Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX Is currently housed in a secure air hanger in ████████████, England.

Security level 6 procedures must be observed externally to the hanger. No members of the public can be allowed within the hanger. Ideally a 1km exclusion zone should be maintained.

Security level 7 procedures must be observed internally. All exits are currently permanently sealed apart from the main secure exit which can be unlocked by the assigned psychiatric nurse only.

Light radiation precautions should be observed at all times. 1cm thick radioactivity shielding is currently welded to the internal walls.

Overhead lights and guidance lights should be switched on at all times. Sound and motion sensors should be directed towards the boarding ramp and should trigger the alarm on all events. An array of geiger counters should be installed, and the alarm triggered if a radiation change of greater than 10 counts per second is detected.

Signage should be placed upright, 10m from and facing the boarding ramp. It should display text adhering to signage description 208. A single water cooler with paper cups, manufactured no later than September 1989 should be placed next to the sign, along with a table and chair. Newspapers or magazines dated week beginning 20/03/1989 and no later than 30/03/1989 should be placed on the table surface.

A level 12 psychiatric nurse should be on call at all times, and be able to attend the site within 20 minutes of an alarm. A stock of at least 30 man years of amnestics should be kept in storage at the site to assist with the reintroduction procedure.

Description:
SCP-XXXX is the 90% reconstructed wreckage of a civilian Boeing 747, callsign VALKYRIE 249 delivered in 1972 to ██████ Airlines

At the time of its destruction it was operating as ██████ flight 656A from New York to Geneva via London, departing ██████ airport at 2200 on 1989-03-29.

232 passengers were registered on the flight, along with 16 crew. All were assumed to have perished in the crash. No passenger or crew remains have ever been found or recovered from the crash sites.

Remains of 2 people killed on the ground by falling debris and the subsequent fire were found.

Initial investigations were performed by the ██████████ Constabulary. The foundation confiscated the investigation and all evidence upon the discovery of:
- no passenger remains
- Radioactive residue (Cadmium 112, Caesium 135)
- Discovery that the aircraft was destroyed by an implosion rather than an explosion.

As of 2018-08-31 106 passengers and 6 crew members have been recovered alive. Each recovered person materialised in their allocated seating within the reconstructed wreckage. The first passenger to be recovered appeared on 1990-01-23 at 0432. The latest passenger re-appeared on 2018-05-22 at 1412.

All successfully interviewed passengers recall a similar experience: They felt an initial air pressure increase within the craft and then a loud crunch sound. Then followed complete darkness. No passengers experienced hunger, pain, or desires to defecate or urinate during their time in this darkness. All passengers likened the sensation to what they imagined weightlessness to be. Some passengers attempted to measure the time passed by counting, but found themselves counting for so long they lost track or became bored. One passenger claimed to have counted as high as 10000 seconds before losing track. Some passengers reported seeing strange patterns or shapes that looked like faces, however all the descriptions provided are similar to descriptions of standard hallucinations experienced via sensory deprivation. Eventually the darkness would fade to a white, then they would find themselves back in their seat inside the reconstructed aircraft.

All estimated they had spent time within the darkness approximately equivalent to the time they had been missing (currently as long as 28 years), and this is confirmed by medical examination. Although visibly aged (wrinkles, gray hair, cartilage growth, bone calcification) passengers do not seem to be suffering from many age-related diseases that would be expected, such as Heart Disease, high blood-pressure or Cancers.

Passengers can be re-introduced to society should they pass the psychiatric milestones required in document PSY-249-6. Both selective and complete Amnestics are authorised for use on the passenger and their immediate family and/or associates where required.
