
Description: SCP-4154 is a group of species from the Paratropis tuxtlensis family of arachnids. SCP-4154 instances have developed and evolved over an extended period of time in captivity of the Foundation and other groups. SCP-4154 has many anomalous traits, including an acidic venom of unknown compounds and exaggerated abilities. These include increased movement speed, increased jumping power despite muscles in the limbs not supporting moving at increased speeds, and an atypical aggressive behavior not consistent with most arachnids.
Unlike typical arachnid behavior when threatened, SCP-4154 instances actively seek out humans. SCP-4154 does not assume a defensive stance when threatened, and the silk SCP-4154 produces is not used to capture prey in the typical sense but is coated in hydrofluoric acid and the silks’ molecular structure shows long barbs used for tearing into the skins of victims.
When bitten with SCP-4154’s fangs, the victim (hereby referred to as SCP-4154-1) will go into anaphylactic shock and the acidic venom produced by glands under the most prominent eyes will begin to disintegrate all tissue and bone from SCP-4154-1. There is no known cure for SCP-4154’s bite.
Unlike normal Paratropis tuxtlensis arachnids, the size of SCP-4154 instances vary from 0.435 meters to 1.257 meters long. Weight may vary, but usually is around 160 kg (552 lb).
Addendum: SCP-4154 instances were recovered when a security breach in a zoo in Brazil. Multiple staff members and field agents were bitten in the process of capture of ██ SCP-4154 instances.
