STOMATOPOD

Seeking Greenlights: Yes

Page Type: SCP Article

Genre (Optional): Comedy

Page Layout (Optional): SCP article describing an 'alien' artifact with attached logs. The object is initially classified as Safe, then updated to Neutralized.

Elevator Pitch: A stereotypical 'alien' artifact is found. Events transpire that are reminiscent of bad first encounter movies. Foundation employees realize this, at which point all 'alien' element(s) revert to non-anomalous props like rubber suits and painted plywood.

Central Narrative: An alien obelisk is found on the Moon. The composition is unknown and impenetrable, inscribed with glyphs of unknown function. Never mind how the Foundation missed this with a base on the d__n moon and nigh-magical technological prowess. It is revealed that the device is capable of sending a beacon to a warlike alien species. Some researcher develops a mad scientist complex and uses it for this purpose. A task force is sent on a suicide mission to seize the artifact and abort the threat. The task force banters about the ridiculous nature of these events, at which point anomalous activity ceases permanently.

Hook/Attention-Grabber: This is a lighthearted parody of 'this could destroy the world' narratives that writers pin to SCP objects and bad filmwriters and authors ascribe to sci-fi.

Additional Notes: Not entirely sure how to use this draft format, so just to clarify: The main article and logs will be in appropriate formal language as outlined in SCP writing guides.
