Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5743 is to be kept in a 9•9•10ft (3.05 m) room with a ceramic floor, and a potted plant within 10in of SCP-5743 with Beige wall around the room and no metallic materials within a reach of 30 meters in its vicinity.
Description: SCP-5743 is a 6-inch ceramic sculpture on top of a small wooden platform portraying a young woman wearing white clothing on her knees while crying. The sculpture is shown to have significant amounts of rust on only her face and hands and her clothing is intact. It is rumored that this sculpture was made in the 1600s. It was found on [REDACTED], England in 1994. Any attempts to remove the rust on SCP-5743 have been unsuccessful.
SCP-5743 is shown to rot any metallic materials within 30 Meters of it. The materials will rust at varying rates, depending on the amount of metal in the material. Tests have shown that even a small amount of metal can rot. But at a slower rate and speed, while pure metal rots in a matter of seconds.
If SCP-5743 is taken out of its common environment, It will result in metals to rot at a much faster rate and its area of effect will double in distance and will start to rot more. In this event. All personnel must stay away from its area of effect. If any living organism is still in SCP-5743's area of effect the person's skin will start to rot, this event can also happen if a person had direct contact with SCP-5743. Some portions of their skin will become metal and begin to rot, After fully rotting, the living organism will become SCP-5743-B. SCP-5743-B resembles that of SCP-5743 with the current Clothing the organism was wearing. SCP-5743-B is shown to cry in a position similar to that of SCP-5743. If interrupted During this state, SCP-5743-B will assault the person and begin detaching parts of themselves and stabbing the other person with it. The subject will then begin transforming into SCP-5743-B. SCP-5743-B instances or transforming instances must be reported to the nearest Mobile Task Force agent for termination
