Special Containment Procedures: Knowledge of SCP-5555 is strictly classified. Any individual exposed to evidence of its existence is to submit to memory procedure 1333. At all costs, personel with knowledge of SCP-5555 are not to disclose its existence to the general public. Due to the nature of the SCP, extra-ordinary measures have been undertaken in order to mask its appearances as equipment failure in cooperation with Dr. ██████, Dr. ██████, Dr. ██████, Professor ██████, and Professor ██████ in their roles at the ████████, ████████, and ████████ observatories.

SCP-5555 is not well understood. However, significant Foundation effort has been devoted to potential camouflaging and/or masking installations which are currently under construction at site ██████. The effectiveness of these installations is not known, and will depend on the true nature of SCP-5555.

Description: SCP-5555 is an anomalous series of dimming stars which have appeared in the vicinity the Sol system. Its current location is believed to be dark space somewhere in the vicinity of Proxima Centauri. Its root cause is believed to be an organic object with proposed maximum length 56,485 miles +- 213 miles.

Observation 1: SCP-5555 was first observed in 19██ when Professor ██████ noted that Ross 128 had apparently dimmed by as much as 65%, seeming to disappear from the night sky as viewed by the naked eye. The resulting research relating to the "Ross Incident" has since been suppressed.

Spectroscopic Analysis of SCP-5555

While initial speculation related primarily to possible dust clouds, spectographic analysis resulted in several key conclusions:

1. There is a single, massive object which obscured Ross 128 by 50% for the period of 6 months
2. For a smaller period during the previous one, a significant amount of smaller objects further obscured Ross 128 by 15%
3. The object present contains and unusual amount of Oxygen, Carbon, Hydrogen, Calcium, and Nitrogen.

Furthermore, it appears that the spectral lines for Earth-like exoplanet ross 128b have disappeared, indicating that the object is most likely directly in front of or behind the planet, and matching its orbital velocity. Possible explanations for this behavior are few, unless the object is capable of self-propulsion of some kind. While organic molecules are present, speculation relating to the object being an organism is currently unsupported by the data. An organic mass of this size which is also capable of movement is not consistent with the currently understood laws of physics.

8/12/19██:

The object now known "ELMO" (Extremely Large Moving Object) has apparently left the gravity well of Ross 128. We must concede that such a change in velocity cannot be explained if we assume the object does not alter its own course.

Furthermore, while we have confirmed the re-appearance of Ross 128b, spectrographic analysis has indicated a strange change in the composition. Its seems to have been depleted of its former abundances of Oxygen, Carbon, and Iron. The overall mass of Ross 128b has decreased by as much as 8%. Such a depletion is not consistent with an impact.

Overall, due to the disappearence of ELMO, we have concluded that no further study is possible. However, scientists at the ████████ Observatory in ████████ have agreed to monitor systems with confirmed Earth-like Exoplanets for further developments.

Observation 2: During the time between Observation 1 and Observation 2, the Foundation had enacted necessary containment procedures, and coopted Professor ██████ and his research team. During its second appearance, the Foundation was able to gain significantly more information about SCP-5555 due to the relatively brightness of Proxima Centauri.

Due to the relative brightness of the star, as well as higher exposure times on SCP Satellite ████, we were able to observe ELMO (Now "SCP-5555") in much higher resolution than was possible. By scrubbing light pollution, we were able to discern its general shape and diameter.
