SCP- XXXX
 |
| SCP-XXXX post activation state. |
Object class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is stored in a 3x3x4 meter steel vault in Site-██, with one wall substituted with a 3” sheet of glass-clad polycarbonate fitted with a biometric locking system that serves as the entrance to the containment area, as well as access point for security personnel and research staff to observe manifestations of instances of SCP-XXXX-A.
Instances of SCP-XXXX-A are to be kept in standard humanoid containment cell.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a 2x3 meter slab of concrete covered in a series of black discolorations that, through the testing of samples of SCP-XXXX, have been identified to be acrylic paint. Each patch of discoloration is mostly circular, with no one discoloration exceeding more than 5” in diameter, save for the central discoloration on the front of SCP-XXXX. In its dormant form, the central discoloration is instead ovular, measuring 11” through the semi-minor axis, and 2 meters through the semi-major axis.
Upon SCP-XXXX’s activation, the central discoloration will turn from acrylic to a black, viscous liquid comprised of ████-█████████, ███████, ███, [REDACTED], and salt. After several minutes the liquid will solidify into a membrane of the same chemical composition, and over the course of the next 7-9 hours, the interior of the discoloration underneath the membrane will turn from black, to the normal coloration of the rest of the concrete that comprises SCP-XXXX, forming the silhouette of a human being. The silhouette beneath SCP-XXXX’s membrane will began as vague at the start of the activation period, but will slowly take on more specific features as the activation period as underway. The specific features of this silhouette appear to be random, with no two silhouettes observed during SCP-XXXX’s active state appearing the same.
At the end of SCP-XXXX’s active state, the membrane formed over the central discoloration will turn black and then burst, releasing an instance of SCP-XXXX-A.
SCP-XXXX-A will be an adult human between the ages of 22 and 70, with each instance showing similarities to the silhouette that was created during the active state of SCP-XXXX for that instance. Like the silhouettes formed during the active state, each instance of SCP-XXXX-A is random in terms of age, race, sex, and physical attributes, with SCP-XXXX following no noticeable pattern in terms of the creation of instances. Instances of SCP-XXXX-A have shown to be fully cognizant, often displaying surprise, confusion, or anger after manifesting, as well as the ability to communicate in fluent English. While instances of SCP-XXXX-A almost always claim names and identities, not one has been identifiable by any database available to the Foundation.
Interviewed: SCP-XXXX-A-15
Interviewer: Dr. ████
Foreword: [ Dr. Wong was accompanied by two armed security-personnel, Agents ████ and ███. SCP-XXXX-A-15 was restrained for the duration of the interview. ]
<Begin Log █>
Dr. ████: Where do you and the come from come from, A-15?
SCP-XXXX-A-15: I already told you, you bald bit-
[ At that point SCP-XXXX-A-15’s hand was hit with the butt of Agent ███ assault rifle for becoming agitated, with SCP-XXXX-A-15 showing signs of appropriate levels of pain in reaction to the discipline. ]
SCP-XXXX-A-15, through tears: GOD- DAMNIT. I’m- you can’t do this to me, I’m a person! I have rights! I’m a human being! My name is Marvin █████ and-
[ SCP-XXXX-A-15 was then interrupted by further discipline by Agent ███. ]
Dr. ████: But you’re not. No one with that name exists- not with your face, genetic signature, or dental records, anyways. The same goes for all of the other instances. You should’ve learned this by now, A-15, I am not going to waste my time like this. You will answer my questions or I’ll tell Agent ███ to stop being so easy on you. Where do you come from.
SCP-XXXX-A-15: God- I don’t- it’s like I was in a dream. There were so many different things all happening at the same time that I just can’t- remember. I dreamt things that I know are a part of my life, like my office, or my dog- and I know I can’t make those up because I saw people in the dream too, faces! People with faces that I know I had seen before in my life but I just- couldn’t place it. And I know that the faces matter because the mind can’t create faces, even in dreams! Every face in a dream is someone you’ve seen in real life, so I know I had to be awake and alive before my dream to see them or else I wouldn’t be able to dream them! So that means that I AM A HUMAN BE-
[ SCP-XXXX-A-15 was once again disciplined by Agent ███. Dr. ████ waits several seconds before resuming questioning. ]
Dr. ████: Can you describe one of the faces you saw in your ‘dream?’
SCP-XXXX-A-15: There- there was a man- he was f-fat and had a big m-mole on the on the side of his nose.. please.. please, I’m a human being..
