The Gate To Heaven
rating: 0+x

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid/Thaumiel (impending review)

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX shall remain in corridor C-███ in sector ███ (which from now on shall be referred to as SCP-XXXX-1) it was created in and is a part of. Under no circumstances should SCP-XXXX-1 be entered, nor the security field or internal structure of the gate to be interacted with outside of testing.

Containment area is to be fully guarded via isolating it using the corridors either end of SCP-XXXX-1, designated corridors C-███ and C-███, with four level-04 security personnel situated in both containment corridors. The closest security office designated SO-███ has been re-purposed for constant surveillance and containment. The ventilation and electrical systems surrounding SCP-XXXX have been deactivated and cut off from the main grid, with SO-███ controlling both independently from the rest of the facility using [DATA EXPUNGED].

Any instances of SCP-XXXX-2 outside of testing must be detained before they self-terminate and must be put under 24 hour surveillance and be put forward for psychiatric review.

Description: SCP-XXXX-1 is 3.7 meters tall and and 2.3 meters wide in accordance with facility regulations, with SCP-XXXX being a gateway that has an opening 3.2 meters high and 1.8 meters wide. SCP-XXXX resembles the electrified security gates around the facility that use [DATA EXPUNGED] to create an electrified barrier that destroys most but not all (see Security Gate Test Files A14-A97) organic matter that passes through it, only to be activated during level 04 or greater containment breaches, which could be deactivated using security cards of level ██ or higher.

SCP-XXXX can operate without being connected to an apparent energy source, and there is no part of the object's original design that could facilitate electricity production. SCP-XXXX's motherboard cannot be seen using infrared or x-ray imaging, and cannot be accessed manually as the protective casing around the critical electrical components cannot be opened, the screws holding the protective case on having fused to the metal somewhere within, with the material itself being immeasurably stronger than its original design.

SCP-XXXX exhibits a low-level intelligence, able to "trick" people into thinking it is fully deactivated (See Appendix A)

SCP-XXXX appears to have a psychological effect on anyone who witnesses it activate. Those affected are classified as instances of SCP-XXXX-2 and exhibit homicidal and suicidal tendencies, attempting to send any nearby individuals into SCP-XXXX, living or dead, before entering it themselves. They also demonstrate a religious-like worship of the gate, calling it "The Gate To Heaven". (See Appendix B)

Chronological History

██/██/19██: SCP-XXXX is installed along with ███ other security gates facility wide, following the containment breach of SCP-████

18/07/20██: SCP-XXXX detects a fault within its motherboard, automatically cutting off power to itself to prevent damage. Maintenance team searches for the fault. None can be found. After regulation testing SCP-XXXX is reactivated without any apparent problems.

30/07/20██: SCP-XXXX shut off again due to a detected fault within the █████ resonator. Maintenance team inspects the gate, concludes there to be no fault, gate reactivated without any apparent problems.

Process continues over 218 days, a fault event occurring every 8-13 days, each time to a different component, totalling 20 total faults. After the final fault, 117 days of regular performance.

29/06/20██: (Video log from facility security system.) Patrol Team ██, a patrol of four, who shall be referred to as CAS01 through CAS04, are passing through SCP-XXXX-1 in square formation. SCP-XXXX activates without prompt and kills CAS01 and CAS02. CAS04 yells an expletive and activates their radio to report the event. 7 seconds into the report, CAS04 is shot and killed by CAS03, who has become an instance of SCP-XXXX-2, who picks up CAS04's corpse and throws them into the gate, before walking into it themselves.

Video footage of the event is viewed upon dispatch request and SCP-XXXX-1 is locked down.

01/07/20██: SCP-XXXX is classified as such after three days of review, during which it is discovered that it can still operate without being connected to the grid, and with two additional instances of SCP-XXXX-2.

Note: The propagation of faults in SCP-XXXX's hardware and software acted like a spreading disease, not targeting critical components first after the Motherboard, such as the ████████ system, but instead spreading to adjacent components.

Though not proven, it has been theorised that SCP-XXXX was modified by SCP-079, as both exhibit artificial intelligence, abilities far beyond their own hardware, and the date of the first fault arising was five days after the attempted [DATA EXPUNGED] of SCP-079. SCP-079 refuses knowing about SCP-XXXX, however SCP-XXXX has been permanently stored in its memory since the question was asked.
