Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX Is currently housed in a secure air hanger in ████████████, England.
Security level 6 procedures must be observed externally to the hanger. No members of the public can be allowed within the hanger. Ideally a 1km exclusion zone should be maintained.
Security level 7 procedures must be observed internally. All exits are currently permanently sealed apart from the main secure exit which can be unlocked by the assigned psychiatric nurse only.
Light radiation precautions should be observed at all times. 1cm thick radioactivity shielding is currently welded to the internal walls.
Overhead lights and guidance lights should be switched on at all times. Sound and motion sensors should be directed towards the boarding ramp and should trigger the alarm on all events. An array of geiger counters should be installed, and the alarm triggered if a radiation change of greater than 10 counts per second is detected.
Signage should be placed upright, 10m from and facing the boarding ramp. It should display text adhering to signage description 208. A single water cooler with paper cups, manufactured no later than September 1989 should be placed next to the sign, along with a table and chair. Newspapers or magazines dated week beginning 20/03/1989 and no later than 30/03/1989 should be placed on the table surface.
A level 12 psychiatric nurse should be on call at all times, and be able to attend the site within 20 minutes of an alarm. A stock of at least 30 man years of amnestics should be kept in storage at the site to assist with the reintroduction procedure.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is the 90% reconstructed wreckage of a civilian Boeing 747, callsign VALKYRIE 249 delivered in 1972 to ██████ Airlines
At the time of its destruction it was operating as ██████ flight 656A from New York to Geneva via London, departing ██████ airport at 2200 on 1989-03-29.
232 passengers were registered on the flight, along with 16 crew. All were assumed to have perished in the crash. No passenger or crew remains have ever been found or recovered from the crash sites.
Remains of 2 people killed on the ground by falling debris and the subsequent fire were found.
Initial investigations were performed by the ██████████ Constabulary. The foundation confiscated the investigation and all evidence upon the discovery of:
- no passenger remains
- Radioactive residue (Cadmium 112, Caesium 135)
- Discovery that the aircraft was destroyed by an implosion rather than an explosion.
The device used to destroy the aircraft was partly reconstructed along with the aircraft itself. An alarm part of the device was traced as being sold from a ██████████ store in █████████, Wisconsin, United States. Using till receipts agents traced the sale to █████████ █████████ (hereby referred to as Individual 1) of █████████, Wisconsin, United States.
Individual 1 had connections with a neo-anarchist terrorist organisation known as ███████ as a technical consultant and bomb maker. In June of 1988 Individual 1 was approached by an unknown man (hereby referred to Individual 2) who asked him to make a timed bomb that was able to activate 3 sticks of dynamite. Individual 1 purchased parts from local electronics stores, and tested prototypes in a nearby wooded area. On delivery of the device, Individual 2 asked Individual 1 to replace the dynamite with an unknown substance in stick form. These sticks were described as blue, and far heavier than normal dynamite. Once delivered Individual 1 was no longer involved in the plot.
Subsequent investigations revealed there was no, and had never been any known plots within the terrorist group to target airliners and no other members of the group recall being approached by Individual 2.
Individual 1 is currently serving 2 life sentences in ███████ Correctional Facility, Wisconsin. Individual 2 has never been traced.
The device was hidden inside a fake Portable Tape Player and brought on board by Passenger 121 (yet to be recovered). The device activated at 0400 on 1989-03-30 causing an implosion equivalent of minus 4.184 mega-joules. The implosion separated the main section from the tail and nose cone almost simultaneously. The nose cone impacted in a field 2km north of ███████, Wales. The Tail section impacted 1.2km to the south of the nose code. The main section impacted into farm buildings 1km SW of ███████ . The remaining fuel in the tanks ignited destroying 60% of the farm buildings and killing the two owners along with 20 pigs, and 2 horses.
As of 2018-08-31 106 passengers and 6 crew members have been recovered alive. Each recovered person materialised in their allocated seating within the reconstructed wreckage. The first passenger to be recovered appeared on 1990-01-23 at 0432. The latest passenger re-appeared on 2018-05-22 at 1412.