[ SCP-XXXX-A-15 remained unresponsive to further questioning, instead growing increasingly agitated before Agents ███ and ████ incapacitated the instance and removed it from the interview area. ]
<End of Log █>
Closing Statement: SCP-XXXX-A-15’s description of the face it claimed to have dreamed matched the same physical attributes of another previous instance of SCP-XXXX-A.
Research Personnel: Dr. Christenson
A log of tests conducted by Dr. Christenson to determine the legitimacy of humanity in instances of SCP-XXXX-A, taking place between 0█ /11/██ and 0█ /21/██.
NOTE: Between the first and third tests, SCP-XXXX-A-1 was the only instance of SCP-XXXX-A in Foundation captivity, as SCP-XXXX had not yet undergone an activation period, and was referred to as SCP-XXXX-A.
Test A-1 - Date 0█ /11/██
SUBJECT: SCP-XXXX-A-1
TEST UNDERSEEN BY: Dr. Christenson
PROCEDURE: To determine if instances of SCP-XXXX-A experience stimuli similarly to human, SCP-XXXX-A-1 was exposed exceedingly hot and cold temperatures.
RESULTS: SCP-XXXX-A-1 responded to the stimuli as a human would, sweating when the temperature was increased, and shivering when the temperature was decreased. As well as physically responding to the stimuli, SCP-XXXX-A-1 emotionally responded, showing extreme agitated and discomfort as the testing went on.
ANALYSIS: Interesting. SCP-XXXX-A reacted to the stimuli we gave it in a perfectly normal manner. Though the chance is low, perhaps it really could be a human. I’ll need to run a few more tests to confirm, as well as have Dr. Abramov run a few of her own for a second opinion.
TEST A-4 - DATE 0█ /13/██
SUBJECT: SCP-XXXX-A-1
TEST UNDERSEEN BY: Dr. Christenson
PROCEDURE: SCP-XXXX-A-1 was released from its restraints and told to defend itself against D-XXXX, who was armed with a knife and instructed to mimic attacks towards SCP-XXXX-A-1 in order to provoke a defense.
RESULTS: Though unarmed, SCP-XXXX-A-1 still attempted to defend itself against D-XXXX, and did not display any noticeable anomalies for the duration of the test. However, before completion, D-XXXX accidentally struck SCP-XXXX-A-1 in the shoulder with his weapon, drawing blood. SCP-XXXX-A-1 exhibited signs of extreme anger and fear throughout the duration of the test, as well as reacting in pain to the strike. Samples of the blood from SCP-XXXX-A-1’s wound were taking for testing. D-XXXX was terminated for the error.
ANALYSIS: SCP-XXXX has produced another instance of SCP-XXXX-A! In accordance, I’ve decided to ramp up the testing parameters now that we know that this instance of XXXX-A won’t be the only one. I’m going to run just a few more tests- I know that they’re anomalies, but their claims to be human are just down right.. sinister. As for D-XXXX, his blunder during testing could’ve been more extreme than it was. He couldn’t have been trusted to perform as a subject in further tests.
TEST A-7 - DATE 0█ /21/██
SUBJECT: SCP-XXXX-A-1
PROCEDURE: SCP-XXXX-A-1 was administered general anesthesia and rendered unconscious. SCP-XXXX-A-1’s damaged arm was then amputated by a team of medical personnel.
RESULTS: SCP-XXXX-A-1 experienced great emotional distress at the loss of its limb upon awakening. No anomalies were noted before, or after the procedure. SCP-XXXX-A-1’s amputated arm was put into cold storage for further examination.
ANALYSIS: Nothing still. Nothing but I feel so close to uncovering the truth about these things. They walk around wearing our faces and crying with our voices- I know that there is something more. I just have to find it. I’ve filed a request to the site director to allow me to conduct a few more tests. There’s something here I’m not seeing.
Due to the fact that no anomalies had been found in instances of SCP-XXXX-A in any test, Dr. Christenson’s request has been denied. Further testing has been halted by order of Site-██ Director ███████.
