Close up of SCP-XXXX
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX poses no immediate risk under normal circumstances. However, the knowledge contained within SCP-XXXX is considered highly dangerous and mustn't fall in the wrong hands under any circumstances. SCP-XXXX should never be viewed in the reflection of a mirror or any reflective surfaces. Removal of SCP-XXXX from the containement site or sharing of knowledge found within SCP-XXXX are grounds for immediate termination.
Description: SCP-XXXX resembles a standard foundation notebook, used by researchers of the foundation. The notebook was found after a raid on a low-level anomalous weapons dealer in New York. It was found in a backpack, along with other SCPs, like SCP-████ and SCP-████. Notably, all of these SCPs where unharmed, despite a fire having consumed most of the building, including sever scorching to the backpack itself, started by the weapons dealer using anomalous means. The weapons dealer was succesfully caught and interrogated, and while he, after some pressure was applied, freely talked about all of the anomalous weapons found at the site, he didn't know anything about the backpack or his contents. He claimed to have never seen them before.
SCP-XXXX was used by a dr. Daniël Flewick of the SCP-foundation as a personal journal of some kind. No dr. Daniël Flewick has been reported to have worked for the foundation. However, a Class D personnel by this designation has worked for the foundation before, but he dissapeared under mysterious circumstances 3 years prior, with no trace ever found of him. An investigation was opened, but closed after 3 months without producing any results. His dissapearance might be linked to the diary, but no conclusive evidence has been found so far.
Addendum: Those with Level 3 Security Clearance should see document #XXXX-1, XXXX-2, XXXX-3 and XXXX-4.
Below you'll find the accounts written in SCP-XXXX when viewed normally.

I've been having headaches and trouble focusing lately. The on-site therapist suggested that i might be losing myself in my research again, and i should take some time each day to do something else. She suggested that keeping a diary of my day might help. So, here we are. I've never kept a diary, so i dont really know what to write here. And because of the nature of my research, i doubt anyone else will ever be allowed to read this. I had to ask our site-director for permission to even be allowed to write a diary, and even then he only allowed it after repeated nagging from the therapist.
It doesn't feel right just getting straight into writing about my day, even if no-one will ever read this. So let me introduce myself. My name is dr. Daniël Flewick, and i'm a researcher for the SCP-foundation. Normally, our job is containing anomalies, but for the past few months, my research has been slightly different. We know there are a multitude of universes out there. We've been to some before. We've even been visited by someone from another universe ourself, although he apparently never even intended to come here. He just showed up one day, and was gone the next. I wonder what happened to him.
The problem with going to other universes currently is, it's very dangerous. The SCPs used to travel there are often dangerous, and almost always limited, not to mention unpredictable. But what if we had our own way to go there? A much safer, quicker way with no strings attached? Thats what i'm looking into right now. A way to travel to other universes. Easier said than done, obviously. I've been allowed to research other SCPs, that have been known to have a link to dimensional travel. So far, i've found nothing connecting these different SCPs, or even something i could use to attempt traveling myself. I hope i get a breakthrough soon.
February 21, 2013
I think i might've found something. I was looking at another SCP, that allows travel to another dimension through the use of a mirror. Simply put the object on a mirror, and the mirror becomes a portal to another dimension for as long as the object is touching the mirror. I've been studying this for quite some time, with no luck. But today, i think i might have found something. Recently, i put an old busted microphone in the lab. It doesn't pick up any sounds anymore, and i've been meaning to take a look at it, to see if i can't fix it. Well, whenever i put the object on the mirror, the microphone picks something up. At first, i thought it was a coincidence, but it consistently happens, so there must be some kind of connection. Maybe the microphone isn't entirely busted, but only picks up insanely high or low sounds? I'll have to look into this. I haven't been this excited in months!
February 24, 2013
I've found it! The microphone somehow managed to pick up a sound so low, no human being could ever hear it! When it tried to play the sound, the speakers couldn't go so low, so it just produced some weird static. That's how i was able to hear it! I believe this sound is somehow linked to the portal being opened on a mirror. If i can somehow create a noise like that myself, maybe we could open up portals of our own choosing? I just hope the sound isn't just a byproduct of the portal, but my gut tells me it isn't.
