Item Number: SCP-xxxx

Item Class: safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-xxxx has been contained in a 10 by 5-mile radius at biological site 68, sector 12. The containment area is surrounded by concrete walls, approximately 7 feet high, 3 feet in width. all trees 12 feet from the barrier, both inside and out, have been cut down and removed from the site. Upon entering SCP-xxxx's containment, personal must wear protective eyewear and gloves. When exiting, personal will return the items to containment guards who will then search them for anything potentially hazardous. If hazardous substances are found on anything exiting containment, the items will be destroyed and the wearer decontaminated.

Description: SCP-xxxx is an unknown species of fungi, which appears to grow on any flora within a certain vicinity. the object is white in appearance, its structure being very porous and dry. SCP-xxxx was discovered on 06/04/████ at a nature reserve located in ██████, Indiana. An employee reported a "strange gas-like substance" emitting from the fungus. immediately after the authorities were notified, MTF was dispatched to the location to collect samples and transport the object to a suitable containment chamber. there is currently no suitable place to contain SCP-xxxx. engineers are working on the construction of a subtitle container. as of now, SCP-xxxx is considered a virus, although further research is required to determine its species.

the aforementioned gas emitted by SCP-xxxx has not been identified as any substance we currently know of. the substance is not dangerous to humans but lab scientists advise caution when around SCP-xxxx until further research has been done to determine its lethality. the chemical makeup of the gas is currently unknown but researchers have discovered traces of chloride within the gas. scientists are using previously collected samples of the substance to conduct tests and continue to log them

Public Effect: the have been multiple instances in which members of the public in some way or another, have been exposed to the effects of SCP-xxxx. listed below is a log of known and recorded events. (due to the sensitive and revealing nature of the contents of these logs, some information has been redacted)

addendum from Dr. Linus Sciwitz of ████████

2 students at Michigan state university had been walking around campus when one spotted what he described to be a completely white tree. a few moments later the tree folded at its base and fell down, causing major damage to a nearby bus stop. an on-site inspection of the remnants of the tree revealed that SCP-xxxx had completely engulfed the tree, weakening it. there were no major injures except the destruction of the bus stop when the tree collapsed.