ADDENDUM: SCP-XXXX was discovered embedded into a wall in the basement of ████ █████ in ████, New York after Mr. ████ called the authorities claiming that several nude intruders had somehow broken his way into the locked basement. Foundation agents embedded in the local police department intercepted the call and moved to Mr. ████'s residence, then determining that there was indeed an anomaly in the area after witnessing the beginning of SCP-XXXX's activation period. The Foundation agents then called for further personnel and transport, and Mr. ████ was given Class A amnestics. SCP-XXXX was then removed from the premises without incident to Site-██. From this activation period the first instance of SCP-XXXX-A, later designated SCP-XXXX-A-1, manifested while in Foundation captivity. The other instances of SCP-XXXX-A reported by Mr. ████ were not present when embedded Foundation agents arrived, and are believed to have escaped into the wild. A search team has been dispatched to the local area to locate and capture these instances.
SECURITY CLEARANCE CONFIRMED, ACCESS GRANTED.

While instances of SCP-XXXX-A almost always claim names and identities, not one has been identifiable by any database available to the Foundation.
Instances of SCP-XXXX-A have memetic properties. When exposed to instances of SCP-XXXX-A, individuals without proper anti-memetic mental protection will manifest a series of anomalous behaviors. These behaviors will manifest first as sociopathic and aggressive tendencies, but will grow increasing more violent with continued exposure. The new manifested behaviors in individuals that have been exposed to instances of SCP-XXXX-A in any capacity have as of yet not been observed to revert to their pre-exposure state naturally. However, counter-memetic therapy has proven effective to remove some behaviors in mild and moderate cases.
TEST A-8 - DATE
SUBJECT: SCP-XXXX-A-1
PROCEDURE: SCP-XXXX-A-1 was administered general anesthesia and rendered unconscious. SCP-XXXX-A-1 was then vivisected by Dr. Christenson and a team of medical personnel.
RESULTS: Halfway through the procedure, SCP-XXXX-A-1’s thoracic aorta was accidentally severed, resulting in expiration from blood loss. No anomalies were reported during the procedure or after SCP-XXXX-A-1’s expiration.
ANALYSIS: There has to be something I’m missing. Nothing- nothing felt right the entire surgery. I kept looking down at A-1 and even thought it was unconscious I felt like it was looking back at me and it felt so wrong. These things aren’t human. They can’t be.
TEST A-10 - DATE 0█ /25/██
SUBJECT: SCP-XXXX-A-6
PROCEDURE: While heavily restrained, SCP-XXXX-A-6 was administered a local anesthetic and then vivisected by Dr. Christenson and a team of medical personnel.
RESULTS: SCP-XXXX-A-6 displayed immense emotional distress throughout the procedure and experienced a severe seizure that resulted in its expiration due to a complication with the anesthetic.
ANALYSIS: It physically is a human but I know it can’t be one. I need to draw it out- I have to rip off its mask and take out the monster that living underneath that face.
**TEST A-11 - DATE 0█ /26/██ **
SUBJECT: SCP-XXXX-A-7
PROCEDURE: SCP-XXXX-A-7 was heavily restrained and then vivisected by Dr. Christenson and a team of medical personnel. No anesthetic was provided.
RESULTS: 15 minutes into the procedure, SCP-XXXX-A-7 expired after having gone into shock.
ANALYSIS: That thing- that disgusting fucking thing screamed the whole time. Just like a human would’ve. Just like we would’ve It’s mimicking us and I don’t know WHY.
Following the conclusion of this test, Dr. Christenson requested further experimentation with the next instance of SCP-XXXX-A, SCP-XXXX-A-8. Upon entering the instances’ holding cell, Dr. Christenson attacked the instance with a pen, resulting in its death by fatal puncture wounds. Dr. Christenson was restrained and sedated by security personnel, and remains in containment for observation.
Research Personnel: Dr. Abramov
A log of tests conducted by Dr. Abramov to determine the legitimacy of humanity in instances of SCP-XXXX-A.
NOTE: For the duration of testing, Dr. Abramov had counter-memetic mental protection due to her work with SCP-████. Because of an oversight in the Department of Memetic Research, Dr. Abramov's protection had not been revoked at the conclusion of her testing with SCP-████, and thus was unintentionally protected against the memetic effects of SCP-XXXX-A, which were unknown at the time of experimentation.
TEST B-2 - DATE 0█ /16/██
SUBJECT: SCP-XXXX-A-2
PROCEDURE: SCP-XXXX-A-2 was given a standard Herr-Martin Cognitive Assessment test, as well as a two full-body CAT scan, to check for physiological and mental abnormalities.
RESULTS: SCP-XXXX-A-2 showed no physical differences from a non-anomalous humans in either of the scans. Additionally, SCP-XXXX-A-2 earned an average score on the cognitive assessment, displaying no signs of mental or emotional incapability.
