Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a woodland environment on Site-███ . The enclosure should be ready to be expanded at any point at time, depending on the possible population growth caused by the new health conditions within the foundation. All personnel entering the enclosure are to wear a protective biohazard suit. In the case of SCP-XXXX touching bare skin, the affected personell is to stay put inside of the enclosure. Any other personell on site are to remove the affected personell’s body from the enclosure.
SCP-XXXX does not require special containment, allowing for it to roam its enclosure as to avoid the Euclid’s destruction. When entering the enclosure, check the containment camera to ensure that SCP-XXXX is away from the door. Once any personell are inside, outside personell are to lock the door to avoid possible containment breaches.
In the case of an enclosure expansion, a new enclosure will be made neighboring the original, with a containment wall between the two so that personell can safely work. Once construction is complete, remove the containment wall and allow SCP-XXXX to freely roam the new enclosure.
Monthly cleanings are required for the enclosure. SCP-XXXX is to be moved to a neighboring enclosure until cleaning is done, and they are to be returned immediately after cleaning.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an arthropod of the insect class, found in a suburban area in Virginia, United States, in the town of ████. SCP-XXXX is hardly distinguishable from an ordinary caterpillar. The only way to find where SCP-XXXX resides is the warped environment it leaves behind everywhere it goes. The known habitats for SCP-XXXX have been known to be left with dead vegetation and eradication of all other animal life. Remains of wildlife have been shown to have acidic burns, and their flesh turned to black crystal-like absesses. Vegetation in the area, including grass, bushes, and trees, show similar abscesses. The bark of the plants turn black, and the leaves harden and turn to glass.
SCP-XXXX is green, with short hairs poking out in all directions. SCP-XXXX behaves as other caterpillars do, including metamorphosis. The following butterfly is harmless, losing the lethal touch of its larvae.
Humans affected by SCP-XXXX will have a reaction in the matter of seconds. The skin of the victim gives off massive amounts of heat, until the blood underneath starts boiling. Skin touched by SCP-XXXX turns into the black crystal abscess, which slowly spreads across the body. Crops eaten by humans affected by SCP-XXXX cause indigestion, induce vomiting, dysentery, and eventual death. Upon examination of the bodies left at ████, the digestive track of the victim turns to glass, which causes the black crystals to grow inside of the mouth.

Addendum: As of 3/21/██, not all members of the SCP-XXXX species have been contained. Personell of Site-███ have been dispatched to ████. Personell will examine all crops put out by the region, and all traces of SCP-XXXX will be vigorously investigated.
