Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored a minimum of ten meters from any clock or time keeping device in storage container 66-C on Site 19 under camera surveillance with two guard personnel on duty at all times. SCP-XXXX-1 shall be stored in research cell 132-A. Any researchers retrieving SCP-XXXX from containment are to be accompanied by no fewer than two armed guards for the duration of testing. A full listing of research tasks, and timetables must be provided to all guard personnel on duty. Additionally, these documents as well as identical experimental control materials must be provided to control personnel; any deviation from this list will result in termination of testing, forcible removal of personnel from 132-A, and formal discipline at site command's discretion.
With exception of Procedure FAILSAFE-091 any attempt to use SCP-XXXX outside of an approved test will be dealt with severely, up to and including termination.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a pair of 1700's era clock hands capable of producing limited time reversal events. SCP-XXXX-1 is an antique grandfather clock originally misclassified in its entirety as SCP-XXXX. See testing document SCP-XXXX-T1 for details regarding reclassification.

+ Extraneous Details

SCP-XXXX's "minute" hand measures 7.62 centimeters, while SCP-XXXX's "hour" hand measures 6.35 centimeters. Both hands are darkish amber in color and composed of tarnished brass.

SCP-XXXX-1 has a brass clock face flanked by brass filigree spandrels with seraphim and cherubs ornamentation. The face is 30.48 cm wide and 40.64 cm tall with Roman numeration. A nameplate engraved with ████████ █████████ is mounted internally and inferior to the clock face. Internal clockworks contain gears, pendulum, brass/lead weight, wooden weight spools, and a hinged door. Internal clockworks are composed of brass unless otherwise noted.

When placed on the face of a clock and rotated counter-clockwise, SCP-XXXX creates a temporal anomaly imperceptible to observers. Upon cessation of rotation, SCP-XXXX reverses time an amount consistent with counter-clockwise rotation of the hands. The following limitations apply to SCP-XXXX's anomalous behavior:

1. SCP-XXXX cannot exceed a reversal of time past the exact moment it was placed on the face of SCP-XXXX-1.
2. Only subjects in direct contact with SCP-XXXX or SCP-XXXX-1 during a rotation event retain any knowledge of post-rotation events.
3. Only direct organic rotation of SCP-XXXX can produce an anomalous event. All attempts at mechanical and automated means of reversal have been unsuccessful.
4. Skin to metal contact must be made; The following have been confirmed sufficient barriers to nullify anomalous behaviors in SCP-XXXX:

• Latex
• Nitrile
• Cotton and other natural fibers
• Polyester and other manufactured fibers
• Leather

Document #: SCP-XXXX-T1 – Initial Testing and Object History
The clockwork and woodwork of SCP-XXXX-1 appear to be works originating from █████████ and █████████ in ████████, New Jersey.
Chain of custody of this clock has been traced to the following civilians:
Nathaniel ████████ - Deceased (natural causes)
Benjamin ████████ - Deceased (natural causes)
██████ ████████ - Administered class C amnestics.

A near identical clock has been spotted in a 1776 painting depicting the ███████ █████████████████████████, title and author unknown. An additional nearly identical clock is found in a depiction of Napoleon Bonaparte in the painting “In His Study 1812” by artist ████████ ████████. It his hypothesized previous world leaders may have had knowledge of this SCP and used it as a tool of war. This hypothesis is currently being evaluated by Foundation historians with a strong focus on eliminating confirmation bias.

Testing has determined that SCP-XXXX-1 is not a necessary component to activate SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects. An ordinary modern grandfather clock (also housed in container 66-C and designated SCP-XXXX-2) has been used to effectively recreate experiments from SCP-XXXX-1 when either clock hand is replaced by SCP-XXXX. Only the replaced hand exhibits anomalous effects.

Incident # I.546.A

On ██/█/████ SCP-XXXX and XXXX-1 were brought to a recording of the American television program "Antiques Roadshow". During filming, Field Agent Dana Wallace¹ noticed anomalous behavior when several cast members began arguing with the clock owner. Cast members joked that the owner must be "developing Ald-heimers [sic]". When more crew members could not recall events, the owner remarked "Maybe I'm the one going crazy".

Mobile Task Force Gamma-5 was dispatched to the scene at the Agent's request. Current tape footage, SCP-XXXX and XXXX-1 were collected from the area. The cast and crew were administered class A amnestics, while the current owner of SCP-XXXX and XXXX-1 was administered class C amnestics and placed under surveillance by foundation personnel.