April 2, 2013
I've shared these findings with the foundation, and have gotten confirmation today that similar sounds can be picked up with other dimensional anomalies! When i questioned which anomalies they tested, i was told that most were "a bit above my paygrade". Fair enough, i guess. At least they confirmed my theory.
April 18, 2013
I've build a machine that should be capable of producing the same sounds as the disc, but i've run into some problems. To power this machine, i need a lot of electricity. More than our generators are capable of producing. A lot more. I've repeatedly asked for stronger generators, but no-one seems to care. I'm trying to look into ways of making the machine use less electricity, or look for other ways to produce electrity, but for now, it seems my research is stuck.
April 25, 2013
I've gotten permission to use an anomaly to produce the electricity i need! Finally, i can continue my research! I'm not familiar with the SCP they're sending me, but from what i gathered, its some kind of generator. When i asked for more information, i was told i'd get that information when the SCP arrives. It arrives 2 days from now.
April 27, 2013
Looks like i misunderstood something. I expected that the thing they delivered would be the generator itself. Instead, they gave me an old book. In that book were plans to build a generator. It looks a bit different from the generators i'm used to, but this can't possibly create the electricity i was promised. What's up with them promising me an SCP, and sending me plans to build a generator? And do they expect me to build this myself? Might as well try it, but if this doesn't work, i'm sending a strongly worded letter to whichever idiot decided to pull this practical joke.
May 3, 2013
This blasted generator! It's a lot more difficult than i expected. I'm almost done now, but i'm still not really sure what some of these components are for. I mean, why is the regulator made from whale bone? Last time i checked, whale bone isn't really that great of a conductor. Or that poor of a conductor. Now that i mention it, i actually know very little about whale bones. And don't get me started on how difficult it was to even get a whale bone! I've also been running the numbers, and while this generator is a lot more impressive than i thought, it still shouldn't generate nearly enough power. If i just wasted so much time on this, and i've got nothing to show for it, i don't know what i'll do. Don't they understand how important my research is?
May 5, 2013
I finished to generator today. It produced much more electricity than should physically be possible! Did i just create an anomaly? I have no idea who pulled what kind of strings for the foundation to allow me to make my own anomaly, but finally, i can get to work again! Almost, anyway. I was told that when i finished the generator, i should contact dr. Cornelius Funk, who would come over and sign off on me using the generator. Apparently, he has some more information for me.
**May 7, 2013
Until dr. Cornelius Funk comes to inspect the generator, i'm stuck with nothing to do. At least i've finally managed to fix that microphone. If i ever manage to get my machine working, i'm putting this microphone on my mantel. Without it, i'd probably still be stumbling in the dark about dimensional travel.
May 13, 2013
I've been waiting for over a week for dr. Cornelius Funk to come inspect this generator, but he still doesn't have time for me! Apparently, he is currently assisting in containing a containement breach. Worst part is, i can't even be mad at him. That's pretty important work he's doing. Still doesn't help with my frustration though. Maybe i'll get lucky and they manage to contain that thing soon.
May 15, 2013
The good dr. Funk finally showed up today. He confirmed my suspicion, i really did just create an anomaly! He also cleared the generator for use, so i can finally start my research again! Though he did inform me that extended exposure to the generator causes symptoms similar to sleep depravity. So i'll need to cut down the hours i spend in the lab every day. That's gonna slow down my research, but at least i'm back to actually doing research. I even got to test the machine today! Early test indicate that the sound i'm creating is close to the sound of the disc. Some tweaking and i should be ready to test my device on a mirror.
August 17, 2013
I've finally managed to make a sound that is identical to the disc! Tomorrow we'll start trials to see if i can make a portal on a mirror. I'm so excited!
August 18, 2013
Well, that could've gone better. We directed the sound to a mirror, but there were some complications. Like the mirror exploding, for one. Looks like we'll need to fine-tune the machine a bit more.
