Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class:

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be suspended in a steel box meassuring 10mx10mx10m filled with liquid Sodium Chloride, surrounded by a 2,5m thick lead shell at Site-65.

Description: SCP-XXXX is translucent crystal of unknown composition and origin. It has a briolette cut and measures 10cm in height and 3cm in width and woth a weight of 100g. SCP-XXXX continously emits a wide array of Electromagnetic Radiation at very high intensities from a small black spot at the center of the crystal. About 65% of wich is Infrared Radiation, 2% is in the visible spectrum at a wavelength of 479nm and the rest beeing a mix of UV, X-Ray and Gamma Radiation. The overall energy output of SCP-XXXX ,as of three days ago, is 142,63PW and it has been increasing by 1% every hour since the foundation got hold of the object on ██.02.20██. Two days before a spy satellite from [Data Expunged] discovered a gray circular spot with a diameter of ██km in [Data Expunged] Antarktis. When Foundation personnel arrived two days later they found a crater matching the dimensions of the anomaly, where the previously 3km thick ice layer had been completley melted with steam rising to the top. Despite it being daytime a blue glow could be seen from the middle of the crater surrounded by lava.

Any connections between SCP-XXXX and climate change is currently under investigation, but it is to be assumed that the object has at least some influence, as the average temperature around the comtainment zone has increased by 14°C. At least three major rivers have formed and are trasporting large amounts of ice melt to the ocean.