ANALYSIS: While SCP-XXXX-A-2 is indeed anomalous, there is nothing that would suggest that it isn't a human being. Thusly, I've filled a request with the Site Director to further instances as D-Class personnel, as releasing them into the civilian population would create far too many problems in terms of instances lacking any real identity. I've also sent my notes to Dr. Christenson to corroborate my findings, as I know that he's already conducted a battery of tests on the first instance of SCP-XXXX-A, and should've come to the conclusion that I have. No further testing required.
NOTE: After comparing the analyses of Dr. Christenson and Dr. Abramov and noticing the extreme difference in both tone and fervor in testing, Site Director ███████ examined Dr. Abramov's personnel file and observed she had been given anti-memetic protection. Site Director ███████ contacted the Department of Memetic Research and discovered the oversight, then having Dr. Abramov's protection removed. In order to maintain stable testing conditions, Site Director ███████ had Dr. Abramov conduct another test of SCP-XXXX-A-2, this time without her anti-memetic protection.
TEST B-3 - DATE 0█ /18/██
SUBJECT: SCP-XXXX-A-2
PROCEDURE:
RESULTS:
ANALYSIS: While I was originally sure that might findings were sounds, after Site Director ███████ had me run another test, I'm beginning to foster doubts. I'm going request for further testing.. looking back on my original notes, it feels like I'm missing something.
REVISED ADDENDUM: SCP-XXXX was discovered embedded in a wall in the basement of the elderly ████ █████ in ████, New York after neighbors reported a terrible odor coming from Mr. █████’s house, fearing that he had died. When the authorities responded to the call, they were attacked by Mr. █████, who was under the full effects of the memetic properties of SCP-XXXX-A. Mr. █████ was killed after officers discharged several rounds into his chest. The officers then called for backup, which is when Foundation agents embedded in the local police department intercepted the call and responded, thinking that Mr. █████ could have been could have been under the influence of an unrelated SCP that had been reported in the area. Upon arrival at Mr. █████’s property, Foundation agents found several heavily decomposed and mutilated instances of SCP-XXXX-A-1, as well as SCP-XXXX-A beginning to enter its active state. The agents then called for a security team and transport, and SCP-XXXX was removed to foundation custody at Site-██ without further incident. The responding officers were given Class-A amnestics and a coverup was initiated, portraying Mr. █████ as a serial kidnapper and murderer. From this active period an instance of SCP-XXXX-A, later designated SCP-XXXX-A-1, manifested while in Foundation custody.
If you're reading this, then congratulations. You're either in the loop, or you've caught me with my pants around my ankles. SCP-XXXX creates life. Human life. We don't know how, or why, but it makes it. And as well, it makes us hate it. Through the research of Doctors Wong, Christenson, and Abramov, as well as my own studies and experimentations, we've learned that SCP-XXXX-A triggers a reaction in the mind that fosters hate in the heart. In little ways at first, like foregoing certain conditions in testing, and then later in big ways, like murdering a test subject. But there is a sweet spot that can be attained by a certain amount exposure, a sweet spot where the mind overpowers the heart, where doctors push the boundaries of their research without making concessions for their emotions.
Naturally, when I noticed this, my interest in application was piqued. And that was when we discovered that the memetic effects of SCP-XXXX-A aren't just limited to physical exposure. Researchers going over footage began to display symptoms of exposed behavior, as did security personnel who were shown photographs of the instances. Soon we learned that almost any form of imagery and audio of SCP-XXXX-A could spread the effects, as could interacting with them physically in any manner, such as blood samples.
I'm sure if you've read up on Dr. Abramov specifically, and the other work she's accomplished here at the Foundation, you'd notice a significant increase in her production of work with other anomalous items past when she became under the effects of SCP-XXXX-A. Right now, she's at the sweet spot. She's pushing the boundaries of testing with the D-Class that have been given to her, finding new functions and applications for SCPs that we thought we had exhausted every path of research long ago. SCP-XXXX-A has made her think clearer.
That is the point of this little pet project I'm fostering. Helping us think clearer. Steadily over the course of the last few months I've exposed most of my research staff to memetics created from instances of SCP-XXXX-A, and my findings have been astounding because of the fact that their findings have been even more so. True we lose a percentage more of the D-Class available to us, but for the amount of progress we've made in understanding the terrors and oddities that plague our reality, so what? If you were in my position, would you make a different choice?
-Site Director Daubney