October 23, 2014
For over a year, i've tried to fine-tune my machine to create portals. But the end result is still the same. We end up with a broken mirror and sleepless nights over how to improve the machine. Worst of all is that i can't spend more than 3 hours every day in the lab! How am i supposed to make any progress like that?
March 7, 2015
I've spend the last couple of months looking for an alternative to mirrors, because they're just too fragile. But everything i try seems to fail. Water seemed like a good choice, untill the sound caused to water to launch upwards, and almost short-circuit the machine. Polished steel just wasn't reflective enough. I even used some of the stuff they use on satellites, but that cracked as well. I'm missing something. I must be. But what? If i don't find anything soon, i might just go insane.
January 3, 2016
I think i'm close now. For the last 4 months, i've been working together with a colleague, dr. Nico Fae. Together we figured out what the problem was and how to fix it. The mirror served as a kind of "Anchor" to this reality, to keep the sound grounded here. But since the mirrors we use aren't strong enough to withstand the sound, we need to find another way to keep them grounded. And we think we found one. There's another SCP we need to use. This SCP is kind of like a sound room, but any sound that occurs within it is echoed inside of it. until a new sound is introduced. If we can replicate that, but fill it with the sound of our machine, which we've dubbed the "Flemix- Fae spatial bridge", we might just be able to create a stable portal to other dimensions.
February 6, 2016
We've gotten permission from the foundation to study and attempt to recreate the sound-room SCP, and we're pretty confident we'll be able to produce results within a couple of months. All my years of research are finally paying off. Endless amounts of realities will be within our grasps! We'll be able to visit all the realities without going through hazardous SCPs! I'm so excited!
July 16,2017
Tomorrow is the big day. We've finally managed to recreate the sound-room, and we've succesfully integrated the Flemix-Fae spatial bridge. Tomorrow is the day everything changes!
July 17,2017
The experiment failed. And nothing will ever be the same again. I've changed. And yet i'm me.
We activated the device and it create a portal, like we expected. But the mirror was more than just a place to ground the sound in our reality. It also grounded the portal in the other reality. The portal is no more than a door between 2 places. But what if one door leads to more than 1 place? What happens when you go through it? Do you end up in multiple locations at once? The realities can't allow that. So they try to correct it. Correct me. I went through the portal. Accidentally, i only wanted to shut down the portal so we could present our findings to the council the next day, and proceed to trials. But somehow the sound spilled out into the hallway, where the spatial bridge was. I went through it. Through the door. The door with more than 1 destination. The door didn't go to an alternate reality. It went to all of them. All at once. For the briefest of times, so did i. I existed in every reality. But that couldn't be. Every reality is a copy of one another. No matter how different each reality is, everybody has a version of himself in there in some way. Not always alive. Or human. Or even sentient. But it is there. So i already existed in every reality. If it happened to one reality, it wouldn't matter. Just a minor hickup, that would soon fix itself. But all of them? The realities couldn't allow that to happen. But to close the portals, they needed to be grounded. They needed an "Anchor". Something like the mirror had done for the other portal. Something connecting all of the realities. Something connecting the portals. But that didn't exist.
So they created one. They changed something that already existed in all of the dimensions. Me. They bound all the me's together. But they made a mistake. They didn't just bind all the me's together that came from going through the portals. They bound all of me together. All versions of me, through all the possible realities. In some of them, i worked for the foundation. In others, i was the anomaly, being hunted by the foundation. In some of them, anomalies didnt exist, and i was just an average worker. In some of them, reality itself didn't exist. Only the concept of reality did. As did the concept of me. But not anymore. I have become the concept of me. I've become… Me… But so much more than the me i was. I've become all of me. I've become an anomaly. THE anomaly. I know what all of me ever knew. and i can do what all of me ever could. I no longer need a device to travel to other realities, but i now know how to create one, if i wanted. But why use a device, when a single thought would suffice. A thought would suffice to do anything i ever wanted. But i no longer know what i want.
