Item #: SCP-XXXX (A four-dimensional monolith)

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept inside a ten(10) by ten by twenty(20) metre containment unit with an open bottom and constructed out of two(2) layers of tungsten carbide alloy with an insulatory layer in-between. The containment cell is to be checked for faults every year. As SCP-XXXX is immovable, the containment cell is to be disguised as an abandoned wooden church. Spouts connected to tanks filled with Class H and I amnestics1 are to be placed in a one hundred(100) meter circle around the containment cell. XXXX is to be monitored for: movement, change in temperature, humidity, and any changes on XXXX's surface.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a monolith with a base of seven point three(7,3) by eight point one(8,1) metres, and an undetermined height2. It is built out of an unknown, completely unbreakable material with colouration similar to that of obsidian, though it lacks reflectivity. Two(2) parts are covered in a variation of the material, one light green, and the other a light grey.

SCP-XXXX was located in 1997, on a barren forest clearing in [REDACTED] by a MTF squad returning from the recontainment of SCP-████. When found3, it was surrounded by a group of cultists with late Soviet weaponry and speckled white-gray body armor. Upon sighting the MTF, the cultists started firing. The aforementioned cultists were wiped out, and the MTF squad suffered █ casualties. The squad called for an emergency evac, and, when backup arrived, opened fire. The MTF squad in question was eliminated on-site, save for one, who was captured and interrogated. When questioned why they fired upon their support, he started to ramble about a secret he had to keep, which he would not give up, even when undergoing torture. Due to a lapse in security, the subject managed to kill himself by slamming his head on the table, causing skull fractures, and, subsequently, cerebral hemorrhage.

Upon testing, it was discovered that SCP-XXXX is a cognitohazard when viewed directly4, causing the witness to lose most of their memories and feel as if they have a duty to protect SCP-XXXX's "secret", which is currently unknown. Said effect can manifest in simply trying to kill anyone near SCP-XXXX (henceforth known as SCP-XXXX-01), trying to cover it up (SCP-XXXX-02), or, rarely, trying to expose everyone near them to it (SCP-XXXX-03). Further testing revealed XXXX's invulnerability and significant height.

SCP-XXXX is at least ninety-nine million(99000000) years old. This is proven by the light green patch, which consists of a fur imprint and footprint5 confirmed to belong to a member of the species Gobiconodon borissiaki, a mammal of the Gobiconodon genus, and the Gobiconodonta order, which existed from the early Jurassic to the late Cretaceous period.

The grey patch6 consists of two(2) sets of pictograms. The first consists of a monolith (similar to SCP-XXXX) and a picture of the Earth7 surrounded by arrows. The seconds set consists of an identical monolith with a brain inscribed on it8.

Addendum XXXX-01: After experiment XXXX-09, SCP-XXXX's method of causing behavioral shifts and memory loss has been discovered. Whenever a person looks at SCP-XXXX (directly, or through a picture/recording), almost every possible stimuli is communicated to their brain9. Then, all episodic memories are lost due to destruction of certain synapses in the appropriate neural ensemble that make them possible. After that, the neurons in the periaqueductal gray are reprogrammed with the following effects: reproductive behavior is suppressed, defensive behavior becomes purely aggressive, while maternal behavior is altered into an obsessive compulsion to keep every person not under XXXX's effects away from it.