All successfully interviewed passengers recall a similar experience: They felt an initial air pressure increase within the craft and then a loud crunch sound. Then followed complete darkness. No passengers experienced hunger, pain, or desires to defecate or urinate during their time in this darkness. All passengers likened the sensation to what they imagined weightlessness to be. Some passengers attempted to measure the time passed by counting, but found themselves counting for so long they lost track or became bored. One passenger claimed to have counted as high as 10000 seconds before losing track. Some passengers reported seeing strange patterns or shapes that looked like faces, however all the descriptions provided are similar to descriptions of standard hallucinations experienced via sensory deprivation. Eventually the darkness would fade to a white, then they would find themselves back in their seat inside the reconstructed aircraft.
All estimated they had spent time within the darkness approximately equivalent to the time they had been missing (currently as long as 28 years), and this is confirmed by medical examination. Although visibly aged (wrinkles, gray hair, cartilage growth, bone calcification) passengers do not seem to be suffering from many age-related diseases that would be expected, such as Heart Disease, high blood-pressure or Cancers.
Passengers can be re-introduced to society should they pass the psychiatric milestones required in document PSY-249-6. Both selective and complete Amnestics are authorised for use on the passenger and their immediate family and/or associates where required.
Interviewed: ████████ █████████ - Passenger Number 20
Interviewer: Dr ██████ ██████, Head of Psychiatry
Recovery: 1990-01-23 0432
Foreword: First passenger recovery. Was initially discovered after screaming was heard from within the hanger.
<Begin Log: 0800>
Interviewer : I'm sorry we weren't able to get to you sooner Mr █████████. Your arrival was a little unexpected. Hopefully that drink is welcome?
Passenger 20: Yes thank you, I think. What did your men inject me with?
Interviewer: Sir, you were very fractious when we found you. We had concerns you w…
Passenger 20: Well you would be fractious if you found suddenly found yourself in a half lit hanger with no exit.
Interviewer: Yes, I understand. Hopefully we can make you comfortable for the moment while we work out what has happened. Mr █████████, can you tell me, what do you remember from before you found yourself in this hanger?
Passenger 20: Darkness. Just floating in darkness. Before that I was on the plane, a flight to London.
Interviewer: How do you mean Darkness? I do not understand.
Passenger 20: Well I was conscious, but it was totally dark, and it was like I was floating in space.
Interviewer: Okay. How long do you think you were in this darkness?
Passenger 20: I don't know, a long time. I couldn't guess, but I was on there long enough that I couldn't keep track. I think at least 3 weeks? Do you know how long I was there?
Interviewer: I'm afraid I cannot answer that yet Mr █████████. Did you attempt to escape?
Passenger 20: I attempted to move around but I couldn't feel anything, accept myself. Look if you know how long I was in there you need to tell me.
Interviewer: It would be unwise to tell you how long you have been away Mr █████████. Can you tell me, were you comfortable? How did you eat?
Passenger 20: It was warm, I guess, I didn't notice if it was cold or hot to be honest. As far as I can recall I never ate anything, or drank now I think about it. I slept a lot. I think. I'm not even sure it was real at this point. I thought I was dead at one point. Please be straight with me, tell me how long.
Interviewer: At this point Mr █████████ my best guess is you were in this darkness for 10 months. That was how long ago the plane you were on crashed.
Passenger 20: So I was dead?
Interviewer: We're not sure that is the case Mr █████████, as you are here in front of me alive and well.
Passenger 20: Maybe I was resurrected then? Another chance?
Interviewer: We're cannot necessarily support that idea. There are other factors involved.
Passenger 20: What about my family, they must think I died too?
Interviewer: Don't worry Mr █████████, please take the pill in the case there, and we'll sort that all out for you.

PSY-249-6 - Psychiatric and Repatriation Guidelines for Time Displaced Individuals
Psychiatric treatment approach depends highly on the length of the time displacement. In all cases care should be taken to assess the individual's psychiatric wellness before revealing the current year to them.
0 - 10 years displaced
High chance of successful repatriation, even without Amnestics. Coma scenarios have a 70% probability of success.
10 - 30 years
Moderate chance of psychic breaks, anger and depression. Familial repatriation may prove difficult due to age displacement. Coma Scenarios have a 30% probability of success.
30+ years
Psychiatric treatment and significant repatriation is considered financially non-viable. Full amnestic treatment and full identification wipe (dermis smoothing, retinal obscurement) is permitted to return individual to public. Euthanasia permitted for cases where psychiatric break is considered too dangerous.