RESEARCHER: “Events occurred at 13:41, 13:46, 13:52, and 13:53. Standing by.”

CONTROL: “Researcher ██████, current control time is 13:39, please verify synchronization.”

RESEARCHER: “Synch verified. Current experimentation clocks, SCP-XXXX included verify 13:39 Zulu time. Final reversal of time via SCP-XXXX conducted at 13:55 for experiment block SCP-XXXX-T2.40 through to 2.60 was successful. Notation will reflect Control retains no mental or physical manifestation of events prior to activation of SCP-XXXX-T2.58 reversal.”

CONTROL: “Confirm that is an expected effect per experimentation notes. Researcher██████, please allow surveillance cameras a full and unobstructed view of your experiment notes. *The Researcher shows his notes to the camera, which are meticulously written across her own skin.* Thank you, and

RESEARHER: “The following are the notes of researcher ██████ for SCP-XXXX experiment T2.40: Experiment start: 13:39 Zulu, Total time elapsed: 7 minutes, Experiment End Time: 13:39. This process was repeated in one minute intervals for experiments 2.40 through 2.49 no differences were observed between experiments apart from elapsed time. Experiments 2.50-2.59 results were as follows:

T2.50: An ordinary penny placed face up was flipped to tails, SCP-XXXX activation resulted in coin being reverted to coin face displayed. All present and Control state coin was never flipped.

T2.51: A block tower was placed on experimentation table, block tower was knocked over. SCP-XXXX activation results in tower re-constructed. All present state tower was never toppled.

T2.52: Experiments 2.50 repeated with a second researcher making contact with SCP-XXXX, both researchers verify event and reversal of event.

T2.54: Control is told to “Fuck off” by researcher. An emotional outburst is provoked before activation of SCP-XXXX. Following activation the event is not recalled by Control and a baseline emotional state is reported.

T2.55: A common house plant Aloe barbadensis is snapped in three places of varying lengths. Following activation of SCP-XXXX no damage appears present.

T2.56: A standard lab rat Rattus norvegicus is shot with a Beretta 9mm handgun. Specimen is nearly obliterated from the force and is obviously deceased. Activation of SCP-XXXX shows the return of the rat with no noted abnormal behaviors or emotional responses. It is noted the bullet expended from the handgun has returned to the magazine.

RESEARCHER: D-6722 is brought in for the final three tests involving human experimentation.

T2.57: D-6722 is restrained by two guard personnel, the Beretta is fired into the shoulder of D-6722. The bullet travels through the subjects shoulder and through the arm of the guard assigned to D-6722’s right side. SCP-XXXX is activated and all effects of weapon discharge are reversed.

T2.58: D-6722 is explained the properties of SCP-XXXX, D-6722 is then shot in the shoulder and instructed to activate SCP while Researcher ██████ maintains direct contact with SCP-XXXX. Following time reversal D-6722 continues to bleed and begins a second violent outburst. This experiment is noted for its paradoxical outcome, the bullet is removed and returned to the gun but D-6722’s injury is not healed. Ethics committee approval sought before continuance of similar testing.

T2.59: D-6722 is terminated. Activation of SCP-XXXX results in complete return of life, consciousness and temperament. D-6722 is subdued, sedated, and transported to the infirmary to treat wounds following experiment 2.58.

+ Procedure FAILSAFE-091 -- LEVEL 4 ACCESS ONLY

During testing of any SCP that may result in an XK Class End of the World Scenario SCP-XXXX may be used as a failsafe to reverse immediate "world-ending" effects of experiments. This procedure must be authorized in advance of experimentation and requires the approval of at least three O5 personnel.

An open constant communication channel is to be opened and maintained throughout testing procedures. While video telecommunication is preferred, in dire circumstances audio-only communication may be permitted. SCP-XXXX is to be fitted onto SCP-4001 at a minimum of 1 hour before testing commences. During such time SCP-XXXX is being used for Procedure FAILSAFE-091 the object will be reclassified as THAUMIEL and security protocols are to be enacted accordingly. Unless absolutely impossible Procedure-FAILSAFE-091 is to be personally overseen by the Site Director. In the event this is not possible a minimum of two Level 4 personnel must be present.