I could easily contain all the SCPs of this universe. I could build a Utopia. Or a universe i could rule. A world, built to suite me. But what's the point. I know so much, and can do even more. But i no longer have a reason for doing anything anymore.
For better or for worse, i'm unique. Everyone exists in multiple realities. But not me. I am one. I am all. I am… Alone. For now, i'll observe. I'll visit all of the realities. See what i can learn from them. But i'll take my time. One by one. After all, i have time now. I'll see what choices lead to salvation, or destruction. Who makes these choices. Why they choose this way. Maybe i'll aid them. Maybe i'll hinder them. But i won't influence their choices. I'll just observe. Because choices are the building blocks of reality. Every single choice molds the world around us. Choices are what sets sentient beings apart from mindless slaves. And now i have a choice for you. If you flip my diary and read it back to front, you'll find knowledge. All the things i used to build my machine. The Flemix-Fae spatial bridge. Will you build it? Hide knowledge of it? Build parts of it to use in other ways? I give you the choice. And i'll be watching. Observing.
But heed this warning: It took only one of me, to affect all of me.
If SCP-XXXX is viewed upside down, the text changes to plans to build the anomalies described within the story of the diary. If viewed by multiple people at the same time, both upside down and rightside up, they will still be able to read the parts associated with their viewpoints. So far, plans to build the anomalous generator, the sound-room and the Flemix-Fae spatial bridge have been identified.
July 17, 2017, the day that the experiment supposedly failed, coincides with the disappearance of the D-class with the same name from one of our sites.
Testing has found that SCP-XXXX should never be viewed in a reflective surface. When a researcher accidentally viewed it in a hand mirror he had on him, he was exposed to a cognito hazard. Immediatly on viewing the SCP, he put down the mirror and exited the room. He was later found to have asked his superior to be transferred to a different SCP, and refuses to this day to resume his research on SCP-XXXX. This was later repeated with a D-class, who similarly wanted nothing to do with the SCP after viewing it in a mirror. Notably, the subject refused to divulge what he saw, even under threat of severe physical punishment, and refused to enter the containment chamber after.
Photographs of SCP-XXXX appear blank, regardless of how the book is viewed. Notable exceptions are people who have read the book before, to whom the photographs will appear like they know it, showing either the story or the plans, depending on how they viewed the book. If they've read both the plans and the diary, they will view the photograph as the corresponding story. If the photo is right side up, they'll see the diary, and if the photo is upside down, they'll see the plans. Mirroring the photo just caused great confusion in the test subjects, who claimed to see something they think resembles letters and words they can read, but they can't quite make it out. Extended exposure causes the subjects to become increasingly more confused and agitated, but unlike viewing the real SCP in a mirror, these effects are temporary and will disappear after the photo leaves their view.
After extensive testing and research, dr. Calahad Hendrick got permission from the council to attempt to build the generator. After finishing, the generator was labeled SCP-XXXX-A, and his anomalous properties match with the properties mentioned in the diary. The generator produces significantly more electricity than is physically possible, but anybody spending extended periodes next to the active generator exhibit symptoms of sleep deprivation. After confirming the workings of the generator, all further research into the other anomalies mentioned in the diary are prohibited until further notice.
Dr. Calahad was however allowed to build another generator, to run some more tests on, but when he attempted to build this generator from memory, it malfunctioned and blew up in his face, leaving him with severe scars and on bedrest for the forseeable future. This event is notable, because dr. Calahad has a photgraphic memory and maintains he build the second one completely the same as the first. To test wether only one of the generators can be made, a d-class with an engineering degree was tasked with building another generator. He managed to build a generator functionally the same to the first one. When he was tasked with copying the plans in SCP-XXXX for this generator however, minor differences between the plans drawn up by the d-class and the plans in SCP-XXXX show up. When both versions are shown to the subject, he'll get confused and claim the plans in SCP-XXXX are the real ones, while the plans he drew himself are obviously wrong. So far, we've been unable to determine wether the plans in SCP-XXXX are actively changing over time or its somehow altering the copies. Any attempts to build generators from the copies have failed, with varying degrees of injuries to the person attempting to build it.
